There are no Gods in the trench.
Only monsters.

When the classified deep sea prototype USS Leviathan (X-241) vanishes near the Laurentian Abyss, the Navy scrambles for answers. Minutes later, the USS Seawolf (SSN-21) records a sonar contact that is colossal, biological, and accelerating. Then the ocean swallows it whole.

Team Odin deploys the new ORCA Platoon, a sixteen-operator unit drawn from the most lethal Naval Special Warfare teams on the planet. Their mission takes them into the abyss in DS-RAX Armor, advanced technology engineered by DARPA and the Skunkworks Division at Nidavellir for trench warfare, spectral anomalies, and zero visibility combat.

What they find below the thermocline defies science.
Reality bends.
Pressure destroys steel.
Something ancient begins to rise.

In the frozen dark of the North Atlantic, the truth behind Viking legends waits in the deep. A predator older than myth has awakened, and it intends to bring down the Gods themselves.

Team Odin knows one thing.
In the darkness, legends are born in blood and steel.
And the abyss never returns what it takes.

The mission is no longer about recovery.
It’s survival.

Because below the thermocline, no one is safe.

Is it possible to give negative stars?

I'll try to review this book without getting suspended again. Clark dies in the end. I don't care about spoiler warnings. This series has been an editing nightmare to read. The author has multiple series in the universe going on at the same time, with storylines bouncing from one series to the next. If you read each series in publication order, you'll be confused. If you read each novel in chronological order, you'll be bounced across a minimum of 5 different series with at least 5 books each. This book felt like a series finale but you only watched half the episodes. None of the emotional hits do anything. Clark fights a giant sea serpent and manages to defeat it by just wanted to beat it more than he did 30 seconds previously. An experimental dive suit with a theoretical crush depth of 2500 meters somehow survives to 7700 meters with no explanation or investigation. The final 20% or 15 minutes of the book are just appendicies listing each member of the wild hunt and the specs on a ship and the dice suits. Absolutely a waste of time reading all that. It was just put there to pad the novel. Now of the author had put in some sketches of how the things should look, then maybe it would be more interesting. Instead, you're subjected to hundreds of names and titles you'll never remember or care about. The author needs to take a writing class and learn what to do correctly before ever attempting to write another novel.

Good book but and some cool navy action

I enjoyed the navy action even if it’s a little ridiculous how the navy had so many advanced stuff all at the same time but needed the cryptoid team. The big lizard was cool but there were so many characters and each having a nickname that I was getting lost. The end just didnt hit me as hard as with all the characters. I know I read about it but I don’t even remember Amanda dying.

Just finished this, made me sad, but at least it corrected part of the storyline I really hated. You did well with this D.A. Roberts! I've read novels for almost 50 years and glad to know that sometimes people know when an appropriate time comes. Can't wait to see where you go now and still reading them all! Valhalla awaits us all!!

Is it really over

If this is the end of the Wild Hunt books, then I'm sad. I really loved all of the tales. This one was different being on the water and opened up the opportunity to bring back Team 6. Great wrap up if it really is the end.

Heart wrenching Wild Hunt book

Just lost my dad, career Air Force enlisted and officer. The end of the book brought tears to my eyes at the loss of one of D.A.'s most unique characters. Just keeps getting better and better.

How could you?

This was heart pounding and heartbreaking, all at once. I desperately hope this is not the end, but it really did go out with a bang.
