The Mages of Qizut have gifted Ivor the location of another Inheritance. Much like his first Inheritance, this one is dangerous; perhaps even more than the first one. Thousands have attempted the Inheritance. None have returned.
Quite a bit is known about the Inheritance, the instructions are clear. Ivor will enter the Inheritance of the Arch Magus as a Level 1 Mage. He will need to complete four years at an academy while one year passes outside. There are limits to what he can bring with him.
It doesn’t sound too dangerous. Then why have all the others never returned?
It’s a mystery Ivor and Zed are willing to explore. Those other people didn’t have Ivor’s titles or stats. They definitely didn’t have a former AI turned Sector Administrator/World Guardian/Freehold Guardian along for the ride.
Many people wonder what it would be like to start over. Ivor is going to find out. There’s one thing that’s kept him and those he cares about alive since the Earth Reformation; power through growth. He’ll be away from Marie and his Freehold for an entire year, but growth demands sacrifice.
This book has an OP main character, game-like stats, skills, spells and level progression. No AI was used int he creation of this book’s content.
I'm only giving this book three stars because I spent my time reading this book constantly confused. The inheritance is an instance which means nobody inside was real, yet the MC goes out of his way to right injustices that just don't matter. Also to train and level up what are basically ghosts. The fact that the original rogue for his party very suddenly became not just a drug addict but also a thief just so the author could kick her out of the school and replace her with the noble didn't really fit. Look nobody is real except for the MC, so forcing that replacement didn't really fit. He didn't really help anybody or change anybody's life. He also technically slept with a ghost.
I spent most of the book thinking that the inheritance had sent him to a real world with a real school with real repercussions for everything he did only to find out no nothing actually mattered. Which means that his money as well as the dungeon seed should still be in his null storage with zero changes other than him now knowing what type of dungeon that seed will produce when planted in his territory.
Normally I don't like time skips but I'm glad that the entire school arc got wrapped up in this book. Was afraid it was going to go on for multiple books.
Another thing that bothered me was that constant feeling that all the students are teenagers instead of the young adults that we are told they are. The bullying was very high school-ish.
5/10 Basically I spent this entire book being confused and then I went from being confused to disappointed by the end.
I had already read a good portion of this book on patreon. I ended up rereading everything I had already read because the The book was so good and it was so nice to read all at once! Fantastic book great entry into the series well worth the time and money. And dang it I really want the next book right now! Which is not fair to the author who spent so long working so hard on something that I devoured in just a few hours in one day 😂
I was actually sad when I finished. This book was a Mage School Arc with our guy dealing with gangs and Nobels. At the end it’s hinted that our guy has to put some folks on Earth in their place.
So I'll go back and rate the others as well, but I just kept needing to get the next book! I do have a major complaint in this book - despite giving all the others 5*, there will be spoilers (heck the ending was so bad I'm ready to go to 3*)
The first 65% of the book is "year one", and then we kind of give passing notes on year 2/3/4, not terrible, but I feel like it could have been paced better.
Ivor brings a bunch of stuff into the world, gets stat elixers, and decides to give them out to people in the fake world instead of using them for his family in the real one?? (Among any other drops) Wastes a dungeon seed for some money that becomes irrelevant after a duel, which he didn't know, but just makes it feel like a waste that goes completely unacknowledged and he barely used the dungeon? He was scared of a swarm? Okay, lower the level 10 levels like you have the option to. Make it public and alter it any number of levels, you're leaving anyway?
But my major complaint: it's a LITRPG/Gamelit book, the MC wanted to keep his epic and master class options a secret from the academy, okay fine. He didn't pick any of them, but picked a weaker one to help...?? None of the skills were doing anything amazing for him. None of them increased his understanding of runes / rituals.
