okay so… I was REALLY on the fence with this one. 😭 The premise was cute, the second chance romance had so much potential, and there were definitely moments where I was invested. But by the time I finished, I had way too many mixed feelings
Joely was honestly my biggest struggle. I have a lot of empathy for anxiety, and I appreciated that this book showed just how overwhelming it can be, especially with the agoraphobia. Some of what she experienced was genuinely heartbreaking, and I understood why certain things felt too much for her. BUT… it became so repetitive for me. I swear this girl was crying every single chapter 😭 and eventually I felt like I was stuck in the same emotional loop over and over again. I wanted more depth to her character outside of her anxiety because, for most of the book, it felt like that was her entire personality.
And then there was the coddling. OH MY GOSH. Everyone treated Joely like she was made of glass, especially her sister. i understand being patient and supportive, but there were moments where it felt like they were protecting her so much that she wasn’t really being given room to grow.I found myself getting frustrated because I wanted someone to believe in her ability to actually face things instead of constantly treating her like she couldn’t 🤦🏼♀️
Henry though? he was a bit better (a BIT). he was sweet, caring, and such a cheerleader for Joely. I loved the moments where he encouraged her, reminded her she was capable, and supported her through the harder moments. Their relationship had some genuinely cute scenes. BUT WHY was he being so sketchy about Lily??? 😭 My trust issues were screaming. i kept waiting for an explanation because the whole situation just felt… ICK.
and Sebastian and Joely’s dad? Immediate jail. -_- that's all i have to say about them. (how was her dad THAT evil?? a literal villain from a movie 😭)
also... random POV switches in the middle of chapters multiple times??? PLEASE STOP😭
Overall, I think this will work better for readers who specifically want a romance centered heavily around anxiety, healing, and second chances. I can appreciate what the author was trying to convey, but it just wasn’t something I personally enjoyed reading for such a large portion of the book. I wouldn’t reread it, but I can see why it would appeal to a certain crowd. 3 ⭐️, with the tiniest bump because that COVER is so pretty 😂

I enjoyed "Swayed" by Megs Muller at first. I liked the way it started with a cataloguing of the three kisses that defined Henry (MMC) and Joely's (FMC) relationship before they were separated for six years. That was super cute, and I thought it was going to set the stage for something really good! The longer it went on, however, the less I liked it. As someone with anxiety, I related to Joely's comments that she didn't want to be a burden on the people around her because of her anxieties. Still, something about this rubbed me the wrong way, and it was mostly Henry, honestly. The way he acted towards the end of the book, like Joely was crazy to be concerned about Lily, Henry's best friend, had my red flags waving high high high. It doesn't matter if anything was going on or not; the way he dismissed her concerns was like !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. And everyone treats her like she's five years old the entire book???????? I understand being empathetic and patient with her and towards her situation/feelings/sensitivities/anxieties, but it felt like the people around her were actively trying to prevent her from getting better at times. That might just be my read on the situation, though. There's a difference between patience and coddling to the point of infantilization. Not a lot of books discuss agoraphobia, so I thought that was an interesting thing about this book as well. I also found this book to be unevenly paced. It felt like the middle of the book dragged on and on, while the end of the book wrapped up so quickly it gave me whiplash! I will say, I did enjoy how horrible and nasty the dad was written... I truly, truly hated his guts, though he is wicked to the point of cartoonishness. There are several moments that I felt were written to be these big "OMG" moments, revelations of meddling, revelations of scandal, etc, but I figured out what they were pretty early on. Some of the scenes between Henry and Joley are cute, I will admit, but part of me always had the hairs on the back of my neck tingling about them... Maybe I will have to read this one again in the future to see if I feel differently, but as it stands, this is how I feel the first time around.

