The Aliens Who Abducted Me Aren't So Bad
When I first saw the headline about alien ships hovering over major cities, I did what any traumatized millennial would do. I rolled my eyes and kept scrolling.
Then the call came. Report to base. No explanation.
Before I could even process what was happening, I was yanked off Earth and dumped onto an alien ship alongside millions of military personnel from around the world.
Except these aliens—the Krezikians—aren’t here to conquer us. They’re here to stop humanity from destroying the only livable planet we have. Which is… noble, terrifying, and wildly inconvenient when you’re being “saved” against your will.
Things get complicated when I sneak out to check on a friend and get caught by gorgeous, sweet, and equipped with a set of curious tentacles that do not understand the concept of personal space. Suddenly, I’m being shoved into the role of Earth’s unwilling spokesperson, spending far too much time with my abductor-turned-ally… and discovering his interest in me might not be entirely diplomatic.

OMG this was amazing!!! I really hop there will be more in this series as this was outstanding! The was so much character depth and development, I just flew through the book. Please do more

Ok this story is a lot of fun. Not that I am surprised or anything since I am becoming a huge fan of this author. The aliens in question only want to help save the Earth from destruction due to our own stupidity. No surprise that the humans aren’t all that thrilled, especially since their communication skills are lacking…just a tad. Enzo didn’t volunteer to be the human liaison but one has to make the best out of a situation. He just wasn’t expecting Aster - or the tentacles. But hey! Tentacled squishy alien cinnamon rolls for the win! Absolutely fun book and definitely worth a read!

I'm not surprised at all that I absolutely had a blast with this surprise (to me, idk, maybe she announced it but I don't keep up with authors' socials etc) book from Amy Padilla. I enjoy her writing style, imagination, and take on romance immensely. I will say that the magical *save us from the disaster were actually in the middle of making environmentally and politically rn IRL* fantasy of it was... a mixed bag for me. Like, sure, on the one had who doesn't want to fall into a fantasy where the human race actually unfucks itself before it's too late (or has some help with that unfucking), but otoh - since I highly doubt alien saviors are actually going to swoop in at the last moment and get us all out of this mess - reading about it almost felt like shining a big fat glaring spotlight on just how craptastic and spiralling those problems actually are IRL, which lands somewhere between depressing and disheartening. Anyway, maybe that's just a me thing but it definitely affected my reading experience.

"The Aliens Who Abducted Me Aren’t That Bad" received THREE stars.
It took to about 55% to become invested in this story. I liked the characters and the premise, but had trouble connecting to the story.
The novel gained *stars* for these items:

This is a cute alien/monster romance between Aster- the alien and Enzo the soldier but I felt like I was missing some world building and love story.
Slight spoilers below.
We do not get any world building on how mates work in the alien culture- does everyone find one, is inter species common, and could Aster walk away with no consequences. Also Aster is male presenting but there was no discussion of reproduction or compatibility/disease. One character, Landeau is addressed as They, how did Aster know? Enzo goes from I am falling for my abductor to yeah I guess I’m in love we had some good sex super quick. There is no scene of them finding connection other than sex and their “bond”.
We definitely are missing out the story of Earth accepting the aliens. This timeline is very rushed. This is a fun idea, I can see the setup for the additional couples, hopefully more is addressed. This definitely felt more like a story that had not had all the details fleshed out.

Another cute romance from Amy Padilla. Aliens invade to save Earth from ecological destruction, and I for one welcome our tentacled overlords. Because of course they have tentacles. I would love to see more of the alien society, including the human who was abducted in the 1920s and chose to stay.

A sweet, himbo alien, willing to go anything to protect his new..'coworker'..and the human race as a whole. Versus a human who didn't ask for any of this, quite actually said 'no' to most of this.
This was utterly fabulous! There were such perfect moments of "fuuuck" and "fuck it" that perfectly balanced each other, so many "I won't do it" versus the "well I guess I'm doing it." Just as the Aster perfectly balanced Enzo. They made it work, all amongst the humans making it sooo freaking hard to save (which, let's be honest...not entirely wrong).
I'm a little obsessed. I don't necessarily see a sequel in the future, but you never know. ;)
I love everything Amy's been doing lately. Working on one new series, and new spin-off series after another all the while writing several standalones. Beautiful!

