Title: Monster Made ARC Provided By: A.V. Blackmoor Release Date: 05|28|26 Genre: Dark Romance Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Main Characters: Quill & Piper Book Type: Prequel POV: Dual
Absolutely loved this prequel to the monster duet. It gave the perfect amount of backstory to Quill and Piper. It dived deeper into Quill and his history with the secret society. It gave me a better perspective to why he is the way he is.
This book made me feel a deeper connection to these two characters which made me fall more in love with this story. There’s just something about seeing Quill, this monster, show his feelings to Piper. I just love him.
If you haven’t read this duet, I highly recommend prior to reading this book.

📢 Monster Duet - Available on KU 📢 Book 1 - Monster’s Prey Book 2 - Monster’s Claim
This prequel to the Monster Duet gives you a little background with Quill and Piper. As well diving deeper into Quill and his history with the Devil Tower. Quill absolutely gives morally grey, dangerous, possessive energy, and the romance has that toxic pull that dark romance readers either love or immediately side-eye. I love how this is mostly his POV and how we see more of his thought process and his inner debates regarding his obsession with Piper. This series is dark, so please read TWs before going in.
spoiler alert review // monster made by a.v. blackmoor — ( 🧷 ) first read ★★★★☆ ౨ৎ ⋮ “some monsters are born. others are made.”
ᝰ.ᐟ tropes: ⤷ dark romance ⤷ morally grey mmc ⤷ possessive love interest ⤷ trauma + healing ⤷ dangerous attraction ⤷ secrets ⤷ “touch her and die” energy
— tw: violence, trauma, manipulation, toxic relationship dynamics, sexual content, dark romance themes
this book had that gritty, dangerous, why am i rooting for this man? kind of energy. it’s dark, messy, intense, and definitely not trying to sell you a soft fairytale romance. this is more like love crawling out of the wreckage with blood on its hands.
ᝰ.ᐟ plot summary: monster made follows a romance built around darkness, survival, and the kind of attraction that feels almost impossible to walk away from. the characters are pulled together by pain, secrets, and obsession, and as things unfold, it becomes clear that the real monsters aren’t always the ones everyone warns you about. sometimes they’re the ones created by betrayal, trauma, and the need to survive.
꒰ 🖇 ⊹ ׁ݂ “he was the monster they feared, but somehow, he became the only place that felt safe.”
ᝰ.ᐟ my thoughts: i really liked how heavy the atmosphere felt. this book has that dark romance tension where every scene feels like something could snap at any second. the mmc gives morally grey, dangerous, possessive energy, and the romance has that toxic pull that dark romance readers either love or immediately side-eye.
what worked best for me was the emotional intensity. it’s not just dark for the sake of being dark — there’s pain underneath it, and that made the characters feel more layered. the relationship isn’t clean or easy, but that’s kind of the point. it’s complicated, obsessive, and full of those “this is a terrible idea but i’m invested” moments.
i do think some parts could’ve used more breathing room, especially when the emotional beats hit back-to-back, but the overall vibe kept me hooked. it gave danger, angst, obsession, and a romance that feels more like a storm than a safe place.
ᝰ.ᐟ final thoughts: if you like dark romance with morally grey men, messy emotions, survival themes, and intense chemistry, monster made is worth checking out. it’s not for readers who want healthy communication and soft love confessions every chapter — this one is darker, sharper, and more chaotic.
— rating: ★★★★☆ dark, emotional, dangerous, and giving “he’s a monster, but unfortunately… i get it.”
This series is definitely a DARK one. Quill is morally black 100 percent. However, this novella is not as dark as book 1 and 2. The entire Devil world is deeply psychological, and there's so much to unpack. If you read it at a surface level, it would seem horrible. Quill is a tormentor. Piper is a pushover. But when you factor in a lifetime of abuse and the reality that Quill is a psychopath who lacks empathy and self-control, the series becomes incredibly layered. There's so much happening beneath the surface.
Honestly, I am completely obsessed with the Devil world. A.V. Blackmoor has this way of making me gasp, say what the heck, and sit there stunned at the end of chapters. Every book in this world pulls me in deeper. This novella may be shorter, but it still had me reacting out loud and flipping pages like a maniac. I love when a story makes me feel something so strongly, and this one absolutely did.
Having the full story and then coming back to the beginning adds so much nuance to every interaction. It gives more meaning to Quill’s internal struggles, Piper’s fascination with Devil, and the later actions of the side characters. The amount of character growth that Quill and Piper have from this novella to the end of book 2 is astounding.
Most of this novella is from Quill’s perspective and takes place over about a two-week period after they get together. There are a few scenes from books 1 and 2 shown from his POV, but for the most part this is new information and new insight into who he is. Seeing these events through his eyes changes the way the entire series reads.
Surprisingly, this prequel left me with even more questions and has me begging for the next book in the Devil world. I am so curious how much the people at the top of Devil really know about what is going on. Did they sanction these things?
Thank you BookSirens and A.V. Blackmoor for this ARC. I am anxiously waiting for the next books in the Devil world!
Although she used to fantasize that he would be her knight in shining armour, Piper has been bullied by Quill ever since they started high school together three years ago. While she’s been used to dealing with his torment, most others leave her alone, so when she’s attacked by another student one night, she decides to take her revenge. This brings her to Devil Tower, where she sees things she shouldn’t have, including Quill.
For years now, Quill has wanted nothing more than to end Piper, but something always stops him. While he fights his urges, one thing is clear, no one else is allowed to touch her. But when he wakes up with bloody hands and no memories of the night before, only to see bruises on Piper’s face, he’s convinced he hurt her, and somehow that doesn’t sit right with him. When his obsession turns into a need to possess her, everything changes, and suddenly keeping her safe is his biggest priority.
Having read the Monster Duet, I was thrilled to receive this prequel novella from the author. It was interesting to see some of Piper and Quill’s interactions from the opposite POV, but also, because this one was entirely set in their high school years, we got to dig a bit deeper into the origins of their relationship. Quill is just as unhinged here as he was in the duet, but we got to see more of his thought process and his inner debates regarding his obsession with Piper, and it also set the scene for what I’m sure will be the next storyline in the Devil Universe. It was interesting to see how much the characters have changed over the years, and yet how much is still exactly the same.
Monster Made by A.V. Blackmoor gave me everything I wanted from a prequel and more. I loved learning how Quill and Piper started out and how their story developed before everything that readers already know happens. The way the author wove Quills beginnings as a Devils soldier into the storys core was really well done. It didn't feel forced or like content. It made Quill a deeper character and helped me understand him in a whole new way.
One thing I really like about A.V. Blackmoors writing is how it feels like a movie. Each scene has much detail that it feels like you're watching the story instead of just reading it. You can imagine the atmosphere, tension and emotions clearly. It's like the book has pictures in it.
I've been following this series and each book gets better and stronger. This novella added a lot to the story while still having the dark addictive energy that the series is known for. If you already care about Quill and Piper you should read this. It made me more obsessed, with their story.
A nice little novella about Quill and Piper, fiĺling the gaps of their intense relationship before Piper let for University.
I really enjoyed this. It showed the true side of Quill's feelings toward Piper. Even though you see a snippet of it in the Monsters Duet you mainly see his psychotic side. But this little novella showed how much he truely loved Piper. Yes he is still a psychopath and does and is capable of many unhinged things, but in this novella DEVIL hasn't corrupted him fully yet, compared to his adult life.
There is a softness to Quill which hasn't been destroyed yet.
Definitely worth a read, but would have loved more to the book, maybe it ending after the incident with Dane and Liam and leading to Quill and Pipers break up and her leaving Astley.
Read the snippet of Cass and Finns story at the end of this arc and can't wait to see how that unfolds.

