My first ARC read and I’m so happy about it so here’s a review!!
This is a enemies to lovers, small town, he falls first and harder and it’s a beautiful love story, I loved it. I was immediately emersed in this book because of the authors writing, it felt so easy to follow. But also the story in itself got me hooked from the start and it only got better and better the more I read.
First of all the fmc June, is so relatable and she’s such an interesting character to follow i found it fun and laughed a lot with her inner thoughts. I enjoyed her journey and growth by each chapter. Sometimes she was a whole lot stubborn, again very relatable! Her bantering with her love interest Benjamin YUP i loved it. He was such a grump and I was giggling all along.
Now to their love story that began with them disliking each other, having lots of bantering and disagreements. It was the best way to kick of their love because when it developed to something more, I was kicking my feet and squealing like a seal. No but seriously I loved them so much together. The chemistry and their tension omg, don’t get me started I could not put this book down because of the tension!
To everything else in this story it’s safe to say I was enjoying every chapter, every side character and the storyline with Cactus how sweet!? I’d rate it higher if only the book dived even deeper about Benjamin, and if we got a few pages more since i didn’t want it to end. Overall such an amazing book, beautiful love story, loved the plot and everything felt right.
Okay, wait, what did I just read? This book was so good. By the end of the book, I wanted to scream, it was that good (which I couldn’t do because I was supposed to be asleep by then😂) The guy who doesn’t date and the woman who’s given up on men fall in love? Yeah, that’s exactly what I needed!
Benjamin had me laughing, giggling, and kicking my feet. When he said, “Maybe I don’t want to share your lips with anyone else. So I’ll ask you again, June. Who are you going on a date with?” I WAS STUNNED… WHAT DO YOU ACTUALLY MEAN?
4 starka ⭐️or.
I don’t even know where to start — writing reviews isn’t something I usually do, but I would do anything for this book 🥺. Make Me Laugh has been one of my favorite books ever since I read it. It’s an easy read with a great pace, and I absolutely loved the bond between the characters — not to mention the amazing banter.
I don’t usually compare authors, but reading this gave me the same feeling I had when I first discovered Emily Henry. You know that warm, cozy, can’t-put-it-down kind of feeling. This book feels like a safe place to return to whenever you want to get lost for a while. It truly felt like home 💕.
I will never shut up about this book, and I’ll recommend it to everyone I know 🫶🏻. I can’t wait for the next book from Amanda.
I received this as an ARC and I’m sooo happy about it. Enemies to lovers, small town romance, he falls first and I’m here for it. Loved the characters and their dynamic❤️
The writing is so good. I could feel through the pages when she was insanely happy, and I could feel the shifting in the characters whiteout the author explicitly writing it. I cried of happiness and sadness. From someone who doesn’t cry (like really sobbing) from books, I cries for the last 100 pages or so. It moved me and I could relate to June (fmc). I also laugh for the first 2/3 parts of the book, like really laugh out loud.
If you want a really feel good book, with tension so thick it could cut glass, this is the book for you. I could easily see my self re-reading this book, my comfort book.
Calling all rom-com lovers! Here's your next read! I adored this book and I genuinely can’t believe it’s a debut.
Where should I even start? The title alone had me interested immediately because honestly, a man who can make me laugh is everythingggg. Probably the most important thing for me in a relationship tbh. And this book absolutely delivered because it was genuinely funny.
I laughed on the very first page because the FMC June literally has a timestamped schedule for her breakup. That immediately told me everything I needed to know about her. She’s a planner to her core and I loved that. June's very relatable character. A girl working too much, stubborn as hell, but still vulnerable underneath it all.
And the MMC, Benjamin Reyes. Are you kidding me with the name? It's the perfect name! He's of course 10/10 and perfect.
The banter, the sass, the teasing between the characters… absolutely on point. The text message exchanges between June and Benjamin had me kicking my feet and giggling the entire time. I also loved all the fashion references in this book. It gave very 90s/early 2000s, The Devil Wears Prada meets Sex and the City vibes.
The small town charm was done so well too. The elderly neighbour that kind of adopts the FMC, the cute little stores, the cozy atmosphere. It had everything I want from a rom-com setting. The author is also really good at setting a scene. The colours, the scents, the little details. During the storm scene I could practically smell the summer rain and picture myself curled up on the porch with a book. When the FMC is running on the beach, I’m right there with her admiring the sparkling ocean.
It's too funny that the author mentions Tessa Bailey books in this book because I really got those vibes while reading. And I always want to make this very clear when I say stuff like this: I’m not comparing the authors. Just the overall vibe and style. If you like Tessa Bailey, you’ll probably love Make Me Laugh.