I had a good time with this one, even if I didn’t completely click with everything.
Henry and Joely’s second-chance romance had such a sweet foundation, and I loved seeing their history slowly turn into something new again. Henry was especially lovely when he was encouraging Joely through her anxiety, and their softer moments together really worked for me.
I also really appreciated the anxiety and agoraphobia representation. Joely’s struggles felt genuine, although I sometimes wished the people around her would give her more space to figure things out for herself instead of being quite so protective. Henry was a wonderful source of support, but his situation with Lily had me a little uneasy, and I would have liked some of those concerns to be handled differently.
The pacing was a little uneven, but I really enjoyed the sister dynamics, the family relationships, and watching Joely slowly find more confidence in herself.
There was plenty of sweetness here, and while it wasn’t a perfect read for me, I still found a lot to like and enjoyed the emotional journey.

i honestly don’t know if i liked this book or not. i have a lot of mixed feelings towards it. like i enjoyed it to a certain extent. i just feel like all the characters babied joley and didn’t let her be a grown adult? like i understand dealing with the agoraphobia and panic attacks and anxiety but the way her sister - marianne - made her seem almost toddler-ish irked me. the whole Lily plot through me because i literally COULD NEVER. her father pissed me off, sebastian pissed me off.
i feel like there were maybe 5 chapters she didn’t cry in? idk. i have so many mixed feelings.

This one’s for those who love a second chance, found family, found bromance, childhood love romance!
I can’t believe this is a debut by Megs Muller! It was such a cute read. This book was definitely heavy on anxiety representation and the FMC, Joely Whittaker, had debilitating agoraphobia.
I loved the short prologue of Joely and Henry’s childhood, explaining how he’s been in love with her since his mom was the Whittaker sister’s nanny.. how they end up as prom king and queen, engaged, to her then calling the engagement off when her father gets into an accident.
6 years later, Henry returns to Phoenix for a new job and runs into Joely outside their favorite restaurant while she’s trying to make a quick escape when she saw him inside with his supposed superstar girlfriend.. when he spots her, her nephew had thrown up on her. Talk about a reunion!!
Henry becomes friends with Joely’s brother in law after meeting him at a nursing home he’s volunteering for and they instantly have a bromance. He spends time with Adam and Marianne almost daily which is why Marianne comes up with a plan to show up to Flagstaff where Joely is hiding from society at their family cabin.
Henry is such a golden retriever/green flag MMC! He helps Joely through all her panic attacks and gives her different techniques to work through her anxiety. Eventually they start rekindling their love and Joely is starting to overcome her anxiety but also with a fear of becoming too dependent on him.. he goes above and beyond for her and is even willing to stop talking to his best friend because Joely feels uncomfortable around her
And obviously there has to a villain in the story, Franklin Whittaker, joely’s father, who will stop at nothing for his own success, even if it’s pawning off his youngest to his partners son, who mind you cheated on his oldest daughter when they were dating

So much heart in one story.
Anxiety ridden, lonely, and wishing so many things were different.
Joely wishes she could have just done things differently, that things could have been different.
Henry never really moved on, he knew Joely was it for him, he just didn't know how or when to make it happen.
This was an absolutely amazingly beautiful and absolutely point on story about love, anxiety, and self worth. How having someone by you that you can depend on, doesn't make you weak, it makes you precious. Ahh, if the book didn't make me sob, the author's note sure did.
This is my first book by Megs and I can't imagine jumping in any other way.
Also, the playlist is also pretty bangin :)

Okay this one was cute. Way cuter than I was prepared for honestly.
Joely is struggling. She’s trying to find herself and keep herself together. While going through som very very tough life choices of other people. She has a small group of people there to help her. She has tools to keep things going but she’s still struggling. She’s fine.
Henry is back in town. He’s there for a job and to be closer to his mom. Not for the love of his life that broke his heart years ago… until he sees her that is.
These two come back together and it’s truly a wonderful thing to see. Henry and Joely are so in love. Always have been. Life has forced decisions that may not have been the best but were with the information they had at the time. Now they are back in the same city but should they get back together.
These two build each other up in the best way. Henry is doing everything he can to understand and still build her up. Joely is trying to explain and shift the guilt. Henry is so supportive and understanding. Doing everything he can to make sure Joely is okay and living her life. Not just hiding. Joely is there to support Henry. She cooks and supports him in the quiet ways. Ways that we’re missing from his life before.
These two have to fight through some heavy things to get to their happily ever after. They wade through these things together. There is a third act issue or several but they never actually break up. They fight and then fight for each other and through the issues.
I really loved this one and am excited to see where the rest of the series goes.