And the worst part? We didn't even get teased with the epic and master class names?? ITS GAMELIT?? And then his inheritance is affected by the class he chose, then he negotiates a terrible negative stat buff wise to take a single skill and some spells that would take him a month to relearn with his full stats. For what has otherwise been a smart and logical MC, this was just all thrown away for terrible "gains"
This would have been an enjoyable read if it had been the first book in a series about an over powered individual attending a mage school to learn............but its not, its the fourth book in a series about a system apocalypse with an OP protagonist. The MC enters an inheritance which is basically the equivalent of a dungeon instance so everything he does in there is make believe but he still goes out of his way to make friends with imaginary people and help them out. The story is based around him going to a mage school for 4 years. It seems like the author forgot this fact as the first year took up three quarters of the book, it feels like the author must have panicked when he realised he was running out of space and then the last three years each got a couple of chapters and a very brief rundown of what happened each year with virtually no details. The ending is also very abrupt with the story wrapping up extremely quickly at the end.
After the great first three books this one was a massive disappointment.
This series just gets better and better. I love the imagination of this author as I never seem to know what is going to come next. That is rare for me that each book is a delicious treat.
I love all the incredible well-rounded characters written in the series overall and the ones who just appear in this book about a single year lived in the outside world compared to the four years experienced in the Inheritance.
On top of the well rounded characters, the plot is captivating and engrossing. I found it impossible to put the book down until I finished it.
If you enjoyed the first three books you will love this one just as much. I can't believe I have to wait until August to find out what happened next!
Great book, excellent, OPMC, you won’t be disappointed in reading this book.
An excellent story, another great book in the series. Plenty of action from start to finish, likable, great overpowered MC. You gotta love this guy. Even though the MC is older and has been rejuvenated into a younger body he is still learning. That’s the secondary charm of the story. The world is well developed and the side characters are well written. I read this book on KU, but I’m going to go out and purchase the entire series so far. Can’t wait for the next book, going to sign up for Patreon to follow this author, excellent, read the book and the series for yourself you will not be disappointed.
This series never fails to be interesting and entertaining. This is another good one to add to the list. I love the way this book and series have just the right balance between overpoweredness and earned strength. This one is kind of interesting in that it starts back at level one but with a new scope compared to the first book.
Can’t wait for the next book. Judging by the last sentence I bet I will enjoy it. No spoilers but it does end on a cliffhanger, but one that shouldn’t be too surprising based on some previous foreshadowing.
Ivor's time in the Arch Magus' inheritance as a student was interesting. There was some studying, some adventuring, dungeoneering, good friends, some personal growth, mysteries, bad guys to deal with, etc. I like that there was only a little bit of foreshadowing near the end of the book. The end was still mostly a surprise.
Ivor is now off to deal with an issue that cropped up while he was in the inheritance in the next book.
It would be neat if he could in the future go back to that world and resolve the mana desert issue. 😇🤗
So our man Ivor continues to explore new worlds this time in search of an inheritance that’s killed thousands of alien mages that went in search of the inheritance and never returned. Can Ivor survive let alone thrive in this inheritance? Very engaging read and great pivot for the overall series. We end with finding out that things have gone DOWN on Earth in his absence and it’s time to go get home and go HAM. Hopefully nobody has touched his daughter or harmed his kid
Each book gets better as you continue with the series.
The first book was good but I had issues with the character development of some that were introduced. Later in the series, the characters become fuller in depth. The main characters end up being fully conceptualized and interesting. The twists and turns in the training, challenges and fights are fascinating. Not being a gamer didn't hurt me from understanding the plot. The lack of gaming knowledge didn't detract from absolutely enjoying this story.
The whole inheritance felt real, the situations and outcomes. The system monitoring that part of space was real. The fact that Ivor was an 18-year-old was new and that he was this pleasant guy with so much patience, to choose to make friends. His personality changed. Whether the whole thing was real or not he didn't just learn new skills. He grew socially. He still showed the same drive and commitment to better himself. Of all things, I was disappointed he never got to say goodbye to those friends that treated him like family.
The author has truly achieved mastery in generating angst at the end of his books. He could end it with a summary of the obligatory academy arc, but he teases the war arc and now I’ll get no peace until the next release. Speaking of the academy arc cliche, I wanted to be frustrated because I’ve seen it so often, but I was too busy chuckling that the author managed it when the MC is 61. There seems to be unlimited potential in the many stories that can come out of this series. I just hope the author keeps it going for as long as he can.