Monster Made by A. V. Blackmoor is the prequel to the Monster Duet, which I had already read beforehand. Personally, I think reading this novella afterwards made the experience even better, as it added extra layers of insight and background that were cleverly woven into the story. This was an incredibly engaging novella that I finished in a single sitting because I couldn’t put it down. It offered a deeper insight into the early stages of Quill and Piper’s relationship, while also expanding on the mysterious secret organisation (“Devil.”) The story had unexpected twists that genuinely caught me off guard and kept me hooked from start to finish. Although this novella isn’t quite as dark as the Monster Duet, it still contains some darker themes, so I’d definitely recommend checking the trigger warnings beforehand - your mental health matters!
This is the prequel to the Monster Duet, which I read previously. It introduces you to Piper and Quill, and Quill's obsession with Piper. He's been bullying Piper for 3 years when he suddenly realizes " If only I'd known how delicious this kind of squirming was...why the hell did I wast my time making her wriggle around in fear when I Could've had her wriggling around in pleasure instead?" Ths spice never stops, but neither does the plot. There's a serial killer lose in the town, and mysterious events happening at Devil's Tower. This is short - but you do need to read the Trigger Warnings. I'll admit I'm an A.V. Blackmoor fan and this is the fifth book I've read, and I'm waiting for the next one to come out!.

Monster Made by A.V. Blackmoor is the Prequel to Monster Prey and Monster Claim from the Monster Duet series. This is my1st experience with this Author and haven't had the opportunity to read the Duet yet. (I am downloading them as I write this). This bully to lovers/ revenge romance brings to you the story of Piper a coke bottle glasses wearing loner who has the unwanted bullying attention of Quill the young man everyone fears.....except Piper. Even after years of his torment and perceived hate she still looks at him with a heat spiraling inside her she can't quite explain. When they finally collide it definitely looks like trouble. I enjoyed getting to know these characters and look forward to reading the rest of the series.
It’s nice to see the prequel of Piper and Quill and know more of their beginnings. Definitely suggest reading this before diving into their story Monster’s Claim, but you don’t have to.
This is set during Piper and Quills high school years, and what happens at the Devil Academy. We learn more about the bullying Piper endures from pretty much everyone in her school because she’s poor and her looks (thick glasses, eyes being different colours and her unruly red curly hair).

