I actually won Sweet Surrender in a Facebook giveaway, and let me tell you I am SO glad I did because wow… this book delivered!
Egypt Cynae’ is quickly becoming one of those authors where if she writes it, I’m reading it. She truly doesn’t miss, and this book is no exception. The premise alone had me hooked. Imagine being hired to plan your ex-boyfriend’s wedding, only to find out his brother might just be the man meant for you?! Yeah… the drama, the tension, the chemistry? Everything.
This story gave exactly what it needed to give: romance, spice, and justtt enough drama to keep me completely locked in. I literally read this in one sitting because I could NOT put it down.
If you love messy beginnings, undeniable chemistry, and a love story that sneaks up on you in the best way, go ahead and one-click this. You won’t regret it!
The story took me through all kinds of emotions. I had a little bit of a side eye with the MFC dating her ex's brother. It couldn't be me.... But any way, the story was okay - once I got over my angst with her dipping brothers. See what you think.... Don't mind me.
Age gap romances are one of my favorite book tropes so I went into this with high hopes and this story still exceeded my expectations! Judah St. Charles as an MMC is why I love age gap romances. Judah is 12 years older than Alexandria and her exes big brother. Alexandria somehow gets roped into planning her ex Zach's wedding. As anyone can imagine it was difficult for her because Zach was trash and didn't treat her right. Judah came to the rescue and turned that weekend of passion into a lifetime! He was sweet, compassionate, emotionally mature and fine! Judah was the type to talk you through it and whisper affirmations to you while putting you through the mattress! Alexandria tried her best to fight it because she was so worried what her family and everyone else would think. Once she got past that She opened herself up to a lifetime of happiness. Judah and Alexandria both were mistreated in their last relationships but it made them better and eventually led them to each other.
This book gave what it was supposed to give a little drama, passion, love, lovemaking, and growth! It reminds you to love without limits whomever you so desire regardless of others outlook. Ms. Alex was spunky and sweet but put herself and others opinions first. Mr. Judah came in assuring and helping rebuild her. That man was teaching her to stand firm in her feelings and boosting that self esteem. She’d been broken by all those she’d given that big heart to. He let her be fragile and loved on properly. He was a grown man honey. He was clear upfront and honest about his feelings and things that he needed and didn’t want as well. He to had been hurt and broken but was willing to try again. He encouraged her to surrender to what she truly felt and it was truly a sweet surrender! Loved it!!
This was a pretty good age gap romance with a twist of a taboo relationship with the ex’s brother being the MMC. The story help pretty low drama outside of the disapproval of the FMC’s mother for the most part and I appreciated seeing this couple get a second chance at love with each other after being heart broken by others. I liked that Judah was sure about what he wanted in a relationship with Alex and that he stuck to his boundaries and addressed the issues he had with her. It was definitely grown man and I liked that Alex received what he said and stopped living for the approval of her mother and living for what she wanted and was best for her in all aspects of her life.
Alex had dated Judah's brother, but it didn't work out between them. Alex was hired to plan her ex's wedding which ends up bringing Judah and her together for a passionate time over the wedding weekend. Judah knew what he wanted, but Alex was hesitant due to not wanting her family's disapproval. Eventually, Alex comes around, and they enter into a beautiful relationship that ended up being a healing process for both of them. I loved all of the grown-up conversations throughout the book. I also loved the spirituality that Judah brought to their romance as well as the other incorporated spiritual moments. This was a really good forbidden love, age gap story. It showed that the heart wants what the heart wants despite the circumstances.
3.5 ⭐️ Imagine being the wedding planner for an ex that broke your heart. Whew chilee... Alex was strong for putting up with that. But you know what they say... sometimes doors close so better ones can open. This story explored the forbidden romance and age-gap tropes while also diving into healing from the past and learning to go after what you love without needing validation or approval from other people about your life decisions.. Judah was perfect for Alex and so patient with her throughout it all. And as someone who’s heavy on faith, I really appreciated the spiritual highlights woven throughout the story.
Healing, Love, and second chances. Alexandria and Judah didn't see this version of themselves, but God always has plans. Sometimes you have to block out the noise, even if it's family and go for what you want.
Zach left Alexandria, so in my opinion, there was no brother code that Judah broke, regarding his brother. As a matter of fact, both of their ex's were cheaters.
Love age gap romances. I was rooting for them all the way to the alter!
Was a cute little love story. No real action or drama. Extremely soft love read and it only kept my interest because I wanted to see how the family reacted to them being together, if Alex would ever have the courage to stand up to her momma and claim Judah, and if they would come around in the end. That dynamic was a little weird and I personally wouldn’t date my ex brother but it worked here somehow.
I don't want folks looking at my 2-star rating and thinking it was a terrible book, because it was not. It just wasn't what I thought it would be.
For starters, I love older romance novels; less drama. But something I have noticed with the dialogue... its corny and moves extremely fast. Like turn the page fast.
These two had history, so I guess it made it easier to move fast, but idk... It was just kind of bla to me.
Sweet Surrender was a good time indeed! Alexandria was wayyy too nice for me! But I get it. Judah was not letting his family, their age gap or even Alexandria herself from giving their love a real chance. I don’t know if this the beginning of a series of the brothers mentioned, but im all in if there is!
I am a firm believer in that you can’t help who you love. We live in a world with double standards and so called rules that we need to follow with no rhyme or reason. But I was very impressed with the way Zac handled the situation because he did fumble Alex and she did deserve love just like found it with Princess. I loved Alex and Judah together.
Age gap but blooms slowly Alex and Judah But she always had a little crush... But I'm glad his brother got outta the way wow ... But what's meant for you will be ...
Alex mom was getting on nerves frfr Passing judgement...
But in the end Judah proved he was worthy of her love 💕
I didn’t get past chapter 3. I love a book that gives me details and a storyline. This book was just very vague in the beginning and didn’t make me what to push through to the end. It felt like very amateur in the writing. But read the book because I’m just giving my personal thoughts and opinions. We’re all going to get something different out of it.
It was a cute book. It was interesting how Judah and Alex found love in each other. It take a strong couple to move past everything that went on their families. It comes from going through therapy and growing together
Judah had to show Alex real love and support. Encouraging her to face her opponents head on and take up for who she is and what she wanted. I was there for all of it. I can enjoy a good age gap if it is written well and this was.
Alex found her Boaz in most unlikely way. True understanding love heals what time can’t. She was still hurt and broken. He seen through the pain and was able to love and protect her.
Awesome story short and sweet. I have added Judah to my list of book baes for 2026. Loved how he cared for Alexandria. Glad that Alexandria's mother and brother came to accept the relationship. kudos to the author👏🏾👏🏾
Nice quick read and refresher. Liked seeing Alex and Judah give in to each other and what they were feeling. Happy that the mom and brothers were able to come around and get over themselves.
I was skeptical about this book at first I didn’t know what to expect. The only thing I knew was it had spice but honestly it was very sweet and I love it!