Okay, Megs Muller, you had me with that opening. 🥹❤️
I loved the way Swayed begins by taking us through the three kisses that helped define Henry and Joely's relationship before everything fell apart. Childhood love, high school sweethearts, an engagement, and then one devastating decision that separates them for six years.
There was so much history between these two before we ever reached the present day, and I thought that was such a sweet way to establish just how deeply connected they'd once been.
Then Henry and Joely finally see each other again.
Henry is with a beautiful famous actress.
Joely is already trying to escape unnoticed.
And her three-year-old nephew throws up all over her.
Because apparently six years apart wasn't enough humiliation. 😂
Joely's life looks very different from the one she once imagined. Anxiety and agoraphobia have significantly limited her world, and after that unexpected reunion with Henry, she retreats to her family's cabin where she feels safe.
I appreciated that Megs Muller didn't shy away from how complicated anxiety can be. Joely worries about becoming a burden to the people she loves. She feels guilty when someone has to accommodate her. She wants independence while also recognizing there are times when she needs support. Those conflicting feelings gave her journey a vulnerability that felt genuine.
There were definitely moments when I related to Joely's fear of her anxiety becoming something the people around her had to carry.
Henry can be incredibly sweet with her too. ❤️
This man never really stopped loving Joely, and once she's back in his life, he is ALL IN. He learns how to support her through panic attacks, encourages her when she's struggling, and is perfectly content simply being near the woman he's loved for so long.
Their softer moments were some of my favorites.
I also liked that Henry isn't supposed to “fix” Joely. We slowly get to watch her start finding more confidence in herself and pushing against the boundaries anxiety has created around her life.
However, there were also times when the protectiveness surrounding Joely didn't completely work for me.
There's a difference between giving someone patience and support and making them feel as though everyone else needs to manage life for them. Occasionally, I wished Joely had been given more room to work through things herself rather than being quite so heavily protected by everyone around her.
And while I really liked Henry in many moments, I couldn't completely give him the shiny green-flag crown either. 👀
His friendship with Lily created some understandable concerns for Joely, and I wasn't always comfortable with the way he responded to those concerns. Whether Joely had anything to worry about wasn't really the issue for me. I would've liked Henry to listen to what she was feeling rather than making some of her concerns seem unreasonable.
Especially with a heroine already learning to trust herself again, that distinction mattered to me.
Then there is Joely's father.

This man made it incredibly easy to dislike him. As more pieces of Joely's past begin falling into place, we learn just how much outside manipulation affected choices she made when she was younger. It added another layer to the title Swayed and made me feel for the young woman who has spent years living with the consequences of decisions made under circumstances she didn't fully understand.
I did figure out several of the bigger revelations before they happened, so some moments that were clearly intended to be shocking didn't surprise me quite as much as I think they were supposed to.
The pacing was also a little uneven for me. Parts of the middle dragged, and then SO much happened toward the end that I felt like we'd suddenly hit fast-forward. 😂 I would've liked some of those later developments to have a little more room to breathe.
But there was still plenty I enjoyed.
The sister dynamics and family relationships added so much heart, Henry's unexpected bromance made me smile, and I loved that when Henry and Joely finally faced some major problems, we didn't get an unnecessary third-act breakup. After losing six years already, I didn't need these two voluntarily throwing away more time.
Ultimately, I think what stayed with me most wasn't simply Henry getting another chance with the woman he'd always loved.
It was Joely getting another chance with herself.
She's spent years carrying anxiety, guilt, other people's expectations, and the consequences of choices that weren't nearly as simple as she believed. Watching her slowly begin to reclaim pieces of her life gave this second-chance romance an emotional layer I really appreciated.
Swayed wasn't a perfect read for me, but it was a sweet and emotional debut with meaningful anxiety and agoraphobia representation, a couple with years of history, complicated family relationships, found family, and plenty of heart. I'm definitely curious to see where Megs Muller takes this series next. ❤️