Enzo is going about his day when he sees social media blowing up about aliens. He rolls his eyes and continues on, also ignoring a text from his mother. Suddenly he's getting calls and texts from the military base to report to work immediately. There he finds out the alien stories are real. His job as a plane engine mechanic is vital, so he's off to do his job when the base is attacked and he's abducted by aliens. He's worried but not really afraid. He's also intrigued since he's always wanted to be an astronaut and go to space. He's meeting interesting people and showing them he can be of use.
Aster is a delegate for the Krezikian government counsel. He was sent on the mission to help save the planet Earth. The Krezikian people are all about saving habitable planets. They didn't realize abducting humans from Earth was a bad move. Thank goodness they have Enzo to enlighten them. Aster slowly courts Enzo but before he can mention they're mates, his brother lets it slip. Now Aster has to keep Enzo safe and hope he'll accept the mate bond.

The parts mentioning politics and issues so mirroring our own issues kind of brought the story down some. I read to get away from the problems the world and mostly the USA are having, so these parts bummed me out some. I'd definitely be interested in reading more books in this world.

I loved this book! I hate to think of our planet dying, but hello global warming. Anyway, the story had enough realism and romance to keep me going from cover to cover.
Enzo is engine maintainer in the Air Force. He works the night shift and is unexpectedly called back to base on his off morning. Little does he know that his life is about to be upended.
Aster is a Krezikian, a humanoid alien with tentacles. In a plan to save the Earth, the highly intelligent yet naive aliens abduct the world’s military members and leaders to ensure safety while also sharing information. Unfortunately, the Krezikians didn’t know how stubborn and resistant to help the humans would be. Luckily for Aster, a certain Staff Sergeant will find it in his power to be a helpful liaison between the aliens and the humans.
I just loved this book! It’s like the best of both worlds, a mix of action adventure and romance. I know some might say I read to get away from real world problems, I don’t want to read about them. To me, this is a slightly campy take on how aliens save us. Do we make it harder on them first? Obviously. That’s what makes it so fun to me. The characters are great, the setting is incredible. There are steamy times and sweet times. It is a quick read too. I didn’t want to put it down at all. Pure enjoyment for me. My only question now is will there be more Krezikians in our future?

This was such a fun and cute alien romance. I didn't know from the start if this was going to go the cute route or more of the scary alien invasion route based on the storyline. I mean, the aliens arrived and proceeded to immediately abduct the entirety of military personnel on Earth. I think most humans would be a bit worried that the aliens have come for nefarious purposes after that first contact.
Enzo is one of the captured military members and he not happy about it. When he's caught wandering the ship out of his given chambers, he thinks his number might be up. This is it. This is when they kill him. Enzo can be a tad dramatic. Thankfully, the alien who discovers Enzo happens to be Aster, the sweetest freaking alien ever. And his interest in Enzo turns out to be more than either bargained for on this mission.
I loved meeting all the different aliens on the ship. I don't know if this book is just a standalone, but I wouldn't say no to more books in this universe. Heck, there are already 2 couples just waiting for their story to be told next! I am super curious about them both and will be crossing my fingers for their stories in the future.

Like any good Boomer, I've been sure that Gen Y (the Millennials) was gonna send us to hell in a handbasket. And first glance, Enzo is a perfect millennial. The story is told from his point of view. And he's snarky, sweet and (yes, as mom to two, I can say it) cluelessly entitled.But he's also relaxed and accepting. Krezikian Aster is a delight. Cluelessly naive and tentacled, he's the perfect foil to Enzo.
Paraphrasing Reagan "We're from Krezikia and we're here to help you". Eventually, it's them that will need to be saved by their Earth destroying, fated mates. Ms. Padilla pokes at politics. And they poke back a bit. I found it all quite tongue in cheek. And you know, it's sometimes this which opens your mind to new ideas. I found this to be a gentle and thoughtful look at our world.
Amy Padilla knew that she was leaving a tiny hole in our hearts after completing her Charmed Away series (still pining on the last two audibles). I can say, 100% that this series is going to more than fill in the gap. I really am greedy for more.

The Aliens Who Abducted Me Aren't So Bad is not so much a romance as it is an climate meet-cute between a damaged Earth and aliens who are ill-prepared to save it. Enzo has no ambitions, he's happy fixing engines and keeping his head down. But he's catapulted into a position to help save the human race from itself. Of course when aliens come and abduct huge amounts of people then go silent, the human race doesn't react peacefully. Honestly the book probably downplays how people would have reacted, but it's not peaceful. The aliens who came to save Earth are naive and doing everything wrong.
I did like the character of Enzo and I think with his reluctant heroing we get to know him. Since the book is from his perspective, I felt like the aliens were fairly blank. For most of the book, Enzo doesn't really understand what the aliens are doing so we don't either. I'd even say that I felt some of the side-character aliens were more fleshed out than the love interest.
But if you are interested in a scenario where aliens come save the planet from us in a peaceful and clumsy way, this book was pretty enjoyable.