Now for a couple of very personal rom-com pet peeves of mine and this is absolutely a me thing, so take it with a grain of salt: I didn’t fully buy this as a true enemies to lovers romance. This is enemies to lovers rom-com edition. And normally I’m super picky with that trope unless we’re talking fantasy, mafia romance, life ruining hatred, you know the drill. To me, our MMC never really seemed to dislike the FMC at all. He felt intrigued from the beginning, while the FMC was definitely the annoyed one. Which honestly led to a lot of the amazing banter because their dynamic was constantly sitting right on the line between irritation and flirting.
I also didn’t totally love their first meeting. The FMC seemed immediately annoyed just from seeing him, and I think I personally needed a tiny bit more buildup for that reaction. Maybe him constantly being in her way or repeatedly showing up everywhere in the store. But honestly, it’s a super minor thing overall.
This review is all over the place, but this book felt like a rom-com movie I’ve watched a hundred times in the best possible way. Fast paced, delicious, funny, cozy, flirty. Exactly what I wanted!
ARC: This book actually had me giggling and kicking my feet all the whole way through!!
If you were to search for “romcom” in a dictionary, I’m fairly sure the title of this book would be the description of it. Their banter? The secret feelings? Stolen glances? Top tier, 10/10, all of it. I am a sucker for enemies to lovers and this book did it perfectly. The mmc is green flags all around, and we love that. I wouldn’t have minded a deeper glance into his life, but I guess for a romcom it’s just deep enough. The fmc is relatable and funny. I especially loved her relationship to her sister; honest, but kind and loving. I had such a blast reading this book, could hardly put it down when I had to (honestly, why can’t life just be about reading books all day instead of going to work?). I even tried to take it with me on the treadmill during my workout🏃🏼♀️.
Even apart from the romance story, I loved all the characters in the book. The way they were written is heartwarming, and made me feel like I was actually there with them. Halfway through the book I couldn’t resist asking the author when her next book releases- in a joking manner of course- because I will be preordering that asap.
If you’re looking for a summery, fun and flirty read, this is the one for you. It’s easy to get through, has the perfect balance between depth and fun and is insanely cute💗.

Do you like hallmark movies? Are you into romcom? Then you should really read this book.
Right from the start it felt like I was walking into a hallmark movie and it had me smiling. I am a sucker for a good lovestory and this is really it. I loved the banter, I loved the chemestry between them. I loved the pace of the story, the way we get to know them slowly and where they are and what they do. The personal growth that June has as she slowly unravels from the controling June she was in New York. The city she goes to sounds so lovely, so peacefull. The story had me smiling and kicking my feet multiple times, I loved it. That lighthouse scene - pheeeew And Benjamin Reyes 🤤 The new hot book boyfriend. And refreshing with a romance that had closed door scenes. All of it was written so good and I never once felt like I missed something or that I had read something like it before. Yes I expected a lot of things that did happen just as you do when you watch a Hallmark movie but thats part of why we love it so much. It is the romance story impossible not to love if you are into such movies/stories.
ARC: Such a cozy, feel-good romance 🥹 This book delivered in so many ways.
I’ve read quite a few small town romances that didn’t really work for me, so I started wondering if maybe the trope just wasn’t my thing. But this book completely changed that and made me appreciate small town romance again 🤝
June felt like such a relatable and realistic character, and I especially loved that she was fashionable since I’m really into fashion myself. It added an extra layer to her character that made her feel even more real.
And Benjamin… he was so sweet 🥹 The way he truly saw her and actually knew how to communicate? We love to see it.
I also really liked the author’s writing style and the little details woven throughout the story, how they played pool both the first and last time they met. It was such a sweet full-circle moment that tied everything together 😮💨🙌
The story was a little predictable at times, but I think that naturally happens when you’ve read a lot of small town romances hehe 😅🙄
Overall, this was such a comforting and charming read, and I’ll definitely be picking up more books by the author.
Make Me Laugh was a cute, lighthearted romance that kept me entertained from beginning to end. I really enjoyed the small-town coastal setting and the contrast between June’s fast-paced New York life and the quieter atmosphere of Pearlband Beach. The banter between June and Benjamin was fun, and their chemistry had some genuinely sweet and funny moments that made the story easy to read.
I also liked the overall vibe of the book. It felt cozy, charming, and perfect for readers who enjoy enemies-to-lovers romances with a stubborn but lovable male lead and a female main character trying to figure out her life after everything falls apart.
That being said, the story felt a bit rushed at times, especially when it came to the emotional development and progression of the relationship. I would have loved more depth in certain scenes because some moments seemed to move a little too quickly. While the romance was enjoyable, parts of the plot were also somewhat predictable.
