Volume 2 in the ponyplay erotic romance trilogy: The Copper Horse

London
1907, twenty years into the zombie Plague

After being kidnapped into slavery by a powerful crime family member - Erik Dal, Reuben is slowly adjusting to his new life. He is now Copper, Erik’s proud stallion, serving in any way his master might require - from pulling a cart, to pleasures in the bedroom. But his journey has only begun, and as he becomes increasingly attached to Erik, his devotion will be evaluated. From getting bred by another owner’s stallion to Erik marking him for ever, each of Reuben’s decisions makes him more of a pet and less of a human.

Becoming Erik’s horse isn’t just about getting pampered, wearing hooves and tack, or providing the master with pleasure. It becomes a violent game of prize and punishment, but when Reuben understands he too has leverage - Erik’s attachment to him - he becomes an active player in the negotiations of his stay at the mansion. But with his master’s grand annual birthday party approaching, his loyalty will be tested like never before, and the tasks he is to perform might prove too much.

More kinky pony play with Reuben and Erik.Loved it!

These two Authors have created some amazing, loveable and totally different couples in their books and this is no exception.I adore Reuben and Erik.

In book one Reuben was more defiant but here he just wants to please Erik and be the perfect pony for him. He's just adorable!
Erik is trying so hard not to get too emotionally involved with Reuben but is increasingly infatuated with Reuben. He can be so ruthless in certain situations but is horrified at the thought of hurting Reuben and never really intends to humiliate him( there were a couple of scenes where I really felt for Reuben ).

While the first book wouldn't be considered a romance, this one is slowly turning into so much more than pony play.
You can definitely feel the start of Political instability and I'm a bit frightened about how this will affect Reuben and Erik but.....bring it on,I can't wait!
I can't fangirl enough about how much I love these Authors.Their books are raw, gritty,so damn sexy and they keep on pushing the boundaries but it works every time for me.

If you've read these two books check out Jack's Punishment......it's about time that gorgeous boy got some loving....

You won't ever get what you want until you allow yourself to have it.

The book is titled perfectly. In this one, Reuben truly accepts and revels in his role as Erik's Copper. It isn't always easy and Reuben sometimes fights it. He struggles with the humiliation his desires evoke. It isn't until his lies endanger someone else that he finally admits the truth.
“So... is the master the ice cream?”
Reuben nodded. “And I never had ice cream before I came here.”
The overarching plot of the series and the Dal family and their assorted businesses is explored further as the world of Bylondon is being torn apart not only by the zombie plague, but civil factions, too. Erik is an important, if marginalized member of the family due to his proclivities. Quite simply, his skills are too valuable to ignore him. With Dal family business that needs doing, it means getting to know the infamous members better. Frey is every bit the terror one expects, a brute with five wives.

My favorite part of this series is the sense of spectacle. The theatricality of the presentation of everything from the city, to Copper's gear, and the characters themselves. I love it. It's not melodrama; it's performance. In fact, I generally despise melodrama and get bored, but spectacle is too fantastical to ignore.

So the lavish costuming, gaudy decor, outrageous scenes and play are entertaining. And the playing in this takes a step up with strong emphasis on public exhibitionism and some delightfully kinky partner sharing. Erik does like seeing Copper play the mare almost as much as Copper enjoys it. I also like that there is a delineation between Reuben and Copper. When he performs as Erik's proud stallion he is completely different than the self conscious man. Praise kink: there is plenty when Copper performs beautifully, but Erik also has some missteps that acerbate Reuben's insecurities. They both are a little worse for wear coming into this relationship and you begin to understand why with the history sharing between Reuben and Erik.

Beware! Though there is nice character resolution--like HUGE smile, the book ends with an overall series cliffhanger. So, let's hope the final book in the trilogy comes quick. There are imperfections in the book, but the sheer entertainment and pleasure it brought me rates it all 5 stars.

Overall, Kinky Prancing Pony

Favorite quote:
“You’re being bred by a true champion, Copper,” he said, gently stroking Reuben’s cheek where it burned the most.

The Copper Horse: Pride

Edit 09/09/2016 - We may or may not be writing a short story about Mr. Fry and Jack getting together... ;) (we are)
It will come out before book 3 (which we are now writing! :D ). It will be free on our website and newsletter, and we'll attach it to book 2 once it's done, since that's where they got together :)

“It’s like when you have a taste of vanilla ice cream: you don’t want to go back to eating rat pies.”

