Ghosted is a paranormal new adult romantic comedy that had me laughing out loud more times than I can count. Between the characters’ inner monologues, their awkward interactions, and the chaotic world they’re navigating, the humor lands constantly in a way that feels both clever and effortless.

The main character, Arya, is one of my favorite kinds of protagonists because she’s awkward, endearingly chaotic, but also surprisingly badass when it counts. She feels genuinely unique compared to a lot of recent heroines I’ve read, and that really made her stand out to me.

The story kicks off when Arya, recovering from a string of bad relationships, joins a dating app called Ghosted, not realizing it’s actually meant for the dead. That’s where she meets Maverick, a ghost. What starts as an unusual connection turns dangerous when, during their first date, Arya is poisoned by his unhinged professor. In an attempt to save her, Maverick performs a ritual that backfires, bringing him back to life as a human.

From there, things spiral into initiation week chaos, where Arya and Maverick are paired together for a sorority challenge she desperately wants to get into. Meanwhile, Arya is also searching for her missing mother and uncovering unsettling truths about the paranormal underworld beneath Phantom Falls University.

Despite the stakes, the heart of the story is Arya and Maverick’s relationship. They fall for each other quickly and fiercely, and the emotional pull between them is strong enough that they’re willing to risk everything to stay together, even as their world becomes more dangerous and complicated.

Ghosted is funny, fast-paced, and full of heart. If you’re a fan of Jenna Levine’s My roommate is a vampire you’ll love this!

Ghosted by Alexis Jacklin was such a fun and emotional read. What starts as a story about heartbreak and unanswered questions quickly turns into something deeper as the characters are forced to confront their past, their mistakes, and what they truly want moving forward.

I really enjoyed the chemistry between the main characters and the way their relationship developed throughout the story. The emotional tension kept me invested, and I found myself rooting for them even when they were making questionable choices. Alexis Jacklin did a great job balancing the romance with personal growth, making the journey feel authentic.

The reason this landed at 4 stars instead of higher for me is that there were a few moments where I wanted a little more depth and resolution. Some of the emotional beats felt slightly rushed, and I would have loved a bit more time with the characters at the end.

Overall, this was a heartfelt romance with plenty of tension, swoony moments, and emotional growth. If you enjoy second chances, unresolved feelings, and characters finding their way back to each other, this one is worth picking up.

This book has tropes like: Second Chance Romance, Forced Proximity, Emotional Healing, Miscommunication, Found Family

4 ⭐️ 1.5 🌶️

Unfortunately, this book just wasn’t for me. Everything felt very surface-level and I never connected with the characters because they lacked depth. The storyline was all over the place and at times it felt like information was missing.

Overall, it didn’t feel like a finished version of the book and I honestly hope it isn’t. The premise had a lot of potential, but the execution left me disappointed. Sadly, this one didn’t work for me.

Thank you to Olive Press and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC 🖤

I definitely took an interest in the premise of the book - Spooky, paranormal college life with a romantic element. But unfortunately the style of the writing definitely fell more into the category of an underdeveloped YA-novel, including pretty flat characters, cringey dialogues and rushed, over the top romance with no real core. I had to force myself to finish this book and especially the end, which dragged on and on really challenged me.

So let’s go through some of my notes while reading:
One of the things that bugged me the most was how none of the characters felt real to me. Even though the author really focused on painting Whitney as more than just a dumb blonde after literally portraying her exactly like that for the entire book, she didn’t succeed at all in this. The main character Ayra also goes from being one of the most unpopular students with no friends to really popular with no explanation to back this development up. Especially the turnaround from Josh and Charity and their whole change of demeanor felt so sudden and out of the blue.
Even worse was the romance plot of the novel, which took up most part of the story. It developed really fast without a real substance to it other than “I love you”; “I love xy about you”, “I would do everything for you” and this within a couple of the first chapters.
The whole paranormal world and logic felt really underdeveloped, too.
There is also the plot line of the former ghost and now love interest of our mc, Maverick, becoming an influencer overnight. Because of a video of him using a scrub mommy. There was dialogue over as srub mommy for several pages, I kid you not. That part was already so cringey but it only got worse with him, also overnight, scoring a huge brand deal and suddenly being able to pay for literally every expanse in this book. And there were many, including a mansion? This also all takes place without any explanation or any part were we actually see him producing any content for his thousands of fans. It all just happens on the sarcastic notion of “Influencers, am I right?”
Also let’s not forget how on their second date they decided to drive to the mall in Aryas car and Maverick insisted on driving because our poor mc “doesn’t always have to do everything by herself”. Like what?
Besides the underdeveloped characters and cringey dialogue the plot was also pretty predictable and lacked substance, proper pacing and real suspense. I was really glad when I finally finished this book but overall was definitely disappointed by the novel.