Okay, Megs Muller, you had me with that opening. 🥹❤️
I loved the way Swayed begins by taking us through the three kisses that helped define Henry and Joely's relationship before everything fell apart. Childhood love, high school sweethearts, an engagement, and then one devastating decision that separates them for six years.
There was so much history between these two before we ever reached the present day, and I thought that was such a sweet way to establish just how deeply connected they'd once been.
Then Henry and Joely finally see each other again.
Henry is with a beautiful famous actress.
Joely is already trying to escape unnoticed.
And her three-year-old nephew throws up all over her.
Because apparently six years apart wasn't enough humiliation. 😂
Joely's life looks very different from the one she once imagined. Anxiety and agoraphobia have significantly limited her world, and after that unexpected reunion with Henry, she retreats to her family's cabin where she feels safe.
I appreciated that Megs Muller didn't shy away from how complicated anxiety can be. Joely worries about becoming a burden to the people she loves. She feels guilty when someone has to accommodate her. She wants independence while also recognizing there are times when she needs support. Those conflicting feelings gave her journey a vulnerability that felt genuine.
There were definitely moments when I related to Joely's fear of her anxiety becoming something the people around her had to carry.
Henry can be incredibly sweet with her too. ❤️
This man never really stopped loving Joely, and once she's back in his life, he is ALL IN. He learns how to support her through panic attacks, encourages her when she's struggling, and is perfectly content simply being near the woman he's loved for so long.
Their softer moments were some of my favorites.
I also liked that Henry isn't supposed to “fix” Joely. We slowly get to watch her start finding more confidence in herself and pushing against the boundaries anxiety has created around her life.
However, there were also times when the protectiveness surrounding Joely didn't completely work for me.
There's a difference between giving someone patience and support and making them feel as though everyone else needs to manage life for them. Occasionally, I wished Joely had been given more room to work through things herself rather than being quite so heavily protected by everyone around her.
And while I really liked Henry in many moments, I couldn't completely give him the shiny green-flag crown either. 👀
His friendship with Lily created some understandable concerns for Joely, and I wasn't always comfortable with the way he responded to those concerns. Whether Joely had anything to worry about wasn't really the issue for me. I would've liked Henry to listen to what she was feeling rather than making some of her concerns seem unreasonable.
Especially with a heroine already learning to trust herself again, that distinction mattered to me.
Then there is Joely's father.

This man made it incredibly easy to dislike him. As more pieces of Joely's past begin falling into place, we learn just how much outside manipulation affected choices she made when she was younger. It added another layer to the title Swayed and made me feel for the young woman who has spent years living with the consequences of decisions made under circumstances she didn't fully understand.
I did figure out several of the bigger revelations before they happened, so some moments that were clearly intended to be shocking didn't surprise me quite as much as I think they were supposed to.
The pacing was also a little uneven for me. Parts of the middle dragged, and then SO much happened toward the end that I felt like we'd suddenly hit fast-forward. 😂 I would've liked some of those later developments to have a little more room to breathe.
But there was still plenty I enjoyed.
The sister dynamics and family relationships added so much heart, Henry's unexpected bromance made me smile, and I loved that when Henry and Joely finally faced some major problems, we didn't get an unnecessary third-act breakup. After losing six years already, I didn't need these two voluntarily throwing away more time.
Ultimately, I think what stayed with me most wasn't simply Henry getting another chance with the woman he'd always loved.
It was Joely getting another chance with herself.
She's spent years carrying anxiety, guilt, other people's expectations, and the consequences of choices that weren't nearly as simple as she believed. Watching her slowly begin to reclaim pieces of her life gave this second-chance romance an emotional layer I really appreciated.
Swayed wasn't a perfect read for me, but it was a sweet and emotional debut with meaningful anxiety and agoraphobia representation, a couple with years of history, complicated family relationships, found family, and plenty of heart. I'm definitely curious to see where Megs Muller takes this series next. ❤️