“So... is the master the ice cream?”
Reuben nodded. “And I never had ice cream before I came here.”

Copper is now a proud stallion. He has embraced his role as Erik's pet horse, and he tries his best to please his master. He enjoys the pampering, his stomach is always full, the sex is amazing, and his master has all these great plans for him.

But Copper/ Reuben is NOT a proud man. He's ashamed not just because he enjoys his place as Erik's horse, but because he likes men in general. He hasn't told anybody that he's gay, and lets everyone think that he's kept there against his will. Because what will others think if they knew that this is the happiest he's ever been? And that's where shit hits the fan.

The truth is that Reuben is falling hard for Erik and their relationship is almost 100% consensual. There's sex, but there's also affection and gentleness. Erik is hesitant to fully trust Copper, because of what happened to him the last time he trusted a "horse". I absolutely loved the opening scene narrated from his POV, about that fateful incident.

What I loved the most was the versatility, the "give and take" in Erik and Reuben's relationship. They 're not just master and slave with nothing in between. Erik is the master but he kept letting Reuben down. And then owned his mistakes, and tried to make up and please his pet. Also, Erik might show Copper off and share him with others, but not with anybody and only when Copper is willing too. He's possessive and protective, and if you hurt his stallion, he will skin you alive.

Pride is much more kinky than Fear. Humiliation, degradation, animal (all kinds) play, voyeurism, exhibitionism, orgy parties....you name it. That breeding scene!

If I had to use one word for this story, it would be brilliant. Everything is taken care of: the costume details, the world-building, the political situation that will probably play a big part in the next book, the secondary cast...

Favorite scenes: the tattoo scene, Erik and Reuben in bed, as man on man instead of man on horse, and the very last scene told from John's POV.

The ending of this installment (brilliantly told from a secondary character's POV) is very satisfying as far as the romance is concerned, but it's also a cliffhanger regarding the overall story.

I can't wait for the final part.

I liked this more than I expected. I enjoyed the slowly growing social unease beneath the surface story, which was --let's be honest -- pretty fucking soppy and absent any tension between the two MCs.

There was a lot of detail about Copper's tack and hooves and accessories, if you're into that.

I'll definitely check out part 3.

Say yes to Uniporn! Freaking love the sweet surrender and the firm hand.

In comparison to the first book, Pride has upped the humiliation and degradation scale another notch, or rather several notches. Ahem.. that breeding scene was so intense I am melting alongside Copper in that stable under the watchful voyeuristic eyes of the ponies' masters. It's freaking hot! My ereader was smoking up my room. I was so aroused I wish for a pet of my own to go down on me while I watch that intense scene again and again. It could possibly be the highlight of the book really.

Copper is not an honest horse like he always claims to be. He is manipulative, cowardly, greedy and rather self-centered. Yet I couldn't help but to like him. His weak points makes him all the more real and interesting. He does have some likable traits as well and deep down inside he isn't a bad guy. He is just a regular underprivileged guy seeking for better things in life. Actually he is quite endearingly sweet in nature. Pleasing others seems to come naturally to him. Copper is a submissive down to the bones and a total happy bottom. An inborn mare instead of the stallion his master was grooming him to be. I think his hole would cheerfully suck any dicks as long as it makes his beloved master happy. That's how devoted and a good pet horse he is. He is a joy to be ridden and ridden hard would be his best reward for he is truly not fit to be the rider himself.

In Pride, Copper is no longer as self-conflicted as he was when he was first forced into the role of an animal, a mere pet to fulfill another man's dark desire. Copper has learned to appreciate his new lifestyle as a pampered pet and the biggest problem he has now is keeping his sexual disposition of a stud-loving horse a secret from the his master and the household. He fears of being thrown back to the derelict district where he had came from should his master finds out that he was being taken for a ride like a fool. Thing is, it is getting tougher hiding his secrets the more smitten he was by Eric his beautiful master. Would he be able to throw away the last shred of his protective layer in risk of losing his pride as a man? Discarding his remnant of humanity? Embracing his new identity makes him feels loved, alive and freer that without his shackles. It would make his beloved master very happy yet his pride would die along with Reuben the man he once was. Is Eric worthy his love? The Eric that has been and still could be cruel and harsh to him whenever things does not go his way. Still, Copper sees hope when he caught glimpses of Eric's tenderness. One thing for sure, Eric is very fond of his new pet horse and Copper has gained confidence that his precious head is not going to be displayed on the wall of that creepy dining room.