Overall, this was still a fun and enjoyable read that made me smile, and I think fans of small-town romances and romantic comedies will definitely enjoy
This was such a cozy and comforting small town romance🫶🏼🩷
I’m always a sucker for books with good banter, emotional tension and characters that slowly find their way to each other, and Make Me Laugh definitely delivered that for me.
June felt very relatable and easy to connect with, and I really enjoyed following her personal growth throughout the story. Benjamin was honestly such a lovable MMC as well. The chemistry between them felt natural, sweet and sometimes genuinely made me smile while reading.
The writing style was easy to get into and kept me turning the pages. It had that feel-good romcom vibe that makes you want to curl up with a blanket and read for hours.
Some parts were a little predictable at times, which is why this ended up being a 4 star read instead of 5 for me, but overall this was a really charming romance and I had a great time reading it.
If you love small town romances, cozy vibes, tension filled banter and a Hallmark movie kind of feeling, I’d definitely recommend picking this one up ✨
Where do I even begin with this book? It was warm, cozy, swipe-you-off-your feet type of romance book, with two main characters who had the patience and passion to fall in love regardless of the circumstances. And in their romantic chaos of finding each other, they were able to find both themselves and their dreams. If you are looking for that fast-paced, beautiful romance in a small town by the sea, that will make you giggle and toss your feet, this is it. And in all honesty, if you need someone to persuade you, that sometimes things come in your life to shake you up and show you that perhaps happiness is somewhere you never quite expected, this book will do the trick. Because everyone wants someone to persuade them, that they are capable of following their dreams 💕
“Are you daydreaming again?” His gaze travels to my mouth briefly before settling on my eyes again. “No. I won you. I don’t ever need to win anything again. I won it all.” My heart is seconds from bursting. From love. Happiness. Gratitude. And my face is nothing but a smile. “I love you, Benjamin Reyes.” “And I love you, June Collins.”
first of all i want to say a big thank you to amanda for sending me this early copy.
this book feels like an early 2000s romcom. this is gilmore girls meets the summer i turned pretty. I seriously devoured and enjoyed this book. I was smiling and screaming like an idiot through scenes. they are literally so cute together, I love their banter. i don't wanna give away too much that's why i'll stop now and let you enjoy this amazing book spoiler free ⭐️
This is my first book by this author but let me say, it will NOT be my last. I love every second of it! The characters captivated you from the start. I think it was very easy to relate to June’s busy lifestyle and letting life get in the way of actually living. The banter between the characters is adorable and hilarious! I would definitely recommend picking this book up and reading it this summer. It’s a perfect summer read!
this book was okay. i was definitely more into it in the beginning than the rest of it. if you want a romance book with literally nothing except for romance, then this is the book for you. for me personally, i need more than just romance in a book, and this didn’t give me that. the writing carried this book and i will say that the author has a lot of potential! so, i will probably be trying her next book.
WOW! I really have no words! So easy to follow and understand. A really cozy summer romance to read on the beach! I want like 10 more of these right on this second. A really easy fast-paced book that made me giggle a lot, a great book to get yourself out of a reading slump. So excited for what more Amanda has to offer. 💕
Without spoiling the plot: this was a hilariously funny, sexy, and deeply emotional book. There were several moments where I felt things all the way to my core. For anyone who loves romcoms, small town romance, enemies to lovers, dogs, Taylor Swift, and the kind of humor you find in The Office, this is the book for you! I laughed, I was frustrated and I cried. Truly a heartfelt book.
Cozy story with the best romcom-vibes. I really really enjoyed this, the only thing that makes me rate it a 3⭐️ and not higher is that I think it’s a bit fast paced but hey, sometimes you want a quick and easy story. And this is perfect for that💗☀️
I read the this as an ARC and I’m so pleased I did. I just couldn’t put it down. It’s an enemies to lovers romantic comedy, the way in which the characters were written made them so relatable. I just loved everything about this book definitely a must read
So happy that I got to be an ARC-reader of this gem of a story!
It did not take me many pages to fall in love with the MC and her inner voice, she’s so relatable! This book brought tears to my eyes but it also gave me butterflies (more than a few times).
I’ve seen other reviewers call it an enemy to lovers - I would rather call it a (very) relucant (subconscious) love at first sight.
A very compelling story - made to get lost in. Read it!
A fun, cozy and enjoyable book, set in a small town by the ocean 🌊☀️ I absolutely couldn’t stop reading this book!! I loved how Amanda Blom wrote this and made it fun and easy to read 🤍 If I could, I would definitely move to Pearlband beach 🏖️!! I believe the book could’ve been more of a SLOW BURN 🔥, however I would recommend it to everyone who wants to find their own passion and likes to devour a book within days! 🌸