It can be hard creating a world within the book you are writing and to create it as an Inheritance trial is quite brilliant. This book is slower paced but no less entertaining with characters and plot. I was actually sad the inheritance was not real and would fall apart when Ivor left. Every book in this series has been given 5 stars by me. Outstanding.
wow, a fantastic mage academy trope story. Two thumbs up.
The MC pursues a 2nd inheritance, this time at a mage academy for 4 years at a 4:1 time compression. Had all the fun tropes, arrogant noble bullies, gangs, good and evil instructors, orphans trying to survive and a couple of sidekicks.
The MC learned classroom and practical mage theory, delved dungeons and stomped on some bandits. The series is quite engaging. I read this in one day.
I enjoyed this next book of Ivor’s travels which takes pace in an inheritance. The story is great but starts to fall apart at the end as if the author felt the whole thing was going on too long and decided to wrap it up quickly. Mr. Botz writes lovely rich stories and this ending wasn’t up to par with the other books in the series, in my opinion.
Forth book in the series, Ivor gets to experience another Inheritence which puts him into an accademia format for this book.
In some ways this book is a break in the series as Ivor is interacting with new characters in an Earth type scenario away from Earth.
Still a well written book overall. As it has not used AI the voice of the author comes through strongly. Its cute one libera add to the joy of reading this book.
I rarely do reviews, but this author is one of the best at advancing the story with interesting plots, while not getting bogged down in the minutiae. The main characters are given depth through action and speech without pages of inner dialogue. If you like these kind of litrpg stories then Brad Botz is one the best I’ve seen.
I enjoyed this. Finished in a day. Yea, its an academy arc but was done in the fashion of the other books. If you like OP MCs, who are smart and practicle, this is well done. If you was a MC struggles and requires plot devices, this is definitely not something for you.
This continuation of the Earth Reformation series is like a stand alone book. As in all of the books, the MC, Ivor is still massively over powered and is able to cream everything in his path. But... This is totally fine as he's surrounded by a well built world and story that doesn't get trampled by any repetitive formulaic boss smashing.
As the title says, this book starts off kind of slow but still very much hard to put down. The end seems to be pretty rushed. Like the author was being pushed to get the book out. Still an amazing book with an amazing MC and story. Well done. On that cliffhanger though...I dislike you. Great job.
Way too long in the fake world thing. Shouldn't have took over half the book. Story got old a 1/3 of the way through. The next book better get back on track from the start or I will read something else. I recommend reading the first 3 books and skipping this book entirely. You won't miss a thing about the actual story.
This wasn’t my favorite book in the series, but I did love the complexity of the inheritance. I think some parts of the inheritance were to drawn out while others parts were to quick. The characters, academy, and training was fantastically done and well written. Overall, this was a really cool step in the story and I can’t wait for what’s to come!
I wouldn't have credited an author being able to carry the over-powered/hidden-powers trope for so long and so well. I think the main thing that makes it palatable is Ivor's focus on helping worthy youngsters to achieve their potential. Of course that is leavened with a healthy dose of humbling noble bullies.
I read the 4 books. Man! I love them. Amazing story. Great twists. The MC character is just perfect, doesn’t take sh*t from no one. Respectful, not ungrateful. Think that he is entitled to everything. Works hard. Develop reasonably . I really appreciate your efforts. Can’t wait for the 5th book. Thank you so much,
Not quite what I thought based on the previous books. Even though the action was summarized closer to the end, this book took a long time to get to a weird twist and a cliffhanger that would have caused a major eye roll if it was interesting. Not really looking forward to what happens next.
This was another great book in the series. I really have a hard time stopping in these once I start them cause they’re so good and I look forward to where they’re going and I love that the character is overpowered but in a good way so I look forward to the next one keep it up.
I can’t believe you fooled me. I thought you were gonna do one year and leave it, but you totally finished the inheritance and kept me wanting more. I can’t wait for the next book and can’t wait to reread the series again.
It seemed like he wasn’t going to finish the inheritance in one book, but the grind of the first few semesters was largely gone by the last few. A reasonably satisfactory ending to the ‘quest’.
What a fantastic book it was so hard to put down a little sleep last night I thought that it would be a two-part book nope fulfilled with one book and new series
