I love a mystery that grabs me from the first page, and The Girl Who Was Taken absolutely delivers. The opening pulls you in fast, and from there it’s a race against time to find a missing young woman before it’s too late.
What makes this one stand out is the blend of traditional investigation with Emma Jackson’s psychic abilities. It adds a fresh twist without taking over the story—you still get the logic, the clues, and the steady build of tension, just with an extra layer of psychic insight that keeps things interesting.
The pacing is quick (love those short chapters!) and there’s a real sense of urgency running all the way through. I sat down to read a few chapters and—-well, you can guess how that went.
I love a mystery with a touch of the supernatural and a team I can root for, so I really enjoyed this. It's an intriguing introduction to the series.

Angela Van Breemen has created a story that is both suspenseful and emotionally engaging. I found myself turning the pages quickly because I genuinely wanted to know what would happen next. Emma Jackson is a fascinating lead character whose unique abilities add an original twist to the investigation without taking away from the mystery itself. The writing flows smoothly, the tension builds at just the right pace, and the characters feel believable. I especially appreciated how the emotional moments were balanced with the suspense, making the story even more compelling. If you enjoy mysteries with a paranormal edge and strong character development, this is definitely a book worth reading. I highly recommend it and look forward to reading more in the series.
