Kristin is a working mom of one beautiful little girl who writes as a hobby in her spare time. Her first book, One of A Kind started out as something that was just for fun. After urgings from friends and family to publish, she took the leap and is now in the process of working on more books all the while learning and growing as a writer.
2.5 - stars! It took me quite some time and a few ‘stop and start’ sessions to get through this one. Great idea, but needed some work on the execution.
This story had so much going on that I was having a conniption over Benjamin Lewis's brazen behavior towards his wife. How many times does a man cheat before his wife gives up on him. I think Tonya gave Ben far too many chances.. Her old friend and former love waiting in the wings for her to come home again was an added bonus.. Monica Cain was the villain that every story needs, and she wore her badge with honor.... An excellent read..
I really like how every major character in this book underwent some sort of transformation by the end of the novel, whether it was an attitude or behavior. The story itself was extremely believable in a soap opera kind of way. Halfway through this novel, I would never have guessed that I could feel any sympathy for characters who kept messing up and refused to mature, but Ms. Hurd is a good enough writer to make me feel bad for characters who at one point seemed completely irredeemable. This novel had more depth than I would have guessed.
Okay I am a little bit peeved about the ending of this story. The ending was so rushed you get the feeling of unfinished business. No the story is very good and eye opening to adult feelings and life experiences. This writer gets that our children sometimes mimic our actions. There were a few typos in critical moments but they didn't take away from the story. This is an adult romance about life, love and the decisions we make.Very good solid read.
