Some lies burn. Some truths destroy. Few loves survive.

Connor O’Hara. Thirty-two. Billionaire. Cold, controlled, untouchable. A man who protects his name and his sister above all else.
And he despises Celina.
He never lies. He never forgives. And he is certain she lied.

Celina Le has never believed she’s enough. Not smart enough. Not gifted enough. Everywhere she turns, others shine with an effortless brilliance she can’t spark.
She doesn’t belong in a world of billionaires. Her only connection is Gigi O’Hara, her best friend.
And for Gigi, Celina would do anything.
Including facing Gigi’s brother.

But hatred this sharp doesn't stay contained.
It twists. It tempts. It hungers.
Resentment turns electric. Contempt burns into desire. The lines between them begin to blur, tension coiling tighter with every breath.

I was excited by the tropes here, but it ended up not being the best fit for me. The formatting, length, and POV switches in the middle of some chapters made it a bit hard for me to stay immersed. Just a personal preference thing 😌

Thank you BookSirens & author for this arc in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The beginning of the book is a bit all over the place.
Gigi asks her brother Connor to bring her best friend Celina with him on his private jet so she doesn’t have to fly commercial. The problem is that, unbeknownst to Gigi, Connor hates Celina. And now they have to spend six hours on a private jet together. I thought we would get to see some of the tension between them here, but the flight itself is completely skipped which made the first chapter feel redundant. The story might as well have started in the second chapter, which takes place at Gigi’s birthday party where both Connor and Celina are in attendance.

The start of the story is quite slow. The MMC and the FMC barely interact on page for the first quarter of the book. Their first actual conversation starts on page 108.
Because of this, some of the chapters feel like filler without actually contributing to the story. The whole set-up feels kind of forced, to be honest.

When Connor starts to change his mind about Celina, it is very sudden. Quite some time passes in the book, but not a lot happens on page so instead of something gradually growing, it feels like it’s coming out of the blue.

When we got to the point where it was revealed why Connor hates Celina so much… I laughed. Out loud. As far as backstories go, I found this one a little (okay, a lot) weak.
A bit further in the story we got some extra explanation, but it still felt kind of lame to warrant years and years of hate.

It seems like we’re missing bits of information at several points in the book. For example, it seems like Gigi and Xander already knew each other other in Milan but this is never further explained (and turned out not to be true), Celina mentions that Connor “pissed her off so bad yesterday that it actually numbed her” but we have no idea what he did (only why he did it) even though it seemed important.
The chapters often seem to cut off in the middle of the action, leaving me confused and wondering what happened next.
There are also so many characters that are only mentioned a couple of times, which makes it difficult to remember who was who and what their value was to the story.

Despite all of the above, the writing style itself was nice. Besides some grammatical errors and typos, the story read quite smoothly.
And I must say, after around 40% the story gets significantly better. Where I honestly struggled a little bit in the first half, I had a way more pleasant reading experience in the second half. There were quite a few more typos in the second half though, but since I was enjoying the story more, they were easier to overlook.

Ultimately, the negative points do outweigh the positives for me, which is why I would rate this book two stars. That said, given that this is a debut novel, I do think the author shows potential.

Thank you to the author for an ARC copy!

This was an interesting read!! I think it nailed the billionaire romance vibe, especially with the *thing* that happens to the MMC. Very on brand. It also nailed the grumpy x sunshine, if that were the vibe.

Writing is good (some odd sentencing here and there) and it was a solid page length!

There are some things that I definitely noticed that could’ve been different. Connor as an MMC was very all over the place. I liked the genuine enemies dynamic in the beginning, but it literally disappeared. I mean that man hated her guts and we didn’t know why till a decent way in (stupid reason may i add) and it was NEVER discussed again. Celina didn’t even question him! She never even asked him why he hated her so much. She was also pretty standoffish with him initially, and we don’t know why. The insta-love to me was a miss. He doesn’t seem like that type of character, and even said he doesn’t really have love experience, yet it was so opposite of that.