There are times when I felt that Copper is ready to wear a skirt and paint his nails in pretty rainbow colours. Yet I could not not like him. In a way his girlish side makes him all the more adorable even for a buffy guy like him. What I truly feel about Copper? Well I think he makes a damn fine pet horse. He's not going to be able to play stud horse for you but he is one that you'll love to cuddle with and watch him getting fucked hard by a studly stallion. Or you could just do it yourself and make him squeal for you. How delightful!

It is nice that this time around I could get to know Eric better rather than just watching him from a distance, puzzling over what makes him tick. I could feel Eric's loneliness and understands why he did what he did to fill that deep void left by his first stallion's premature departure and the sacrifices he had to make being a member of the ruthless Dal crime family. In a sense Eric is more fleshed out in Pride and that is good move or else he is just another face in the crowd.

While I must confess that there are certain parts that is rather baffling to me which mostly concerns Eric's action towards Copper. One involves his choice of atonement of the wrongs he did to his poor pet. The other I think best to save it since it is tough to avoid being a spoiler.

Overall, Pride is a bloody damn good human-equine erotica which also comes complete with engaging plots to get you glued to your ereader while you are vigorously beating the meat or polishing the pearl in frenzy.

Absolutely adored this book cover. The picture captures Copper in full equine fineries during a debauchery party at his master's mansion.

Continuing in the timeline and set in 1907 London, Reuben/Copper is continuing to acclimate to his new home with his master, Erik Dal of Bluefinger. Originating from meager means, Reuben wasn’t properly schooled in books or etiquette, but he has an intense need to please and do a proper job. In this installment, Reuben experiences a transformation in how he views his role as a pony and companion to Erik. In his attempt to make strides, Reuben tries to earn his master’s affection and wants to be his one and only pony.

“You are my prized stallion and you can take me into the sky even without those wings.”

As pony and master, Copper and Erik are quite charming together at times. When Erik spoils Copper or treats him with dignity, Copper feels enormous pride. However, Copper still has some sticking points about his situation that earns him severe punishment. Yet, when they roleplay, the kink is intensely hot and oh so perfectly dirty! The breeding scene was off the charts and what a perfect birthday party.

“He was being taken so roughly, without his explicit consent, with spectators, yet glorious arousal spread all over his body. He was being taken. Taken.”

What I loved about this story is the forged connection between Reuben and Erik. Reuben truly has a heart of gold and is at the mercy of the enigmatic and mercurial Erik. I also like how Erik is unabashedly open about his kinky predilections. In addition to the pony play, a broader story arc affecting Bylondon is developing and I’m curious to see how it ends.

Pride is a kinky story about acceptance of oneself. This book would appeal to kink-seekers and those that enjoy elements of steampunk. I look forward to reading the final book in the series.

I really, really liked this book - all Pomp and Circumstances, Lots of Detailed Costuming, Public Exhibition, plus the growing relationship and trust between Erik and Reuben as a man and Copper as Erik's prized stallion while the world around them is imploding.

Reuben finally begins to accept that he likes what he's becoming and wants to make his Master proud that he has a stallion like him. Erik loves to show Erik off and those scenes were hot beyond measure (or I'm kinky, lol).

Erik does make some missteps due to his past and tries to make amends to Copper/Reuben which ultimately brings trust to each other. Unfortunately as things improve between them, the world surrounding is falling apart - and Erik and his family have made enemies who want to take them down and the political structure is crumbling....which leads us into waiting anxiously for book #3!

This journey keeps getting crazier and crazier.

This is my least favorite of the books for one personal reason, I don't like to share, I just don't. (Kat and Agnes if Seth and Dom ever sleep with other menI might hate you because they are my OTP) so when Erik shared Reuben I was not a happy camper, even if Reuben was (that boy sure loves to bottom) .

This book takes us deeper into Reuben and Erik's journey, they start to develop feelings for each other and we learn a lot about Erik and his past, I don't think it's enough to understand him but enough to not hate him.
This story is so emotionally consfusing because Erik can be such an asshole and you wanna slap him but he is man enough man up to his mistakes and when is in a good mood he treats copper with such care that is hard to remember all the bad things.