Ghosted by Alexis Jacklin is a new adult paranormal romance comedy based all around a dating app called 'Ghosted'. (Epic name haha)
Thanks to Olivepresspublishing & Alexis for this ARC.

I fell in love with this book instantly from the dedication alone, and gawd I LOVEZ when a book gives you that feeling!!! "For every woman who has ever been told they were too dramatic, too intense, or too much. Don’t let society take that from you. Ever. You don’t have to exist inside their box." The cover had me intrigued, ALSO the fact the town is called Phantom Falls, haha omg I love it!!! 👏🥰
We start Ghosted from the POV of the FMC Arya, who hasn't had luck with her love life as of lately, dating men who fill her with empty promises and dreams - Lady we've all been there, screw those guys, find yourself a real man 💪.
Dude the RED FLAGGING im getting already from chapter 1 reading this - no profile pictures like COME ON 😬 ITS SCREAMING RED FLAG RUN 🤣🤣🤣 (okay im already addicted sue me).
Omg okay I kicked my feet cackle laughing at the "They whittle people’s entire lives"...if I wasn't dead and "ghosted" before.... I am now... omg 😂🤣😭🤣🤣 epic line. And the "onlyfang" omg I swear ill be a suitable person for this book when im done because the comedy is gonna kill me off 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Maverick sounds to good to be true is a soul collector or something 👀🤣. ~occupation retracted ~ im now saying hes a vampire 👀🤣 his language is ancient ✌️😂👀 Im loving this so much, I dont want my ribs to hurt from laughing tho - be gentle with me 😂😂😂.

"The student morgue is dead silent." Pun intended 👀😂😂.. what in the ever loving casper?! How..?! 👀. Ehh her mother did what now?!? Ew. Dude who/what is Maverick?!?! So errie. Ps. Zanye is a total d!ck!!
What in the.....👀 okay I was NOT expecting that. Damn...
This book blew me away, it was full of so much fun, giggles, anxiety & having me on the edge of my seat.

Okay. DNF at 18%. What is this? It is very everywhere with what it wants to be. A rom-com. A mystery. Paranormal. Sacrificial. It's everything all at once, but not in a good way. It feels jumbled and smashed together. The characters don't seem to follow who they are. Our Main Character is supposed has wanted to be a goth mortician since she was in 6th grade. Her first exam? She's doing badly cause she sees her dead cousin. Then we don't even know what happens after that because it bounces to her wanting to figure out what happens to her cousin. Understandable, but she's failing the test she BEGGED to do. What? Then there's Maverick. We don't know anything about him. Nothing. Why does Ayra even like him, besides the fact he talks to her?
The timeline doesn't make sense at all either. How long has it actually been since Greg trapped himself in a walk in freezer and died? How long was Nora missing for? The book starts with her date being the Saturday that's going to happen, but then mentioned that Maverick and her have been talking for WEEKS. What? It was supposed to be a week only.
The side characters don't stay consistent either. Whitney, her roommate, goes from tyrannical to sweet after hitting her head? We're suddenly supposed to love her because she has family problems. Ayra admitted to stealing from her and that's supposed to be okay?
I think this book has a lot of potential, but it's way too all over the place as is. I wanted to love it. A dating app that connects the living with the dead? Heck yes! However, it is too many pieces to be fit into a coherent storyline for me. Even the idea of him trying to sacrifice her so he can become living again? AMAZING! What actually happened? I am confusion and sadness.
I love the cover though!

The story follows Arya, a young woman who enrolls at Phantom Falls University with dreams of becoming a top-tier mortician. Set against the mysterious backdrop of Phantom Falls, Arya’s journey is anything but ordinary. Supernatural forces constantly interfere with her studies and her love life, throwing unexpected challenges her way. The central question remains: can Arya balance her personal aspirations with the chaos that surrounds her, and will she find happiness along the way?

As a fan of supernatural fiction and someone who has recently delved into more romance novels, I was immediately drawn to this book. The blend of otherworldly elements with heartfelt relationships seemed like a perfect fit for my tastes.

This novel seems firmly rooted in the Young Adult genre, and it shows in its tone and pacing. While the premise is engaging, I found that many interactions and plot developments felt rushed. There were moments where the story could have benefited from more depth and development, especially in key emotional scenes. This pacing occasionally detracted from the overall impact of the narrative.

Overall, I found the story to be very enjoyable. The premise is original, and the book's flow kept me engaged. Despite its flaws, the novel’s unique mix of supernatural intrigue and romance made it a worthwhile read. I would definitely consider picking up another book by this author in the future, as I’m curious to see how their writing evolves and how they further delve into phantom falls.