I dropped every other arc to read this one because omg 😍😈😍😈. I felt so blessed to be chosen again for this series. Devoured this in a couple hours. Prequel to the Monsters Duet by @avblackmoor.author she never disappoints.
Please make sure you read the trigger warnings before you dive into this series. It is a Pitch-Black Romance with themes and scenes that go with it. The author truly knows how to bring the characters and scenes to life. The development of the MMC are my favourite. If I was to have a book boyfriend, this would be it. Maybe I should analyze myself more for that 😅. Anywho, please go pre order this one!!!
ARC Review Monster Made Prequel to Monster Duet This was a quick read that provides background for the MMC’s for the Monster duet. Having read the duet, I think that I would still read this prequel after the main books, more because we meet new characters leading into the next series. We are given some insight into Quill & Piper’s history especially the shaping of why Quill is the way he is. For a short read we are given a decent amount of spice – would expect nothing less between Q & P. A bit more insight behind Devil Tower. I’m hooked on these characters and can’t wait to read the next series. This is series is Dark, check your triggers! I received an advanced reader copy of this book and I was so excited to add to Piper and Quill’s story. The story is a prequel to the other Monster books. It gives more backstory and filler to the whole world behind Devil Tower. The FMC and MMC have a weird chemistry that I didn’t quite understand in the first book, started warming up to in the second book, and can finally say I get it after reading this book. Loved the intrigue, mystery, and spice. Perfect for lovers of dark romance, morally gray main characters, and secret society suspense!
Monster Made is the spicy dark bully romance prequel to the Monster Duet. You get a little more of Piper and Quill's story and how things started for them. Reading the Monster Duet first, most of the events of Monster Made were referenced to in the duet, with just a few events that were not mentioned previously. I did expect that Quill's thoughts would be darker though.

📖 Monsters Made was such a great novella! I loved getting to dive deeper into their relationship before the duet and finally see more of the history between them. It added so much more emotion and understanding to the story while giving us little hints and sneak peeks at what’s coming next 👀👀👀
The chemistry, the tension, and all the extra details made this such a fun and addictive read. Now I’m even more excited for the next books because I NEED to know what happens next!!! 🖤
'A prequel novella to the Monster Duet featuring an original, high-heat story. Can be read before or after the Monster Duet.'
The characters were very complex and compelling and complicated. Plot was intriguing and intense and well paced. World building was excellent and solidly drawn. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.
Grab a copy, kick back and enjoy!.

I loved the Monster Duet so much so it was great to be back in their world with this prequel novella.
Monster Made is Piper and Quill in Highschool and we learn how/why the characters became the way they are in the Monster Duet. This was everything I didn't know I needed.
It is dark (just like the duet) so check your triggers please!
I’m not normally a fan of prequels, I like to read my books in order of the story but I enjoyed this one. It was very cleverly written to enhance what I already knew from having read the previous books. It gives more insight into Piper and Quills early relationships and you get further inside Quills thoughts. A good quick read.
Thankyou to the author for letting me read an advanced copy.
Thank you A.V. Blackmoor for another great ARC! This was a very quick read and not bad. I enjoyed this and reading a prequel about this amazing characters and story.
Piper and Quill are such well developed characters and this story was so well written that I am excited for the rest of the stories for this series.
Piper always saw Quill as her knight in shining armour, even when all he wanted to do was end her, but he couldnt, hos obsession grew, he bullied and protected her, but when he awakes with blood on his hands and bruises on Piper has he gone to far? Well written a great prequal to the duet and works well both after or before the original duet
It took me a minute or two to get into the book. I am not sure I know what exactly Piper and Quills' relationship is. It's toxic but I can see that their both drawn to each other and don't understand. I, myself don't understand but man do I. I know that I have some questions and am hoping that they'll be answered in the duet.
Absolutely love this prequel. It answered a lot of questions that I had. It gave the back stories and more information on Quill and Piper. Both absolutely phenomenal characters. I love this whole series of books I think they're absolutely phenomenal. The spice off the charts right on point I absolutely loved it. I cannot wait to see what else the author has in store for us.
Monster Made was the perfect way novella about Quill and Piper that I absolutely devoured. The plot was everything as well as the spice. The way this had me on the edge of my seat, I was waiting for more and I got it. We get to see that Piper has been bullied by everyone by the way she looks because she is poor. This poor girl has been put through the wringer but is still standing.
Nice little preview into the earlier workings of Quill and Piper. She is so clueless that it almost hurts considering her love of mysteries and Quill is pure evil most of the time but manages to keep her safe somehow. Cass was interesting and I’m intrigued to see where that storyline goes