There is a scene that broke my heart, I never thought i would cry in this series but my heart broke for poor Reuben and what happened to him.

Superb!!! 4.5 Stars!!!

What decadent follow-up to the first book in the series, Fear!!

This second one provides just as much wicked, kinky treats from Erik and his horse, Copper (aka Rueben).

Their relationship deepens into something more than master and slave and it’s truly amazing how the intricacies of this unique connection is developed by Merikan. Fabulous!

Still beware of: non-con, torture, rape, serious kink, public sex with pets on display, and zombies.

Love it so hard!!!

Can we talk about this gorgeous cover? It captures Reuben/Copper and Erik perfectly, even their dynamic shines trough. Really pretty.
The story picks right up where book 1 ends and Copper's journey and growth to truly accept himself is beautiful but not easy to read.
I love their evolving relationship and how it shows in little actions or changing thoughts and behavior.
One of my favorite parts was

I'm sorry my review is quite late in the game, because I love this series quite dearly (as you can probably extrapolate from my extreme use of emoticons above) and I think it needs as much exposure as I can provide (which is not a lot, unfortunately). I read this book the moment I received it. I felt like I'd been waiting my entire life, honestly, and it didn't disappoint.

This book is quite interesting because, as the title states, it describes Copper's transition into an individual who is capable to embracing his identity and finding pride in it. The world is not -- can not be-- comprised of leaders and movers and shakers... and quite frankly Copper is definitely not one of them. By nature, Copper is quite naive and submissive and simply not someone comfortable in his own decisions; he cannot bravely face the situations he is placed in -- or was born into-- and often blames other people (not unjustly, because his life is quite unfair). However the character growth in this is quite heart warming because we see him face quite a few of his "Fears" (as the previous book is named). For example, his shame of his apparently 'depraved' desires (homosexuality + all the deliciously kinky things that Erik unleashes on Copper). It's lovely to see Copper finally reach an equilibrium internally, where he can admit his enjoyment of wonderfully hedonistically gay gay gay sex (I think everyone took a deep breath of relief at that moment). Their relationship also faces much development, with the playing field leveling quite evenly once Copper realises the leverage he holds through Erik's deep attachment to him. It will definitely be interesting watching this development unfold further.

A point of interest which gives this series a wonderful level of depth is the world building. The book is quite introspective and solipsistic and Copper is so well characterised. He is hugely flawed, all the more endearing for it, and his limited narration as someone who is naive, flawed, and uneducated gives us, the reader, an interesting medium through which we have to interpret his environment. Set in a post-apocalyptic world where humanity is enclosed in protected cities and zombies walk freely outside, political machinations and upheaval occur as a very well executed, subtle backdrop which Copper has little understanding of, and yet we the readers grow increasingly wary at its implications on Copper's simplistic lifestyle and needs. This political upheaval culminates in the background of this book, and I suspect, will explode in its sequel. It will be stunning to see this explosion because it will irrevocably shift Erik's position of untouchable authority, I suspect, and have huge implications for the development of an equal romance.

It seems strange that not once have I mentioned BDSM or pony play or any of that such in this book when to others, that seems like such a glaring, dominating feature of the book that makes it a hit or miss from the blurb get-go. To me the details are completely and utterly delicious yet somewhat irrelevant when it comes to my admiration. The sex, the kink, the powerplay... is wonderful, gorgeous, mouth watering-- it's a huge part of why I enjoy and reread this series so much. But as a whole, the book is executed so well and the... unusual kink aspects... are nothing but an asset to its quality, in my opinion.

I recommend. With five gloriously depraved, whole-heartedly admiring stars... although I know many will not consider -- or perhaps (god forbid) not enjoy -- the book due to its interesting choice of poison.

This gorram book, y'all! *___* and @____@ at the same time.

As much as I dig Erik and Reuben-Copper's fun times at Erik's mansion, it was refreshing to go outside. Meeting Erik's friends, enemies, and his hella scary brother was fun and scary in the best ways.

