The book is a short satire based on corporate comedy around the dynamics of an employee with his boss, HR, marketing etc.
Brief Snapshot of the Story
Despite the best preventive HR policies of randomly reorganizing the department and designing incomprehensible appraisal processes, Sid, an employee has got promoted within a short span of five years. And the HR vice president is absolutely not happy about this! He needs an RCA done and he needs it fast!
Meet Sid-an average employee who gets thrashed by his boss, duped by his HR and confused by the management. Join Sid in his corporate journey of launching a new smart phone brand. Discover the corporate work culture as he makes his way through various graphs, pie-charts, bell-curves and what not-all to save his job!
A small book that knows what it is talking about. There are no backstories to remember and no drama to sob over. Just plain and simple fun about our daily experiences.
What I liked the most was the HR part. That is hammer on the nail.
This book underlines on the alleged “corporate” society common in the 21st century (particularly in a creating nation like India). It likewise tosses some light on certain untrustworthy practices marketed by driving organizations and their key level administration persons. The creator has perfectly portrayed how office legislative issues are worked and the different reasons an organization places up for the sake of cutting operational costs.
Imperative Note: There is a minor creative ability issue which is without a doubt past recognition – the organization at the focal point of the story happens to be a 5-decade old programming titan. I truly think about whether there was any product industry 50 years back!
In any case, general, the writer keeps readers hooked for some time in the angling enterprises of the corporate individuals.
I didn't find funny. In fact I found the book lacking in any quality, I guess I judged the book by its title before I bought it. The title is no where related to the book.
One of the first book i read ! That's why it feels different everytime i talk about this book. I have read the likes of michael lewis, roger lowenstien, Ashley Vance, Seth godin , Nassim Nicholas Taleb and Yuval Noah Harari.. but still this book is amazing to me. Nicely plotted, funny and more importantly keeps you entertained with solid punchlines. Focus sam has also been the similar kind of book.
Read this somewhere in mid of 2016,. Nicely penned the startup culture in India, can relate to most of the incidents happened in my professional journey.
This is an excellent story. It clearly shows how the HR functions in a company - though I am not here to accuse all. There are few who does this and I hope they correct themselves after reading it.
The book shows how Sid being a good performer was always ignored and how he beats the odds to get his promotion. I finished reading it in one go and I am really happy that the mindset of 1000's of employees has been captured crystal clear in this book :-)
It is certainly a worthy read unless you have difference of opinion or you are an HR ;-)
I got this book from Goodreads for FREE as a part of their Book Review Program. Thanks :-)
Unlike other corporate fictions, which concentrate mostly on certain type of organization or company and use complicated managerial terms, "get corporated" is a simple corporate satire. It starts with a pep and ends with the same momentum.
Awesome book. Simply fantastic. I must recommend it as "must read" for every young/recently employed or to be employed, even to the interns & trainee. Every turning page, I found my mouth opened with amazement as well as with little smile.
Simply Awesome. Reading the very hard and bitter facts of corporate culture with such a humor and interesting description. Amazing reading. Hats off to the author. Short, precise full of enjoyment and definitely a much awareness of corporatism.
