Smart, pretty, college student Alexa just lost her best friend. Confident, cocky, dangerous MMA fighter Ian just lost his sister. Their two worlds collide out of grief and the result is an explosion of emotions that flare up and threaten to consume them both. What happens when the secrets begin to start coming out? Who will end up getting burned?
I really should've known that this was going to suck green eggs and ham considering the story is about a MMA fighter... Yet, the cover is a guy that looks like he hasn't seen a meal in a month and would have to Google "muscle."
Inundated With Useless Info
• Wth do I need to know the particulars of her wake up habits, every detail of your wardrobe for the day and exactly how you put it on, details about your Soc professors and all his quirks, etc... None of this shit had anything to do with her discovering her friend died! It's mundane fluff!
• Wth do I need to know every exercise he is doing, how he's doing it, why he's doing it, how many he is doing of each, etc.. Again, he's getting phone calls about his sister dying; so, why multiple pages describing every facet of the exercise he is doing at the time? Mundane fluff!
• He calls all his family to tell them about his sister having died, and these calls take an entire chapter... I kid you not! The worst part is that It didn't add a single element to the story, plot, or character development. It was multiple phone calls with - hi...Ian... Yes, it's me.. What's wrong, buddy...(inner dialogue of 'shit I hate this')... Emma is dead...oh no I'm sorry!
^ my time is precious to me. Tell me a story, including all the details I NEED along the way, but don't waste my time trying to turn 5 pages of actual story into a 71-page serial installment.
Repetitive, Repetitive, I say Repetitive!
How many times did she have to alert us that she had been sick and didn't go out with her friend? How many times did she have to tell us his comments at the wake weren't said with any malice?" How many times did we have to be told "he didn't cry?" How many times do we need to be told the dead chick's family looked sad? How many times is someone going to say "I'm sorry" and "how are you."
This is one of those authors that think the way to give a scene or character' behavior importance and gravity is to TELL the reader & to do so multiple times.
Dialogue Sounds Like A Robotic 12-Year-Old vs 20-something's & Parents
Self explanatory~
BFF My Ass
You know that look you give the guy that claims to have shot big foot, but claims the tricky bastard must have magic healing powers and a clean up crew of gorillas training him?
Yeah, good... That's my face every time the female MC says Emma was her best friend since childhood.
Her BFF died and the first contact she had with the parents was a brief two line convo at the wake? Oookay!!? No phone call after she finds out! Goes home and doesn't immediately go to see how she can help or offer condolences! Watches them at funeral and at grave site without saying a word. Then finally has a two line convo at the wake with the parents?!? That shit makes no sense!
Emma's brother is only a couple years older and didn't move away after moving out of his parent's house. She's supposed to be BFF with the girl but has only seen the brother a handful of times. Wtf?!?
Bottom Line
Need I really say this was horrible and I won't be continuing?!?
I've gotta put it out there, I hate this cover! There's no way that guy looks like he'd have the bulging veins described, or stand a chance in a fighting ring! Onto the story - wasn't expecting the need for tissues to be so great during the first chapters. Reading about someone's grief always gets me, and there were so many parts in this that hit a little close to home for me. I liked Alexa and Ian. The attraction was believable, the chemistry evident and the action...hot! Can't wait to get my hands on the next instalment.
Hoo... It was so sad, i cried. But i hoped you will talk a little before jumping to bed. I mean there are problems in front of you. You need to know who you are sleeping with before looking at their phone or you are going to collapse.... See! Didn't i told you?

Loved it. Got me from the beginning. Alexa best friend was killed in a car accident. Alexa's was feeling guilty because she was suppose to be with her. Heading home to the funeral she sees Emma's family and can't get over her death. She talks to Emma's brother Ian and starting to feel alive again.. Ian is a MMA fighter and came back home to take of his parents after his sisters death. The only person he can talk to was Alexa. Can't wait for book 2.
Another great book by Alycia Taylor! A quick short read that starts off kinda sad but I cant wait to see what happens next! The characters are great. The storyline has a great flow to it and i cant wait to see how it develops.
After the death of Emma, her best friend, Alexa withdraws from school for a semester and tries to get it together. But spending time with Emma's mourning family opens her eyes to Emma's brother Ian. Their intimacy goes at lightening speed.
Дурацкая завязка у романа. Можно практически перелистать 90% рассказа и просто открыть на моменте когда между героями будет ого-го какая горячая сцена. Больше так ничего интересного, одни сопли.
The cover looks awful, the guy looks like a nerd. If he's supposed to be an mma fighter why not find a picture of a guy with a little muscle and some sex appeal?