I also liked seeing Reuben-Copper being intimate with other people aside from Erik. I mean, one horrible scene aside, the poly aspect was part of their play. It also brought in some v. surprising players into the narrative. #AndthatsallImgoingtosayaboutthat

That terrible scene (in which Reuben-Copper gets raped) was revolting. I totes ended up skimming through it. I understood the reason for showing the contrast on what consent and the lack of it look like, though.

One thing I loved was seeing how Reuben had integrated/accepted his pony persona. That he'd found the freedom within being Copper. The idea of constructing and deconstructing one's self was v. well-done.

Erik and Reuben-Copper's relationship was, like always, a rollercoaster ride. I was totally undone by the end of the book.

My one gripe is going into spoilers: Like, was it so that [character] could be removed from the main story? It was weird af.

I have to say that it ends on a cliffhanger that's well written. I legit went WHOA! as I reached the end.

TL;DR: This is, so far, my fave of the series. Erik and Reuben-Copper's adventures continue with all kinds of naughty fun as their world starts to go topsy-turvy. Although I missed Jack and Reuben-Copper's interactions a bit, I was totes dying as I flipped the pages. This is NOT a standalone. You definitely need to read Book 1 in order to understand this novel.

I CANNOT get over this book. This is the second part in the Stallion trilogy and it just got way better then the first one. It starts off where book one ends and we see how well Reuben starts adjusting to his new life. How him and Erik start growing closer and more attached to one another, they really do complete each other. I was a little nervous about Reuben being made to fck other people besides the master cause I didn't want it to start being ok for Erik to take other lovers but luckily it was all about Reuben (Copper) being bred and Erik enjoying the view. Omg that fckin breeding scene was beyond amazing! The description and everything. It will stay with me for a while for sure. Reuben also gains a lot more confidence and starts understanding his role.

I recommend this book to anyone who loves pet play and kinky-ness. There wasn't as much violence in this one as there was in the first but at least a few where it was needed. The ending. Wtf man?! Book 3 can't get here fast enough. It's gna be way fckin good and interesting.

I love how this trilogy is mapped out. In the first book, Fear, you see Reuben get broken and rebuilt as Copper; the only emotional bond with Erik is accepted subservience. In this second book, Pride, you see their relationship blossom into full, enthusiastic consent and love. I'm very glad the authors give enough room for this transition to feel believable.

Again, the sex scenes were enjoyable. I liked how open Erik is to having other men "mount" Copper and how Reuben is into it as long as it pleases Erik. There is, however, this one scene where someone severely takes advantage of Reuben, but it's handled pretty well and we're given closure, so it doesn't ruin the rest of the fun in the book. And, boy, there's quite a lot of fun.

With less world-building to get adjusted to, and no zombies in the mix, this was a far easier read. I also enjoyed the bit of softness given to Erik's aggressive brother, even if he's still a jerk.

Yup, waiting on the third book, Love... a bit hesitant though because I expect we're entering supreme mushy romance territory, but, agh, want to see their story finish!

Odd, I can't decide if I actually enjoyed it or not. I will say the use of language and description to open up the world setting is fabulous.
I'm just not sure that pony play is really in my list of turn ons.

ETA: Me here in March 2017 commenting again regarding this series. I've reread it subsequently and have to say that my ratings have all gone up a star. The pony play element of this really does work and puppy play has become (in the last 12 months after much more reading of it) a particular favourite kink of mine now.

The bloody zombies though, you can still keep them!

The bond between Master and stallion continues and grows in this book with Reuben finding peace in his new life as Master Eric's pet. While Eric continues to show his sadistic streak, he is clearly more besotted with his Copper. I'm disappointed the final books not ready as I'd like to see how this pans out with the rival factions and Eric's brother Frey. My fingers are crossed for these two

So The Copper Horse: Fear had a few issues that I was hoping would be resolved in The Copper Horse: Pride, and friends, I'm happy to say it delivered!

While the plot still lacks a bit of direction it definitely picked up. I was never bored, especially since a lot of questions were answered and all the things I hoped would be adressed came up.
There was tons of character development for both Erik and Reuben and in their relationship. We learn quite a lot about Erik, not just his past but also what he does, the political situation of the setting and how his family is involved into that.

Despite that, some things bothered me. In my review of book 1 I mentioned how Erik and Reuben's reaction to each other were unpredictable. This book takes that a step further, but not in a good way. Especially the way Erik reacted seemed off and unfitting in two major instances, though in one of the I appreciated it (See Jack's Punishment, an accompanying short story.)

