After the death of her great-aunt, Ykima Baptiste inherits the Salt House, a storied seaside home on St. Helen Island that has long been tied to the women in her family. She arrives expecting a burden of repairs and old obligations. What she finds instead is a house steeped in memory, mystery, and a quiet force that stirs something ancient in her blood. As hidden truths begin to surface, Ykima is drawn toward a legacy shaped by intuition, feminine power, and the wisdom carried through generations of Baptiste women. With Sevn St. Claire helping restore the house, Ykima must decide whether she is willing to listen to what the walls, the water, and her own spirit have been trying to tell her. The Salt House is an atmospheric romance threaded with ancestral inheritance, sacred knowing, and the call to come home to oneself.
Enjoyed this one, Rae is so poetic in her writing but for this story it did get slightly distracting especially because we were already dealing with an unclear slightly spiritual fantasy element. Loved the sisters down though
This was such a great read. I love mixing paranormal with our blackness. Im all for a seaside town and love mixed in. This book was such a poetic tribute.