This was honestly an incredible journey and a true 5–6 star read for me.

I wanted to live Ayra’s life. I related to her so much. I’ve always found mortuary work strangely fascinating and have often wondered what life might have looked like had I gone down that path instead. Reading this weirdly healed that little curiosity in me.

Ayra genuinely felt unique compared to so many heroines I’ve read before. She felt real, layered, alternative, soft, intelligent, and beautifully human in a way that stood out to me immediately.

And Maverick??? Immediate top-tier book boyfriend status. Possibly better than Rhysand… maybe not Casteel or Slade 👀😂 (if you know, you know). But what truly made me love him was the way he loved Ayra, so fully, so healthily, and so deeply. Their connection felt comforting and emotional without losing all the tension and chemistry that makes a romance addictive to read.

What surprised me most was how lighthearted, uplifting, and genuinely funny this book felt. I laughed out loud so many times while still getting completely emotionally invested in the story and characters. The balance between humour, emotion, romance, and the ghostly atmosphere was done SO well.

The atmosphere, the emotion, the humour, the ghostly romance, all of it completely pulled me in. I have rarely been this eager to read every single day just to dive back into a world and characters again.

I will recommend this book to literally everyone I meet forever now because it is THAT good.

Absolutely a must-read 🤍👻

love that lingers. silence that hurts. and a connection that refuses to fully disappear.

Ghosted is an emotionally charged contemporary story that leans into heartbreak, unresolved feelings, and the messy reality of what it means to be left behind without closure. From the very beginning, there’s a quiet heaviness to the narrative—like something ended before it was ever truly finished.

The story explores the aftermath of emotional distance in a way that feels very grounded and relatable. It’s not just about being “ghosted” in the modern sense, but about the ripple effects that silence creates—confusion, self-doubt, anger, and the lingering hope that maybe it wasn’t really the end.

The characters feel very human in their flaws and reactions. No one is entirely right or wrong, which adds depth to the emotional conflict. The push-and-pull between holding on and letting go is where the story really lives, and it’s handled with a steady, reflective tone.

The pacing is slower and more introspective, focusing on emotional development rather than big plot twists. It allows the reader to sit in the discomfort of uncertainty, which makes the emotional payoff more impactful when moments of clarity finally arrive.

There’s a quiet intensity throughout the book that builds in subtle waves rather than dramatic spikes. It’s the kind of story that doesn’t need loud moments to hurt—it just sits with you.

When Arya is ghosted by Zayne, a guy she's dated a little, she decides to try an app named "Ghosted." What happens next is a fun romp between the paranormal and the normal, or at least as normal as a student in her major is.

This isn't your standard paranormal romance trope. It doesn't have the normal shifters or elves that one might expect. The blurb promises a ride full of twists and turns, and the plot doesn't disappoint.

I liked how Arya is relatable with a dash of weird. She's awesome; she has a great personality, and I was invested in her narrative. I have to admit that Maverick's character was a bit old-fashioned. I didn't love him, but I didn't dislike him. He appreciates Arya's opinions and her self-reliance, but he doesn't quite fit the mold one would expect. I can't say much more because I'd spoil the plot, but he comes across as someone from the 1950s.

The plot gets a little heavy at times, which brings the tone down a couple of notches. When you get to that point, don't give up on the book because the tone lightens up. The romance in the plot isn't squeaky clean, but it's not spicy.

I enjoyed Ghosted, and I'd happily read another paranormal romance by Alexis Jacklin again.

Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of Ghosted by Alexis Jacklin. This review reflects my honest thoughts.

If you love paranormal romance with plenty of chemistry, mystery, and supernatural intrigue, Ghosted is absolutely worth picking up.

From the very beginning, I was pulled into the story and couldn’t wait to see how everything would unfold. The paranormal elements were woven seamlessly into the romance, creating an atmosphere that was both eerie and captivating. The chemistry between the main characters felt natural, and I found myself rooting for them every step of the way.

I also appreciated that the romance didn’t overshadow the plot. The mystery kept me invested, and each revelation made me even more eager to keep reading. The emotional moments hit just as well as the suspenseful ones, making for a story that felt balanced from start to finish.

Overall, Ghosted was an engaging, addictive read with memorable characters, a compelling romance, and just the right touch of the supernatural. I highly recommend it to fans of paranormal romance who enjoy stories with heart, mystery, and a little bit of the unexpected.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advance reader copy (ARC) in exchange for my honest review.

