Jan Harrison's book seems to be something that can truly help someone mourning or grieving from any type of loss whether its one of death, divorce, job loss or the like. It has some wonderful pieces in it that are great for even the small stuff but most of this book is for the big stuff. The stuff where when it happens most of what we know about God seems to just go out the window and the pain is all we can seem to focus on. "After the Storm" can get you back on track with trusting God and letting him handle your loss, your pain and your healing. She reminds you to look at the parts of the Bible where God promises to take care of us and heal us even through the things that would seem to almost kill us.

In the book, Life After the Storm by Jan Harrison, Jan helps you learn how to hold tight to Jesus while living through a rough period of time. Jan teaches us that you need to hold on during rough times because God knows us better than we know ourselves. She explains this by using the quote “God knows us so well that he knows our every move. He knows our every question and thought, and even the motive behind them” (70). She uses this quote to explain, you might think you can handle the problem yourself but you can’t. Then she tells you not to ask God why you’re going through this. She explains this by using the quote “I’m forced to acknowledge that this question represents one of the many “whys” we each held within our heart as we tried to find a way to guard and protect ourselves and one another. Deep down I have my own questions. Some entered my consciousness immediately after James died and others came later on” (67, 68). She uses this quote to show even she questioned God after her son James was killed but you’re not supposed to because he did it for a reason. This shows you 2 main topics Jan talks about in this book, as this book is filled with many great resources that have helped me learn how to heal. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is in a process of trying to heal from a bad situation.