I believe a big aspect of the relationship was the fact it was her best-friend’s brother, and we completely roll over telling her. We never see that interaction, we just get a summary of what happened. Odd thing i noticed. Little side note, some of the dialogue between “CJ” and Gigi can be changed. I don’t want to hear Gigi’s older brother say he wants to spank her. Thank you.

I also wish Xander played more of a roll in their relationship. We hear a lot about him initially, like all their run-ins, but then he disappears when Celina and Connor get to together. Does Celina even tell him she’s with Connor?

I can tweak this further, but overall, I was able to get through it and enjoy most of it! I think for what this was, it was good :)

ALSO FOR THE LOVE OF MY SANITY CAN WE GET A NEW COVER?!

Thanks to BookSiren for the ARC! This book had me hooked in the first half, but it definitely dragged toward the end. A tighter conclusion would've made it so much better. The business talk wasn't really my thing, but I have to admit—that twist at the end was awesome and totally worth it! A solid read, just could've used some editing.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I enjoyed this read; it was cute and gave me butterflies, which is what you want in a romance.

You can tell that this is L.T.'s debut novel by the way it is written. I do not doubt that the more books she writes, the better her writing will become.

At first, I found the POV change in the middle of the chapter strange, but I got used to it. I do read dual POV books, but I am used to the characters having their own chapters, not changing POV in the same chapter, but like I said, I got used to it.

I feel like Connor grew a lot as a character, which he needed to because he was a bit of a pretentious arse towards Celina to begin with. He judged her without knowing her, and I wanted to slap him upside his head a few times.

I had a couple of theories while reading, about who BWORM was and about who was behind a certain situation, and I was right about both :D

At about 40% in, I got butterflies as they finally gave in to their want for each other, and it was just cute. Whenever a book gets cute and happy at the 40% mark, I know that the characters are going to face difficulties before the end of the book, and I was right. This was once again a time when I wanted to smack Connor. I respected Celina for how she handled it; Connor didn't deserve her gentleness.

I liked Celina; she was quiet and caring. She loved fiercely. I didn't overly like Connor until halfway through, and then I didn't like him again, and then I warmed up to him again at the end. I liked Gigi; she was strong and caring.

The ending was cute and left me feeling warm and fuzzy.

The book was easy to read. The flow was somewhat good, but also slightly stilted at times. Like I said, as a debut book, this was really good, and I can't wait to watch this author grow.

This story follows successful billionaire & venture capitalist Connor O’Hara, his sister-Gigi and her best friend-Celina Le who Connor hates!

When Celina is faced with a 5 hour flight delay, Gigi demands Connor give Celina a ride in his private jet, to visit Gigi in New York. Connor wouldn’t dream of saying no to Gigi, but only nods at Celina when she boards his plane.

When Gigi accepts a work project in Milan, she tells Connor to check on Celina weekly, which he follows. If you mean placing eyes on her to make sure she’s alive then yes, Connor is following his sister’s instructions. Partway through Gigi’s work project, Connor is in an accident and is airlifted to New York for lifesaving surgery. Since it will take Gigi time to get back from Milan she asks Celina to be there until she can. Celina agrees.

Connor and Celina start to really see each other during Connor’s recovery and they try to fight their attraction until they finally can’t. Connor showed up at Celina’s apartment and they kiss, and are almost intimate when the power goes off. Celina proceeds to kick Connor out quoting not wanting to hurt Gigi. Connor has never felt these emotions before and tries to stay away-but he can’t.

This story pulls at your heart strings. It will have you rooting for Connor and Celina when they both don’t have a clue what their hearts need. Rooting for connection, for justice, you might cry, and possibly yell. You might plead for them to realize what they’ve got right in front of them. It’s an emotional journey- one you won’t want to miss.

ARC Reciew:

What a lovely debut book from L T Linden. A billionaire romance, friends older brother and miscommunication. Thank you so much for the opportunity of ARC reading your work.

There is trauma and suspense with our MMC being in an accident and discovering that it was not an accident at all. Just like the event that unfortunately took his parents, leaving him to raise his younger sister.
Discovering who did it and who helped uncover the truth were points I did not expect at all.