This story follows Henry and Joely, high school sweethearts who ended their relationship when they were 18, after Joely’s father was in an accident and she needed to focus on helping him through his recovery. 6.5years later. Joely comes face to face with Henry again, while she’s with her nephews. When they see each other, she runs, riddled with guilt and shame over how their relationship ended. She takes off to their family cabin to gather herself for a month. Meanwhile, Henry accidentally befriends Joely’s broth-in-law, who helps him to go and see Joely at the cabin. Upon seeing each other, they hash out their past and move forward as friends. From here Henry and Joely work to rebuild their relationship, with the added layer of conquering Joely’s agoraphobia and anxiety disorder.
Joely was at her core a very resilient young lady who was dealt a terrible hand. Her father’s manipulation of her was terrible and honestly was to blame for the state of her poor mental health. He meddled with her life in ways she had no idea about and in the end it did nothing but hurt her. Despite all of this, she continued to try and be there for the people in her life, within her capabilities. I her anxiety and agoraphobia made her feel less than and like a burden to those around her, when truly it was kind of a trauma response to how she was raised.
Henry was so patient and just a generally kindhearted person. He was so good at meeting Joely where she needed him to be, always there a steady presence. The man was a walking green flag, he was just content to be in Joely’s company after so many years. There was one thing he kept to himself that kind of caused a massive miscommunication to happen that was a little annoying, when it could have been avoided.
This story was unlike any I had read. Megs Muller did not shy away from the messy details of mental health and how this can really alter a person’s ability to function. The relationship that the main characters built throughout the book was nice to read, I really did like how Henry was very accommodating to Joely and her needs with her mental health. He was truly happy to be beside her and help her however he could. So much happened in the last 50 or so pages, it was action packed with things happening on all fronts. Overall I really enjoyed the story!

I genuinely don't know how I feel about this one, and I think that uncertainty is itself the review. I kept turning pages, which is usually a good sign, but the whole time I was turning them I was also asking myself when the story was going to pick up. That's a strange place to be. Not bored enough to put it down, not hooked enough to stop noticing the drag.
Let me start with what I actually appreciated. Anxiety representation in novels matters to me, and I think there's real value in showing how consuming and debilitating it can be. I get that. I empathized with Joely's situation and the circumstances that led her to the choices she made in the past. Here's where the book lost me a bit: having anxiety doesn't excuse hurting other people, and I wanted someone, anyone in this story, to acknowledge that. She ended things with Henry with no explanation and then seemed to expect him to wait for her and not move on like that was a reasonable thing to ask of someone. And throughout the whole book, the people around her just... coddled her. Her sister especially. Everyone treated her like she was made of glass, and I actually think that's the opposite of helpful for her. The people around Joely weren't supporting her so much as they were standing in the way of her being able to manage her anxiety. What I think most overlooked was that in this scenario, Henry also suffered. His story mattered too.
The other thing that irked me a bit was the crying. Almost every chapter she is crying because of something. I was understanding about it at first because grief and anxiety are real and messy and sometimes you can't control what you feel, but by a certain point I felt stuck in the same emotional loop on repeat. I needed more from Joely as a character aside from her having anxiety and a bit of a heavy family life. It ended up feeling like her entire personality, and that's not fair to her.
This wasn't a bad book. It wasn't the best either. It sits somewhere in that frustrating middle where I can see what it was trying to do and I respect the attempt, but the execution left me more irritated than swooning by the end.