Ghosted is a fun, quirky paranormal rom-com that puts a supernatural twist on modern dating. The premise immediately hooked me, and I enjoyed the blend of humor, mystery, romance, and small-town charm throughout the story.

The banter between the characters was entertaining, and the paranormal elements kept the plot feeling fresh without overshadowing the romance. While I found the pacing a little uneven in places and wished for a bit more depth in a few character arcs, the story remained engaging and easy to fly through.

If you’re looking for a lighthearted romance with ghosts, witty dialogue, and a unique premise that leans into spooky season vibes without being scary, this is definitely worth picking up. It left me smiling and curious to see what this author writes next.

I am giving this 2.75/3 stars. The premise sounded promising a paranormal romance. But this was labeled as a paranormal adult romance and it read more like a YA novel. Not much romance, a lot of cringey dialogue between characters. A lot of the story read as YA to me.

Also the way everyone is so nonchalant about “paranormal” when they found out about it is throwing me off. Like when they find out about ghosts or vampires just no big deal. I felt like some of the writing got a little “lost”. Meaning it would jump from one thing to another at times without explanation. A lot of plot holes and writing felt rushed. It’s little odd. Overall I liked it but i think it should’ve been labeled YA. I kept waiting for this one to make me feel something, but it never quite got there. This didn’t read like a New Adult novel at all—it felt like a very young YA book trying to sound older.

The characters constantly talk like they’re trying to be grown-ups, but it comes across as kids pretending to be adults. Their dialogue never felt authentic, and I had a hard time connecting with any of them.

The timeline is an absolute mess. I was constantly confused about how old everyone was or when events were actually happening. Instead of building suspense, it just felt disjointed.

This book had so much potential, but it falls very, very short. It honestly feels like the author has lost the storytelling voice that made me love their previous books. Rather than a cohesive story, it reads like a bunch of random ideas stitched together. The book never seems to decide what it wants to be.

The only thing I genuinely loved? The cover.

This novel follows Arya, who has just enrolled at Phantom Falls and matches with Maverick on the dating app Ghosted. This paranormal new adult romance delivers an original premise that immediately caught my attention.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. The romance, playful interactions and paranormal elements made it a fun and entertaining read. While there were a few moments where I would have preferred a little more development, it didn't take away from my overall enjoyment of the story. The uniqueness of the plot and the connection between the characters kept me engaged and eager to see how their story would unfold.

Thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing Co-Op for the eARC of Ghosted. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This started off strong and really cute with a great concept. However, the world-building was a little lacking and a lot of things were written in for convenience that didn't make much sense, like how Maverick earned his money. I liked the premise, and there was a lot of funny parts, like the scrub mommy debacle. However, fast burn relationships aren't for me. I would probably pick up this author again, however, and give her another chance because I enjoyed the premise.

I enjoyed the overall storyline of this novel but there was lots of plot holes and it felt very rushed. The modern themes of social media mixed with classic paranormal elements and it’s current popularity was my favorite part of the story but I feel it could have been explored further and was kind of thrown in here and there as an afterthought. Many plot points were scattered throughout and not fully developed in my opinion. I wanted to know more and had a hard time connecting with any of the characters. I think the author has a lot of potential and is a good storyteller but I wanted more from this book that drew me in with its catchy cover.

DNF @ 30%

Reading the description I had high hopes for this book. The concept of the FMC accidentally joining a dating site for the supernatural was something I hadn't read before. Yet starting the book, the story seemed disjointed, with not enough character buildup. There were also moments when I had to go back and reread because it felt like I was missing information. It turns out it just wasn't there.

I was disappointed after being so intrigued by the concept to not be able to connect with the story enough to want to continue.

Unfortunately, this was a book I DNF at 52%. I love the premise of this book and tried to get into it but the writing itself was very basic. The story had a lot of information with no explanation. Suddenly at 50% completion Maverick and Arya tell each other that they love each other but there is no relationship building in the book. They’ve gone on a few dates and spent time together. Arya doesn’t even seem to really like Maverick for most of the first half of the book.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC.

I was really excited for the premise of this book. I have been looking for a ghost romance.
This felt really underdeveloped and kinda all over the place.
The characters gave me whiplash and I just couldn't connect with them. I never felt I knew what was going on because characters would just say things that it seemed we should already know but didnt. Also the characters were strange. Like everyone just excepted there were paranormal beings. No freak out just like okay no biggie. There was no build up romance and then all the sudden characters were declaring their undying love for each other. Characters just didn't feel consistent at all.
This was a YA romance, no explicit scenes which is fine but it just wasnt written well for those parts.

Plot was all over the place and there wasnt much suspense or proper pacing with things.
I was disappointed in this book.