Our FMC is a harder worker. A lover is sci-fi books and even an aspiring author in her free time from her corporate job. So she instantly had my attention. Along with being shy, socially awkward but also stubborn at times. I think a lot of female bookworms may relate to her.

There are some spicy scenes nicely distributed throughout the book, a jacuzzi and the bag of a limo to name a couple of places. If you want to know the other places then you need to read the book.

There is also th miscommunication trope in this book that does lead to a fall out. But for our FMC it comes from a place of care and ensuring she protects those that she loves. Even if it’s means hurting herself with loss along the way.

If you’re dipping your toes into billionaire romance as well as indie authors then I would highly recommend checking Lies Out.

I appreciate the chance to read a free ARC copy, but this was just not the book for me I guess. DNF'd at 27%.

I was pulled in by the description of a cold billionaire enemies to lovers aspect, but boy did this miss the mark for me

The writing is choppy and could use more editing, especially with all the strange uses of contractions.

The characters are flat and shallow. Conner doesn't read so much the cold billionaire, but more of the spoiled, awkward older brother with a protection complex over his sister. I didn't get far enough to find out why he hates Celina so much beyond her "being a liar", but the back and forth with his attitude towards her was so surface level.

The whole set-up with the very dramatic horse incident lacks context and leaves the reader wondering why the hell a detective would be involved over a horse being spooked by a branch. To call it attempted murder was laughable. There are easier ways to attempt murder and also with horses being scared of things that move and things that don't, cops wouldn't bother to investigate. Like what??

I get they're rich, but it just felt extra out of touch to the point it got boring for me.

This book completely surprised me in the best way. Lies Out has that dangerous “just one more chapter” energy, and because the chapters are short and fast-paced, I kept sneaking in a few pages between tasks… which usually turned into way more than a few pages.

The story has a really nice balance of romance, tension, humor, sweetness, and some genuinely spicy moments 🌶️ without ever feeling overdone. The characters all felt very human to me. Even the flawed ones had enough depth that I kept changing my mind about them as the story unfolded, which made the relationships and twists way more interesting.

Also, without spoiling anything, there are definitely a few threads that left me wanting more in the best possible way. I would absolutely read another book with these characters because I wasn’t ready to leave this world yet.

Overall, this was such an impressive debut. Romantic, engaging, comforting, addictive, and very easy to binge-read. Definitely recommend if you like character-driven romance with heart, tension, and a little spice.

First of all, thank you so much to the author for the opportunity to read this book early 🤍
This is a debut novel, and I can definitely see the potential. The writing style was nice, easy to get into, and the overall vibe made the reading experience enjoyable.

The story is built around an enemies-to-lovers / best friend’s brother dynamic, although for me it leaned a bit more toward tension and misunderstandings rather than a strong “enemies” setup.

I also found myself wishing for a bit more buildup in the relationship, as some emotional shifts felt quite fast. In the same way, the reasons behind the initial tension didn’t feel very strong to me, which made it slightly harder to fully connect with that dynamic.

That being said, I still enjoyed the book overall, especially the writing and the vibes. And yes, the spice did not disappoint !!

For a debut novel, I think this is a solid start, and I’d definitely be interested in reading more from this author in the future.

ARC READ.
Okayyyy this was actually such a fun read. It had all the billionaire romance drama and tension that I eat up every single time. Connor and Celina had me hooked from the beginning and once I started, there were some scenes that i feel could have been dragged out a bit more, some of them just felt very quick but it was still really good.

I do wish the enemies-to-lovers lasted a little longer because the switch happened kinda fast for me concidering how closed off connor was, but overall I still really enjoyed their chemistry. Connor confused me sometimes but also… that man is SEXY so I forgive him a little.

The writing was easy to binge and the author seriously has so much potential. You can tell there’s a lot of talent there already and I’m genuinely excited to see what comes next.

Overall, such a good time and I am SAT for book two.

I ended up DNF’ing this one, which is always disappointing because the premise had so much potential for me. The blurb completely pulled me in — cold billionaire, tension-filled hate-to-love dynamic, family loyalty, buried secrets… it sounded like exactly my kind of read.