Swayed is the first book in The Mended Series, and it is also the first book I've read where I just wasn't a huge fan of the MMC.
From the beginning, something about Henry didn't sit right with me, and that feeling only grew as the story progressed. I felt like he gave up too quickly when Joely ended their engagement, and then he became too closed off whenever Lily or his relationship with her came up. It constantly felt like he was hiding something, and that was a major red flag for me. This was the biggest reason for my 3-star rating.
Even though Henry wasn't my favorite, I did appreciate how much of a cheerleader and support system he was for Joely when she was dealing with her panic attacks. He encouraged her and helped her build confidence in herself and reminded her that she was capable of doing hard things. I really enjoyed seeing that side of their relationship.
One of my favorite parts of the book was Joely's relationship with her sisters, Ellie and Marianne. Marianne may be the middle sister, but she really took on more of a maternal role with Joely and became one of her biggest sources of support during the six years she and Henry were separated. I loved seeing that bond between them.
Ellie, the older sister, is much more closed off, and you can tell she has been hurt in the past. Her story definitely caught my attention, and I would love to see more of her in a future book. I am especially hoping she gets her own happily ever after because I feel like there is so much more to her story.
One thing to be aware of before picking this one up is that the book deals heavily with anxiety and panic attacks, so I would recommend checking the content or trigger warnings if those are sensitive topics for you.
Overall, Swayed was a 3-star read for me. While Henry wasn't the MMC for me, I enjoyed Joely's relationships with her sisters and appreciated the way the story handled her anxiety and her journey toward becoming more confident in herself.

Joely starts off struggling. She's trying to find herself while keeping everything else in her life together, which is easier said than done. Joely has to deal with some tough choices that come from others so the control aspect is a slippery slope. She has a small circle of people there to help her (relatable) because I'm the same way. I'd rather have a few close friends that I know will be there for me always than 100 acquaintances. Joely has the tools she needs to push through but she still struggles from time to time
Henry West is now back in town (he and Joely were inseparable up until six years ago). He's there for a job and to be closer to his mom, not the love of his life who just so happen to break his heart. This all changes once he sees her again
The way these two come back together is a very cool thing to see. Henry and Joely have always been in love with each other. Life got in the way though and they made decisions based off information at the time that wasn't the best. After six years apart they are two different people back in the same city again with a looming question of Should they et back together?
These two are each other's biggest cheerleader. Henry does everything in his power to build Joely up while understanding her needs at the same time. Joely is trying to explain and shift the guilt, easier said that done y'all. The way Henry supports Joely is just something wonderful to witness. He does everything in his power to make sure she is living her life to where she can thrive. Joely is also supportive of Henry, she shows up in ways that make it known that she cares for him the way he does for her. They were each other's missing puzzle piece and this book is so evident of that
Henry and Joely have to fight through some heavy things to get their happily ever after but if you ask them it was all worth it because they end up together and that's all that matters. They wade these obstacles with one another by their sides and in their corners. Heads Up: There is a third act issue but not a break up, they fight but they fight for each other and work through the issues at hand
This was a great start to a series that I'm excited to see where it goes from here. Book One... I enjoyed you! Swayed is a cute read y'all :)

Henry and Joely cross paths 6 years after their engagement ended and Henry makes it his mission to get back into her life. Having broken off their engagement because she felt that is what was best to be able to take care of her father, Joley never got over loosing Henry, but she believes he has moved on with someone else. Once Henry convinces Joely to give him a chance at being friends the two are nearly inseparable and the love they still have for each other is undeniable.
Joley suffers from agoraphobia and anxiety and Henry is there for her every step of the way and knows just want to do to help her but also let her lead the way in every situation. Henry is able to give Joley the confidence she needs to stand up for herself just by being present and is exactly the man she needs in her life...Even if I might have wanted to yell at him a time or two for his decisions!
Swayed was filled with heartache, yearning, and emotion, but at the same time was a feel good romance with a HEA and no 3rd act breakup.