This series is best read in succession and none of the books work as standalones.

I had so much to say about this book, but then it just dissipated after I'd read the epilogue.
So this will probably be another one of my incoherent jumbles.

I'll start off by pointing out a few things that bugged me.
Pride took off immediately after Fear, the first novel in the trilogy.
But it confused me greatly, because the scene was somewhat different. I got very confused for a bit, trying to understand if it was a direct continuation or not, especially since Reuben has somehow suddenly accepted his pony-self wholeheartedly. But more on that later.
Another scene that bothered me was when Erik told Reuben about his first pony. Only, this wasn't the first time, Erik'd told him in the first book, but it was treated like new information.

Besides that, because I've read these books back to back, I noticed some tonal shifts. Like descriptions that shouldn't have been there. For example, Reuben referring his prostate as a "a bunch/knot of nerves (iirc)", while it was always his "sweet spot" beforehand, and also after that. I don't think he'd be very knowledgeable about his anatomy like that...

I really enjoyed the first book, Fear. Its buildup, the pace.
In Pride, things were sped up. Reuben's acceptance to being a horse didn't come as organically as I would have wished.
One day he was cracking jokes, the next his skull was filled with nothing but acting as a horse. Which came pretty naturally.
He got so maternal, too. xD

And Jack, too. Suddenly, he got all moody.

Nonetheless, I have to say that I loved this book.
It gave me less laughs, a bit too much tenderness at the end there, but it all felt well deserved.

I enjoyed getting a peek into Erik's mind, to that day with Chestnut.
And then, from there, you could see why he reacted the way he did to Reuben's disobedience. I don't think he wanted to go through it again, and yet he was conflicted about forcing someone to stay with him.
That's not what Erik wanted. Just like I predicted after reading the first book, all Erik wanted as love. And, well, all the pervy perks that came with that.

There were two punishments in that book. And both of them played out oh so well. I especially loved the aftermath of the second one, which brought them so close together.
I felt like what led to it was a bit forced, but goodness, was the payoff worth it. I enjoyed reading Erik like that, being a huge pervert myself.
I'll tell you though, that at first, I had to lay the book aside for a bit, because I got tired of all the violence. But got right back to it later. xD

And speaking of perversions...
I had to google those hooves. And by Pegasus, seeing them on a female form titillated me. I started thinking that having a woman wear these contorting hooves on her legs, with a pair of black velvety gloves and then fucking her brains out... That would be a cosplay party to remember.
And then I got into thinking, that having a human pony sounds really good.
I much more appreciate the female form, aesthetically speaking, and a non-air-head partner, but I can definitely see the appeal.

And while I did enjoy Reuben's acceptance, it kinda dumbed him down...
He really did become a horse.
I've read a review saying the humiliation was turned up a notch.
But I don't think so. Reuben did feel pride in becoming a prized stallion for his master. The things Erik made him do didn't humiliate Reuben/Copper any longer. He loved them. Relished at the attention and the experience. And most of all, Erik's attention.

The use of toys... Well, tail butt plugs... I couldn't get enough.
Not enough of that in my literary word.
Not to mention leather-clad fingering...

By the end though, when his "secret" of loving cocks came out...

It is no secret that I loved book one, Fear, in The Copper Horse trilogy. Book two, Pride, continues right where the first one ended. I had a hard time to decide what to write bout it in my review. I hate it when a review reveals too much on what happens in a book, so I want to focus on what thing really worked for me.

The AU historical setting was not as much in focus as it was in the first book, but it carried on the same tone and strage overall feeling of thread and luxury. Even if I'm not a fan of a historical setting, here it works perfectly. The combination of zombies, political unstability, appealing characters and a heavy dose of fetish elements keeps me hooked and panting for the last book in the trilogy. Pony play really is brought to a new level in my mind with The Copper Horse trilogy, it is erotic, exciting and strange and definitely not my own kink. However, I have begun to see that maybe my kink is reading about other people's kinks. Most of the sex is con, but there is a real non-con situation in the story that left me feeling so sad that I had to stop reading for a little while. Luckily I picked up with the story again. The issue I have with book series is that they often end in a major cliffhanger. That is the case with TCH:P. The cliffhanger in the end comes from the outside thread.

