Fairly repetitive because of the simpler vocabulary it's trying to work with. Some children appreciate it though, as it makes them feel accomplished when then come to the same word and recognize it faster.

Cleanliness: a hen gets upset but corrects her mistakes later.

I liked this plot because it teaches children the importance of sharing and consequences of being mean to others, like the chicken was to the hen. This book also had a nice rhyme scheme which helped the story flow.

slightly creepy character Jenny has a hen named penny. when she wants to introduce new hens, penny goes haywire (no pun intended). happy ending when she comes around to accepting the other hens. easy reader focused upon short vowel sounds.