Unfortunately, the writing style just didn’t click with me. Some scenes felt overly drawn out while other parts felt underdeveloped, and I struggled with the pacing and connection to the story overall. I kept waiting to fully sink into the tension between Connor and Celina, but I never quite got there.

That said, this definitely feels like a “right book, wrong reader” situation. The emotional intensity and angst are there, and I can see why others may really enjoy it. Maybe I gave up too soon, but at around the halfway mark I realized I wasn’t invested enough to continue.

great fun read

This book is hot. Like, hide-your-kindle-from-your-husband (your boyfriend) hot. But beyond the spicy scenes, the emotional connection is there. I need my spicy books to have heart, and the way Connor and Celina characters were built and the tension/ yearning between the two of them got me head over heels. Connor protected his sister and his people. Celina protected Gigi and him. Then we have Xander… OMG, dreamy Xander! 5 stars for the love story and the yearning, 5 stars for the heat being well-written and well-placed, 5 stars for all the secondary characters including Gigi and Xander. A solid 5 stars. I can’t wait to read more of this author’s books.

It was a very slow burner, the interaction with each other were pretty spare at the beginning. The time gaps were a bit much at times. I was just into the scene with the dinner, next chapter it was a couple of weeks later. The reason for Connor to mistrust and hate her was more than silly, I thought there was a really good reason, but no. It was hot and cold, you think they finally coming together, but next scene two weeks later, both on different continents or different cities. After they got together it was a bit easier, but still kind of hard to get into the story. It was ok, but I could not get into it. Points for efforts.

Connor has never liked his sister’s best friend, Celina, and she’s painfully aware of it, though she has no idea why. Already battling her own insecurities, his coldness only made things worse, so she avoided him whenever possible… until circumstances forced them into each other’s orbit. As they begin spending more time together, Celina realizes Connor isn’t the person she thought he was, and Connor begins to see a side of Celina he never expected. Their chemistry becomes impossible to ignore, and the tension between them slowly shifts into something deeper. A sweet, engaging read with genuine emotional pull and undeniable attraction.

Dual POV, spicy romance with a gripping plot and plenty of yearning, HEA always'

The characters were very complex and compelling and complicated and perfectly steamy together. Plot was intriguing and intense and well paced. World building was excellent and solidly drawn. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

If you like Ana Huang, then you’ll like this author and her book. I was expecting a relaxing read, but was pleasantly surprised to be taking on an emotional rollercoaster. I was not expecting such a sweet ending to this billionaire romance. I was able to relate to Celina as I an introvert who prefer spending time with books than people and am very selective in the folks that I allow into my close circle of friends. I devoured the book in one sitting as it's an addictive and easy read. I can't wait to see what this author has for us next and will be eagerly awaiting her next publication!

This feels like 'Ana Huang’ meets ‘Succession’. A great read! I loved it so much that I dragged my ipad around to read it, and now, just bought a paperback version. The writing style was great. The pace and the tensions in the beginning were great, but the emotions, their breakup, and his yearning at the end took it up another notch. Chef kiss! Team Connor all the way. I want a man who yearns. I want a man who fights hard. Connor redeemed himself and the ending gave me butterflies. A wonderful romance and I’m following the author as she writes more in this billionaire romance sub-genre.

I really liked Lies Out!

I like how Connor (MMC) is a one-woman kinda man. Doesn't sleep around and who is very loyal. That kind of character has been hard to come by in my experience. This book had a good mix of yearning and spice, but the LIMO SCENE at the end 🤭🤭🤭!!!!

Characters were so lovable and I loved the plot!

Thank you L.T Linden for the ARC❤️

Spicy and Cozy read

This book was such a fun read. The author embedded witty banter and great tension, but also had the right balance between romance and friendship! The side characters were interesting and didn’t feel like fillers and I found myself laughing out loud. I think this is the first book by this author and I’m looking forward to the next books in the series.

BEAUTIFUL

Just a fully thought out story with beautiful characters and full of dialogue. Every piece just works. People coming in and out of the story made sense. The banter was there. The emotion was there. The love was there. Such a satisfying read.