The protagonist is still Reauben (Copper). In my eyes he is a big and steady stallion with a heart of gold. In my reading he is also a bit slow, but not stupid. He is just starting to admit to himself he really is gay and loves to submit. Does that mean he really loves the man who made him his slave too? Reauben obviously loves the luxcure he now lives in. What keeps me curious about him is if he is willing to wear blinders against the poverty and the unfainess of life outside his master's house.

Erik the Bluefinger... Gosh I love everything about Erik. To me, he is the perfect monster/hero. We learn more about his tragic past, it makes me want to forgive him all the horrors he's done. Erik's past makes him damaged and vulnerable. It also makes him ruthless and dangerous. Yest we can see the tenderness in him and the need to feel loved. I so want to draw him! I already made some fanart about Copper after Book one. This time I think it is Erik's turn.

Rusty. Gosh I want Reauben and Erik to have a 'foal' of their own. Maybe Erik will give one to his pony.

This was definitely a five star read for me. It is very unique and beautiful compared to most BDSM stories out there, it made me feel so many conflicting feelings as I read on.

***

This book was given to me for an early review by the author duo. I absolutely adored The Copper Horse, the first book in the trilogy - it was one of the top ten reads for me last year. Can't wait to have another ride with Copper again! (I didn't just say that... Lol)

Look at the pretty cover <3

I'm reading this gem in smaller doses as I originally planned as Sterek accidentally took over my day off.

Review as soon as I finish :)

5 Stars!

First off…. My God, that cover is gorgeous.

Second off, lol…. There’s slavery in this, and it’s set in the Victorian age. There’s ponyplay, animalization, kink, organized crime, and violence.

Take pride in what you do is the theme of this, I think. The title says it all lol. And in book 2, that’s exactly what Copper (Reuben) does. He finally accepts the role Erik has given him. He wants to be the best pony he can be and he works for that.

But even with acceptance, there are bumps in the road. Maybe Copper hasn’t accepted his role as much as he thought. Humiliation can make even the best pony doubt himself. And Erik… well, he makes mistakes. But at least he’s showing he can learn from those screw-ups.

Then there is Erik’s family, and good God, what a bunch they are. Think modern day crime family, lol, and here you go. His nutcase of a brother, Frey, makes me crazy in how he treats both Erik and Copper. But then, I’ve question how stable Erik was anyhow. The Dal family is very influential in Bylondon, but as always, when you’re king of the hill, someone is just waiting to knock you down. So, stress is building in the family. Things are getting… intense. The whole damn book is intense, lol.

Oh! And don’t forget the zombies!

That enough action for ya, lol? OMG, there is plotting and planning within the family, then there’s Erik and Copper and their lifestyle, and yes, there are some tough places in the book. I loved that Erik finally came across as a bit more human in this book. Now I understand what drives him, and I was happy with the way the relationship between Copper and Erik grew. Copper had some hard decisions to make that really affect who he is.

And while we get our HFN, there's also something that left me screaming, lol. I’m going to be standing on my head for the next in the series! And driving the authors' crazy, lol. But look, this is one of my favorite series. I simply love Copper. Prance, pony, prance!

I just love these two, they're so much fun and I had a silly grin on my face throughout. Reuben has finally begun to relax and enjoy his role as Copper, he's trying his hardest to be the most well behaved and handsome pony he can possible be for Erik.

Erik is absolutely besotted with Copper and is very overindulgent with him, even allowing him the odd glass of wine. I love all the fun and games they have and couldn't stop giggling when Copper galloped away at the stables and Eric chased after him in the rain. 'Naughty boy Copper, you're such a rascal sometimes."

I loved this one, even better than the first book.

Maybe because Reuben is gaining so much more confidence as Copper. He feels valued by Erik and he thrives in his new found life.

As with any Merikan book, the setting is unusual and fantastic. So original and quirky with themes including pony-play, steam-punk, dystopian and zombie.

Copper's breeding with Coal was pretty damn hot.

I especially enjoyed Erik finally letting his guard down. I'm hopeful for a true romance in the final instalment.

Enthralling. Absorbing. Deliciously decadent.

Not your run of the mill BDSM romance, that's for sure. A dark alternate universe fantasy that incorporates pony play and an array of lush perversions in a thrillingly kinky story.

Not for the faint of heart.

Can't wait for the next story.
