Tiny Buddha's 365 Tiny Love Challenges

Rate this book
From the founder of the popular online community Tiny Buddha.com comes a daily inspirational guide of simple and creative challenges to help you actively spread love to those around you

Tiny Buddha’s 365 Days of Tiny Love Challenges is a simple guide to help readers pursue happy, connected lives and bring greater love into the world.

Each week begins with an inspirational message written by members of the TinyBuddha.com online community, followed by seven days of short challenges that focus on self-love, giving and receiving love in relationships and friendships, and spreading love in the world, such as:

• Write a list of three things you appreciate about yourself and place it somewhere in your home where you’ll frequently see it throughout the day
• Compliment someone who serves you in some way (for example, a waiter, barista, or bus driver) on how well they do their job
• Keep an eye out for someone who looks sad—a friend, coworker, or even stranger—and say something that might make them laugh or smile.

By using the book each day throughout the year, readers will learn to develop closer bonds in relationships, let go of anger and bitterness, better understand themselves and their loved ones, and turn strangers into friends.

A book of affirmations to do through the year to show people you care. This is for both strangers and family. I only did a few days since I really want to start on January 1st to try to go through the whole book. The few I did seemed to help me have better days and make me less anxious over the small things so I could focus on the big things like my classes. While not everyone is going to like the book, even though the book is all inclusive, I suggest it for those in the multiple faiths that have Buddhist leanings.

Lori has taken a concept of "gratitude journaling" to a new level by offering this book to those that don't enjoy writing every day. For each day of the year, there are words of inspiration, words of encouragement, and words of love challenge for your own self-worth. In between each of these is another writer's story of overcoming hardships that many of us experience.

There is so much wisdom and positive thought in this book, that, if you use it every day as it is set-up, you can't help but find the good and happiness in each day you live. Once the year is up, you can start again. I keep it by my bedside and read it right before getting up in the morning to start my day in a positive way. Lori has a way of saying just what I need to hear each day in the book. I am grateful to be a part of it, but more grateful to have it to look at each day to help me remember that it's better to be happy each day, then to find things to bring you down. If you are looking for a daily pick-me-up and way to think more positively, this is a great book for you! Thank you, Lori Deschene for writing and sharing this with us.

365 tiny love challenges❤️✨
Lori Deschene

Started this book on January 1st 2021..here I am 365 days later, after having travelled a wonderful journey with this book.

I am not exactly a reading one page kinda person as I usually read like 10 pages per day in even the books that was for a whole year to read, but somehow this book made me wanna take one page at time and try to finish each challenges on the day or just remember the task and carry over to do it on another occasion, I think this was the best part for me about this book.

Having categorised each month with a particular title /quality and thoughts shared by many people in it about it. This book is a bliss to stick too.

There was a situation during one of my encounters with someone which I usually would have confronted and definitely made a fuss about, but then the task for that day was " to let someone off the hook for something they did to you instead of confronting " not sure why I remembered those words exactly at that moment, but then I don't regret sticking to the task that day and felt at peace at the end of the day. That's how much the book has influenced me over this year.

In a way it felt like an interactive journal with the questions behind each tasks which I definitely answered in my head every day even though I didn't write down ✨

This is the second book I've read from the people behind the Tiny Buddha website and I was equally disappointed with both of them. This one is a mix of daily exercises to better attune yourself to the people and world around you and become more appreciative. Nothing new there. The rest is filled with the type of stories usually found in the Chicken Soup books mixed with a bit of Buddhism. If you want a better experience, I'd stick to the website.

This book will change your life within the first few days! Makes me wonder, why do we so often choose to be unhappy? Enjoy...and remember: you get out what you put in. Meaning that the effects on your daily life experience will be more intense and surprising if you actually answer the questions and complete the exercises, than if you only read through them. But even just reading through them can be nice.

A charming and wonderful book that shifts the reader's focus outward instead of inward. I definitely benefit from reading my daily snippet and, hopefully, so do the people around me! I swear, if I didn't love Jesus so much, I'd make a fantastic Buddhist.

This was one of my 10 daily reading books for 2017, a gift from my wife Chantel. I thought the book was great, but a bit ambitious in terms of expecting that one could complete each day's assignment that day. I captured eight quotes from the book for my daily journal in 2017.

The interlude stories from different individuals, 1-2 pages each, are quite inspiring and relate extremely well to the subsequent "Love Challenge."

The book doesn't have seasonality, but that isn't particularly important for this book. Although having a "co-worker" related assignment on January 2 only works if you work that day (I didn't).

There were some days when one had to complete a written assignment, and those days were most applicable to the idea of a daily reading book. (Example: "Think of three recent experiences when you asked for something and were rejected. Write below what you asked for, why it was hard to ask, and why you shouldn’t let this discourage you from asking someone else for this in the future. Refer to this whenever you feel nervous to ask for something you want or need.")

I think this book would work better as an exercise book to work through more slowly than daily. Sometimes it might take several days or a week to complete one of the exercises in a way that would promote personal growth.

Nonetheless it is well written and inspiring, even if you can accomplish 7 challenges per week!

Well-designed book. The colors, the binding, the typesetting, the paper...
For every month, there is a theme. At the end of every week, there are 2 short reflections from contributors. Each month is wrapped up with a series of guide questions about the month’s challenges.

Growing up, we always knew we should be kind, thoughtful, appreciative, forgiving etc.
This book answers the question “how.”
Not everyone grew up in an environment where these values are taught AND actually modeled.
Even better, the challenges include the “why” which makes the reader connect the action to the purpose behind the challenge. Thus, in the form of questions, the reader is able to form his/her own justification why this challenge could work and why it’s beneficial to keep doing it.
The world could become a better place through adults taking responsibility to actually learn how to love.

The book provides daily practices or reflections to help us move towards more love, kindness, forgiveness and compassion. I think it is a useful tool for someone wanting to start these kinds of acts.

I like how there's a deed for each day of the year but sometimes you can't plan for that to be a doable deed for the day. And I feel like the deeds could be more creative.

I couldn’t get past the first chapter.

The book didn’t resonate with me, and some suggestions felt unrealistic.

It might appeal to other readers, but it wasn’t the right fit for me.

Rather enjoyable self-help book on gaining love for others, while finding love for yourself. Although I probably will not do most of the exercises described in this book, they are very interesting reading and I enjoyed the personal tales of change.

I followed this book for the past 9 months. It is helpful and I learned a few things but trying to keep up with it every day was stressing me out and so I decided to be done.

A little new if you are familiar to the gratitude journaling. However, there is a framework with all the aspects to consider in journaling that’s well organised.
