Stansberry expects a global monetary reset to hit in 2028-2032—probably 2029. Some people will survive financially and even grow, but for most others, the impact will be catastrophic, and whatever their wealth, it will be wiped out. The timing may be imprecise, but the coming event is inevitable, he writes.

Here, he presents his strategic approach to survival and growth when the Great Reset comes. By the “End of America,” he means the present era, since 1971, when President Nixon declared that the U.S. currency would no longer be backed by gold. That has led to perpetual government overspending, a crippling national debt of $36 trillion and rising, the printing of more and more paper money, and systemic inflation. The unbacked dollar simply “isn’t what it used to be,” as the saying goes, and the world’s central banks already are buying more gold annually. Confidence and trust are waning, and the Age of Unbacked Paper Money is ending.

When the reset comes, it will be quick and terrible, like a fire. Then begins the opportunity for America to renew itself. The following era will be a new High. We will develop a new financial structure and build a new future. “And almost certainly, all of this building will be done with robotics and AI, creating a world that we truly cannot begin to imagine…it will be incredible—more fantastic that you can possibly imagine. That is what Americans do after a crisis. It is the defining characteristic of our national temperament.”

He tells the reader how to build portfolios that will preserve and even grow your wealth, while others’ portfolios vaporize in the fire. His Permanent Portfolio strategy is defensive, conservatively aiming at survival, preservation, dividends, and modest growth. The Honeycomb Portfolio strategy (not for everyone) is offensive, aggressively aiming at faster growth. He explains in detailed, practical language how to invest in either one (or both) prior to the global monetary reset.

His knowledge of economics, from the Roman Empire and since, is quite impressive. He knows history, he tells many good stories, his prose is very readable, and his ideas are very thoughtful, practical, and persuasive.

Insightful and Thought-Provoking

The title will sound alarmist, and could be easily written off by the public as yet another doomsday prophesy that will go unfulfilled. But Porter presents compelling evidence, including historical, economic and philosophical context and insights, that shed significant light on the economic and moral morass in which we currently find ourselves.

Even if Porter’s predictions don’t materialize as anticipated, this is a sober read that will leave every reader, and their progeny, better prepared and better off, both for future broad-scale disruption and upheaval, but also for navigating the present turbulence we now encounter daily, bringing greater peace of mind.

Should be required reading for everyone!

I’m not well versed in Economics but I, like every American, understand my dollars don’t buy as much as my parents did, and my kids can’t afford to be on their own. This book explains how we got here. It’s not pretty. This is the documented history no one teaches or talks about. The last half of the book are suggestions on how to prepare and protect your assets as best as you can depending upon your circumstances. I read this in one day. It is well written and thought out. Porter is a recognized expert and his examples are engaging. Not just another boring economic history book.

Inspiring

I’m not much of a money man or economist but this book inspired me. More than just from a monetary perspective, this book spiritually inspired me. It asked of us to build for the ones who come after us. Much of what we build for in the coming New Age we will not see. If you are the type that likes to watch things grow in the midst of adversity and in spite of it, this is the book for you. The book is easy to read for the layman. I am not an economist or a mathematical mind. Porter makes complex ideas sound simple. I plan to implement his strategies and I hope you will as well. Enjoy!

Clear, concise, engaging writing

You’ve heard about the Fourth Turning for years now. Porter introduces you to past Endings and Beginnings. The crisis is coming. Porter gives us a clear understanding that it will be, at best unpleasant for some and beyond painful for many. But he also shows this cycle continues over generations. We can survive the coming crises in the Fourth Turning (Winter Season) and rebuild America in the Spring. It always has. But you must build a foundation now for survive during the crisis and more importantly - for your future family

Thought provoking factual forecast

I found this book to be both unsettling and hopeful. A candid appraisal of our world’s economic and financial position — particularly pointed at the United States. Left Right or Neither or Both the stark reality of US and World Debt is sobering. I wish I didn’t think the author was right. As with all forecasts the timing will likely be off but the end result is very much in play. I appreciate the concrete recommendations to prepare. Well worth the read.

Another excellent book written by one of my favorite investment newsletter writers, Porter Stansberry. He's always such a great story teller. And this book is a Must Read! Packed with good info and useful investment ideas and options. His decades of research and experience are clearly evident as he explains important and prescient concepts & info from Neil Howe's The Fourth Turning. He always makes it very personal and intimate too. To me, it shows that Porter truly cares about the reader. Please read this book, and follow his admonition to Do Something to prepare.

GREAT read and Advice

I've been following Porter for almost 15 years through Stansberry Research and now Porter and Co. This was EXACTLY what I needed (and wanted) to hear at this point in my life. I read the entire book today. Easy to understand and presented so well. I will be following this advice to a tee. He hasn't steered me wrong so far! I am gifting the book to my adult children as well so they can be as prepared as possible.

A tough but critical read

we’ve all heard about the Fourth Turning and we can see it happening now. Porter puts the specifics in place and gives his advice “as if our positions were reversed” as he always has. This is an important book for the survival of our future generations. we won’t like the medicine, but we need to take it.

so many valuable insights

The author is one of my favorite observers and commentators on our current socioeconomic situation. He is honest and unapologetic. He shares, in this book, economic insights that are worth many times the price of the book. I will put into practice what I have learned and I anticipate being extremely grateful that I purchased and read this book.

Prophetic, grounded, and easily understood

I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I can see the challenges coming already, and the book makes it even clearer. The portfolio strategies help the investor to make sense of it all and how to steer through it but make it clear that there is no free lunch - we will all feel pain when the reckoning comes to pass.

fantastic read for surviving our government’s mistakes

This book opened my eyes regarding how we got to the current state of inflation, government abuse of our tax dollars and the loss of the credential career.
More importantly, I learned how to invest in gold and productive durable goods using criteria for investment using common sense. The honeycomb approach is one I will try myself

Tremendous Exploration of a Tremendous Challenge

We can all feel the angst that has blossomed around us. Porter takes us to the dilemmas and the unsustainable profound changes that must prevail.

This book, for a person with children and grandchildren they love is a call to action for supporting our families in turbulent, but transient, disorder.

It answers the uncomfortable feeling I have

This fairly answers the many questions I have each day as I sit and do the same thing I have done for the last 40 years. Maybe it can help me see the purpose in continuing for my kids even though the work feels empty at times.

it’s going happen

Maybe not like Stansberry thinks but change is coming.
I do like his Weyerhaeuser recommendation and he’s spot on about how the wealth has been stolen.

disgusting propaganda

He promotes hanging black people and American Civil war. Out of all the books that are banned in this country, this should be one of them.

Sobering Warning and A Plan to Win

Is he right? I think so. If he is, we are in store for a very unsettling few years. Get set now, and maybe you won't get destroyed. Great specific recommendations. This is not a waste of time; read it and be wiser.
