Mediocre at best. Nothing original or interesting. Hero gets one boost after another while being there underdog.

Well this series got better.

The first book was so poorly edited/ written that I was hesitant to try a second book but the reviews for this one were better so a I figured maybe a learning curve was involved. Thankfully this one was better than the first. I wish we could half stars but we can't so consider this a round up to four.

The scenarios are interesting and there is some humor. Redemptions occur as do twists. Thinking about it more maybe it is the execution that was lacking in the first but got better with the second book. Hopefully with the third it comes together better.

The adventure of smoke continues. The story remains great and the characters are fun and engaging. Combat gets more attention here as the author stopped listing every hit and instead describes the fight and simply states the damage done per turn. No more long lists. I liked how we get to see how his is out of and in game experiences effect the other. A few new characters and larger scale fights really draws you in, never a dull moment. Wish a game like the one in the book existed, it's world is just that good. Can't wait for the next one.
