Dreams in Norway

Sometimes the worst timing leads to the best things...

Lotta Jansen has spent years building her marketing business from the ground up, and it's finally paying off. Landing a campaign for Snug, one of the biggest names in international homeware retail, is the opportunity she's always worked towards. She has a plan, a deadline, and absolutely no room for distractions.

Mats Larsen is on the verge of walking away from everything. A high-flying career in investment banking, his Oslo apartment, and a life that looks perfect from the outside. Now he's betting it all on a luxury hotel on a remote island in the Norwegian fjords, a dream that is inspired or completely reckless, and he's not sure which.

When a chance encounter throws them together, the connection is immediate, real, and entirely inconvenient for both of them.

But Lotta has been here before — happy, hopeful, and badly wrong. With her biggest professional opportunity on the line and her heart refusing to behave sensibly, she's learning that knowing you can trust someone and actually believing it are two very different things.

Victoria Walker has been writing romantic fiction since a visit to Iceland in 2014 inspired her first novel. As well as writing, she spends her free time dressmaking, knitting and reading an inordinate amount of contemporary romance, occasionally punctuated by the odd psychological thriller and saga.

In the past she has worked as a cinema projectionist, a knitting and sewing tutor and has owned a yarn store, all things which will no doubt appear in her books if they haven't already.

Victoria lives in the Malvern Hills.

This book was about Lotta who gets a job marketing Snug Oslo. While at the airport she meets Mats, an investment banker who has bigger dreams for himself, namely the refurbishment of his grandfathers island farmhouse into a cosy hotel on an island in the Norwegian fjords (perfect, if you ask me!). They immediately hit it off and, after bumping into each other again in Oslo, they admit they want to see where things go...

This is a cute love story and Mats and Lotta's initial meeting was sweet and had me wishing either of them would take the plunge and ask for the other's number! I really liked that it was dual point of view, so that I, as the reader, could see each encounter and each moment throughout the story through Mats and Lotta's eyes. It also gave us deeper insights into both characters who each come with their own baggage and insecurities.

I've got to admit that some of my favourite scenes (actually all of my favourite scenes) happened in Norway and I even found myself contemplating a ticket to Bergen myself to experience it for myself!

This is the first series I've read by Victoria Walker (although I did read the short novella, Welcome to Norway, in which we met Mats) but I can assure you it won't be the last!

I received a copy of this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

Victoria Walker is an absolute pleasure to read for simple escapism and armchair travel! Her wonderful cosy romance series set in Iceland leads us neatly into this Norway series, with Anders advising his friend Mats about the boutique hotel he wants to open on his grandparents' island in Norway.

Meanwhile, Lotta Jansen has just snagged a fabulous new contract with Snug to help promote their stores on social media, in particular the flagging Norway one. She has a great idea to set up local collaborations, and Snug send her out to Oslo to set up the first one before rolling out to other stores.

Mats and Lotta bump into each other in the airport lounge - he is planning to leave his well paid corporate career behind him once the hotel is up and running, and she is just getting started in the corporate world. So is this a case of never the twain shall meet? In Victoria's hands? You bet your cosy forest cabin it's not!

Deliciously evocative descriptions of the environment and characters are what we've come to know and love with the Iceland series, and Norway doesn't disappoint. There's even a little cameo of some of the beloved Iceland team as well to enjoy - who will Guðrún set her match making sights on next?!

You know what you're getting with VW, and that is a comfortable coze with characters that have come to feel like real friends!

Another fabulous story from Victoria Walker - this time set in Norway. I have read all her Icelandic books and really loved them. Great characters, lovely plots and the most evocative creation of the settings she chooses..

This one was no different. Endearing, human, well rounded characters that I really liked and a great premise. Two very different people meet on a plane and are immediately attracted to one another. The story of them meeting up, developing their relationship and being open to the possibilities of being together permanently, was so well executed.

I wouldch@ve given this five stars but there was no epilogue and I really do love an epilogue! I am hoping for more books set in Norway so perhaps I will get my epilogue after all.!

I received a copy of this book in advance for an honest review.

I have read all of Victoria Walkers book and this one did not disappoint. I loved the Iceland one and again this one is a lovely read where you root for the characters. It’s refreshing to read a story where the characters don’t just hurtle into a relationship and it’s more careful and planned, and the overarching theme of this book gives you the reassurance that you don’t need to follow the steps set out for you to be successful.

I can’t wait to read the rest and get to know more characters along the way, and hopefully find out the outcome of the hotel!