I will say I was a little skeptical about this book at first. I was afraid of the whole second-chance romance with another person involved, but it turned out to be nothing like what I expected, and I am so glad about that!
Our heroine, Joely, had her life almost completely figured out when she was eighteen. She had the perfect fiancé, her dream school was waiting for her, and even with her agoraphobia, she was making everything work. Until her father had an accident that changed everything.
What once felt certain was suddenly gone. She let go of everything she loved so she could take care of her dad, even if it meant putting herself aside.
Henry was first the nanny’s son, then he became Joely’s best friend, and eventually, her boyfriend and the love of her life. For him, there was never another woman besides Joely. He was crushed when she broke up with him, but life had to move on.
Except that six years later, he moves back home, and on his very first day back, there she is. The woman of his dreams.
Joely and Henry were the cutest! Henry understood that she needed time to do things at her own pace, but he also encouraged her to step outside her comfort zone. Joely was willing to take chances for him, while Henry gave her the strength and support she needed. He was patient with her, but he also knew exactly what he wanted: to have her in his life for good.
I loved the bromance between Henry and Adam. I loved how amazing Marianne was as a sister to Joely, and most of all, I loved how naturally Henry and Joely fit together.

This sweet second chance romance was an emotional roller coaster ride but it was all worth it to get to that HEA!

This was such a beautiful and emotional second-chance romance that packs the emotiona I punch.
FMC (Joely's) journey with anxiety and agoraphobia felt incredibly heartfelt, and I appreciated how much care was taken with her healing process. Her struggles never felt like they were there just to move the plot along. They were an important part of who she was, and watching her slowly reclaim her life was inspiring.
MMC (Henry) was everything I want in a flawed MMC. A total golden retriever MMC who falls first, never stops loving her, and creates the emotional safety Joely desperately needs ( although I didnt agree with all his actions) . The MMC's patience, unwavering support, and "it's always been you" energy had me melting from beginning to end. He truly proved that love can be gentle, understanding, and steadfast.
The second-chance romance was packed with longing, unresolved feelings, and years of heartbreak that made every reunion moment feel earned. The found family elements added so much warmth, and the dual POV gave great insight into both MC's (Joely and Henry's) emotions. Really enjoyed it!

I enjoyed this story very much. I felt drawn into it early on. The characters surprised me when they made me laugh then brought tears to my eyes again and again.
This is the first book I’ve read that switches between characters’ point of view, all in first person. So we see how one character doesn’t know what’s going on with another character, and it leads to some exciting and interesting reveals.
The writing is delightful. Great dialogue. There are charming characters who show they care about others, and plenty of touching moments.
It contains nice ending hooks with little mysteries and secrets here and there.
If you like intrigue, there’s a little of that, too.
There is plenty of conflict to be resolved and clear motives that lead to an engaging crisis, climax and resolution, all important elements for every good story.
It also contains some interesting foreshadowing that left me wanting more.
Nice character arc. Believable characters. Clear stakes with dire consequences. Life altering choices to be made. A story with strong mentor/hero elements. Well written conflict scenes, and great descriptions throughout.

This book was cute. I liked Henry’s character because he took the time to really care for Joely and helped her with her anxiety, whilst still giving her room to grow and spread her own wings. He was patient, kind and supportive and truly loved and cared for her. Granted he did make a mistake, but he eventually owned up to it and facilitated open and honest communication between himself and Joely to come to a resolution that served them both. Initially I was annoyed with Joely’s character because she felt very hollow and underdeveloped. It felt like her entire personality was her anxiety. However I came to understand the author was trying to convey how debilitating her anxiety was and how much it had impacted her daily life. It was a reflection of the very real struggles that people with anxiety deal with and the challenges they face doing tasks that may feel small to other people. I did like Joely’s sisters a lot because they reflected the two kinds of support systems that anxious people may have and how important it is to have balance. Overall the plot was good, but I personally was not a big fan of the writing style. Some of it felt very repetitive, and sometimes I was left wondering if I had a missed a complete thought/event. Megs Muller, I hope your days are filled with love and light. Finally!! I have finally found a book that has me hooked in the beginning and I NEED to continue reading. This feeling has eluded me for a while now so I feel like I’ve won the jackpot.
I’ve now finished the book and it’s a solid 4 stars. I remained invested in the story, and had a good time. Joely was a little annoying at first, because she seemed so juvenile with her reactions, and having to collect braves. However I’ve never had anxiety so for all I know the depiction was dead on. I did like that the author didn’t use it as a talking point; it was something that Joely struggled with throughout the book. Seeing her grow stronger, even in baby steps was so satisfying. I loved that Marianne and Henry were both patient and supportive with her.
Henry was almost too perfect. As Joely notes herself, he is the greenest of green flags. However the love between he and Joely felt genuine too me, and the fact that he had loved her for so long made it feel more magical.
Overall, this book was a positive start to the series for me. It’s left me wanting to know more about certain characters, the enigmatic Ellie most of all.