But the aliens are here to save the Earth, and Enzo starts to get too close to one of his helpful captors. Enzo is lucky Aster steps in to help and they begin to build a friendship that starts to feel like more.
This book focused a lot on the politics of navigating the human unwillingness to trust as of course everyone fears the unknown when they have aliens show up. Enzo is a plucky and earnest character and garners the attention of an instantly possessive alien. Single POV is always hard for me, and although both characters were likable we don’t get much sense of Aster or his background. Also, Enzo becoming the speaker for the entirety of the human’s captured seems unlikely, but he tries, and the fish out of water aspect was a good way to get familiar with the world building. There were some really fun secondary characters and some entertaining tentacle spice.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story. Enzo and Aster were so cute together! I liked the concept of aliens "invading" Earth to save it from global warming. The pacing in the book was a little off for me though. It almost felt like the author originally thought they were writing the start of a new series, then decided in the end to make it a standalone. The pacing was what I expected throughout the majority of the book, then towards the end everything was quickly wrapped up between the aliens and Earth's military and world leaders. Other characters, who could have easily had their own books if this were a series, had their storyline explained in a sentence or two at the end.. That was kind of unsatisfying, as I would have liked to get to know those characters better. Perhaps this will still be turned into a series, I just couldn't find anything saying that. That aside, I always enjoy Amy Padilla's books, and this was no exception.

Then again, how could a human resist an alien that goes down to Earth just to get him coffee.

This is a very fun book to read. But as with all of this author's other books, I would expect nothing less. This is the story of Lorenzo Rossi and Aster. Lorenzo is military and he ends up on a space ship along with the rest of the world's military. This is done by the Krezikians. An alien race that has come to earth to stop the human from destroying it through global warming. It is while Lorenzo is on one of the ships that he meets Aster, a Krezikian. While Lorenzo is thrown into the unwanted role of earth's spokesperson, Aster is right there along with them. The two slowly build a friendship and then more. This is their story. The book is well written and easy to read. I received a complementary advanced review copy of this book from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review. There is plenty of humor found throughout the book making it fun to read. Lorenzo and Aster are a cute and loveable couple. I look forward to more books by this author.

My favourite Amy book so far!
This was fantastic! I really loved the pivot to sci-fi and really enjoyed the entire story arc. It’s not that I’ve not enjoyed Amy’s most recent books (I have) but I think I didn’t enjoy the Barbarian series as much and this felt like the books of her I have enjoyed the most (a call back to the first series I read). It’s got a great pace to it and the romance whilst technically fast feels well paced and natural. I think that’s partly because so much is happening in those first few days for Enzo that it would feel like weeks had passed when it was only days. I loved the way we slowly got to discover things with Enzo too. That slow realisation that things weren’t as bad as they seemed and that perhaps the bad guys weren’t who we thought they were. Really well done all round. Plus so many cool new aliens to discover! I hope this becomes a series because it is perfect for one and a ton of fun!

I've never read a romance book advocating so clearly about how we, as human in general are treating our planet.
The romantic plot was hilarious, with a MC blind to the way his alien is trying to seduce him and a very charming octopusy using his tentacles in very interesting ways.
Lorenzo is quite amusing to, how he behaves and thinks, so out of norm for a military guy, his head is a very entertaining place.
I think how Amy describes the way our leaders behave is sad in a strange way, because I think is very believable and disheartening that if somebody came to save our planet we would be discussing how they are trying to invade us instead of taking advantage of their technology and advances.
I really enjoy Amy's writing and this foray in scify is a good addition to her roster.
I recommend it!

They Aliens really aren’t so bad… They’re actually pretty darn good! I highly enjoyed this book. It’s a fun and cute story with aliens, abductions, fated mates, and tentacles. Some things were so very idealized that aliens appearing to save us was more plausible than human cooperation could ever be.
This is a standalone which is fine except other couples find their mates and reading about their stories would be a lot of fun. It is also story that is told in first person. Seeing only Enzo’s side to everything was ok, but with how different the alien perspective is and with so much going on, I really wish that we got Aster’s POV as well. His POV could be absolutely sweet and adorable and so much fun!