I was kindly given an ARC of Swayed and this was good! Henry and Joely’s story was special and so sweet to read. I loved how they found their way back to each other and it was always them for each other, they had such a special bond and love. Joely is a sweetheart, she was so relatable with her anxiety and I just wanted to give her a hug, she deserves the world and is such a strong character. Henry is such a sweet guy, he is so caring and considerate and a genuine guy. Henry was so supportive to Joely and was there for her even after they spent years away from each other and I loved seeing it. they were so comfortable with each other like no time had passed, and their story was beautiful to see. they both cared for each other and supported one another. I loved Marianne and Adam and their relationships with Joely and Henry, they’re so understanding and it was so wholesome to see them all care for Joely so much, and Henry and Adam were so funny. it was a good read! Eh, I wanted to like this one but it just..... wasn't for me. I was excited for the anxiety representation, but I'm not sure I vibed with how all of it was portrayed I guess. I liked it at first, but after a bit it just seemed like it was Joelys entire personality, everyone absolutely coddled her and it made me mad lol. Also it seemed very much like the only concern at the beginning was her side of the story, and not how Henry was also affected by what had happened 6yrs ago. Speaking of, I wasn't sure how to feel about Henry either. The whole thing with Lily at the end was like.. bruh you just went through a whoooole second chance with the supposed love of your life and helping her with her anxiety, you're finally back together but then when she comes in with worry about some other girl it's made to seem like it's completely unreasonable? It's not like you've been in a solid relationship for multiple years, y'all just got back on your feet lol. Idk, I just felt *very* meh about everything, I finished it but I wasn't really invested in any of it. Swayed had such a strong start for me, and I was immediately invested in Joely and Henry’s second-chance story. Henry is truly the goldenest of golden retriever MMCs. The way he loves Joely, supports her, and wants to be the person she feels safe with was easily one of my favorite parts of the book. I’m always a sucker for an “it’s always been you” romance, and Henry absolutely delivers on that.
I also really appreciated Joely’s journey and the anxiety/agoraphobia representation. There were some genuinely emotional moments surrounding her struggles and learning to move forward while still allowing herself to lean on the people who love her.
As the story went on, though, it started to lose some of the momentum it had for me in the beginning. I found myself becoming a little less invested toward the end, and I wanted that same pull I felt when I first started reading to carry throughout the entire book.
Overall, I still enjoyed Swayed! The second chance romance, found family, and an incredibly devoted green flag MMC gave me plenty to love especially Henry.

This is one of the sweetest second chance romances I have ever read. It definitely had me feeling so many emotions!
The way Henry supports Joely is nothing short of amazing. He is truly a golden retriever mmc. These 2 characters could not be more meant to be. Swayed by Megs Muller is a heartfelt and engaging start to The Mended Series. I really enjoyed the emotional depth of the story and the way the characters felt realistic, imperfect, and easy to connect with. The romance kept me interested, while the themes of healing, trust, and personal growth added more substance than just a typical love story. Muller did a great job creating chemistry between the characters and kept the story moving without losing the emotional moments. I especially appreciated that the characters have their own struggles and growth rather than everything being resolved instantly. As the first book in the series, it definitely left me curious about the rest of The Mended Series. Overall, Swayed was an enjoyable read with romance, emotion, and characters that make you want to see what happens next.