When Enzo’s life changes, he never thought it would be because of aliens. Now he must figure out the politics between the worlds. Thankfully along the way Aster comes along. As the two work together, something begins to build between the two but can a human and an alien find their way to a happy ending?
I enjoyed meeting Enzo and Aster. The two are good together and their story is a sweet one. It moves along at a good pace and keeps the reader entertained. Their story is cute and it was nice to see how well they fit together. Not only were the main characters a good read but I could not get enough of Aster’s family. I enjoyed meeting the many different characters and aliens in this world and would love to return for more.

Enzo was a mechanic in the military and when the aliens invaded, he was beamed up to a ship along with most of the military and government. He was made a liason to the humans by an alien, Aster who was half man, half octopus sometimes, sometimes just human form. As Enzo works to explain the aliens mean no harm to humans and only want to save our planet, Asher becomes more than an alien, more than a friend, more than a lover, can you say tentacles? Different than Amy's other books, cuz - aliens, but just as entertaining with social awareness thrown in. I received a copy of this and this is my voluntary opinion.

Well if this is what happens when aliens invade earth, then sign me up! Once again humans are soo disappointing with how they treat aliens and anything that is trying to help and be good. But these aliens are all about saving the world and they wont let anyone stop them. I just love Aster and i loved the scene with his brothers. I love Enzo’s accepting nature and how friendly and open he was with the aliens. Aster and Enzo together were just really cute and obviously hot too. I hope that we get more books in this series and get to visit some other planets! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

If you don’t enjoy insta love don’t come anywhere near this book, they fall in love in a week. But as someone looking for fun low stakes books at the moment this was perfect.
I really enjoyed the characters and it had a good plot that kept me interested. I just think the timeline could have been stretched longer. Around where the pamphlet is in the book a time jump of a month rather than 3 days would have worked better so it gives the romance more believability and time for the changes the MMC is making to be implemented.
If you like the sound of the plot and don’t mind insta love, definitely give it a read.

The Aliens Who Abducted Me Aren't So Bad is the story of Enzo a human and Aster an alien. This was an amazing book that I couldn't put down once I started it. Both Enzo and Aster are lovable characters. They are so cute and sweet together. I loved all the characters in this book. The world building is wonderfully done. I really loved the plot of the story. I also loved the humor used in the story. I would love more books set in this world with some of the other characters we met here. I would definitely recommend this book as a 5 star read.

This story is told in first-person by Enzo. Like most, if not all, of Amy Padilla's stories, the relationship is easy between the MCs. Any conflict is caused by outside antagonists. Enzo and Aster are very cute together. And, although politics are mentioned and highly involved in the story, I like that the author doesn't mention names of politicians or countries. This makes the book more palatable and will be even more relatable in the years to come. Definitely a thought provoking book, as well as an enjoyable romance.

I really really enjoyed this book. Lorenzo Rossi is military and was called back to base without any explanation. When he got there, he was told that he needed to work on the aircraft. When they noticed the spaceships, they started to run but got beamed up. As time went on, the aliens told Enzo what was happening with the planet. Told in Enzo’s point of view, it tells of how he became the liaison between the aliens and the human governments. Also Enzo found that he was Aster’s mate. I loved this book and wished we could have aliens come by to help clean up our planet.

Lorenzo and Aster story brings to front a real problem and it gives a sci-fi twist with a happily ever after outcome.
It was interesting learning about different species and their quirks, as well as the way humanity’s answer could be.
I liked their chemistry and when they acknowledge the power and importance of their feelings, and I really would have liked seeing their trip home.
I liked the premise used in this story and I have a couple of characters that I hope they get their turn at happiness.

Such fun with a serious message
This just caught my attention from the very start and wouldn't let go. If I had the chance, I'd be straight on that ship and hauling across the galaxy before you could say 'tentacle porn'!
The serious message about global warming and how it's being handled (or not, in the case of the world's biggest polluters) is at the heart of this book but it's a story of hope. That doesn't mean it's preachy at all, oh no. It's satire with a love story attached, and I want this to be series now as there's already two other couples whose stories I need.

Well that was silly, and a lot of fun. Alien's invading the planet, but only to save us from ourselves? Yes please. Tentacles? Hell yes!
Enzo, the human and Aster, the Krezikian was so sweet together (and hot - fans self), all whilst trying to save each other and the planet.
This book started off as a serial on Amy's newsletter and I'm so glad she finished and published it. I'm not very patient and waiting for the next chapter was killing me. I don't usually read sci-fi, but Amy wrote it, so I read it and really enjoyed it. 4.25*
