The Grandfather : A book based on the characters of Pride and Prejudice
Elizabeth Bennet feels increasingly overwhelmed and, at times, quite alone. She longs to support Jane and guide her younger sisters, yet finds herself in a household where such responsibility does not properly belong to her. Her parents, though not without affection, seem unable to take firm direction of their own lives, and offer little guidance to their daughters.
As a result, Elizabeth must rely on her own judgement, balancing duty, concern, and independence as best she can. She strives to protect those she loves while quietly questioning what her own future may hold in a family so uncertain in its course.
Yet, just when her solitude feels most pressing, an unexpected presence enters her life—one that offers her not only understanding, but the possibility of a second chance at happiness.

Well well well, wasn't this awesome?!
Yes yes it was.
While there were some minor misspellings and error in all this is a very very good read!
Never skipped a part, no boring monologs.
I recommend to the author some beta readers and maybe an editor.
I enjoyed it greatly!

Wonderful
Mr and Mrs Bennett were each married before and lost their spouse, and remarried to each other to provide their Jane and Elizabeth with a family. Mr Bennett refuses to make contact with any extended family. When Elizabeth is twenty she secretly approaches uncle Gardiner, and soon finds and meets her grandfather, who is an admiral and a baronet, and is ecstatic to finally meet his granddaughter. Elizabeth's success gives Jane the courage she needs to find her dead birth father's family, and she meets General Benton and his wife, who are also ecstatic to unite with their niece. These reunions give each Bennett sister very good connections and fortunes, leading to advantageous London society.
This is such an interesting premise, and there are so many wonderful characters that we can care about. The usual villains appear, but they don't stand a chance against such stellar connections and relations that are so devoted to the interests of Jane and Elizabeth. Consequently, there are a lot of spectacular comeuppances. One reservation was the development of the relationship of Elizabeth and Darcy. It never quite reached that feeling of inevitability. The other reservation was the editing. At times the tenses used in sentences are wrong, and there's no separation between paragraphs and scenes. However, I recommend the book for a heartwarming and poignant story.

An Unexpected storyline, with a strong secondary character storyline, at times overshadowing the main characters of Darcy and Elizabeth. It was a bit hard to read since in the formatting in KU version there were no paragraph breaks -- so every sentence/paragraph ran into the next without any white space to delineate where one character's voice ended and another began. There were also a certain number of typos that should have easily been caught by a final read pass. I feel after the initial setup, the storyline jumped to Rosings without the reader getting to experience the D&E relationship -- it was alluded to, but it took place off page so there was no satisfaction of experiencing the D&E build up of their relationship. Conversely, more pages were spent on Jane's relationship, and Anne deBourgh's relationship which as secondary characters were not as important to me as a reader who wants the D&E relationship front and center instead of a summary that was never developed on the page. I personally know the original story, but for someone new to reading P&P variations, it's like what? Where are Darcy and Elizabeth's love story? Anyway, enjoyable read.

This was a book focusing more on Lizzy's relationship with her lost family that it is about her and Darcy. I quite liked that part actually. Darcy was a tad too insufferable and proud in this version for my tastes but the author did show a more caring side of him while with Georgiana which made his rehabilitation believable at the end. Seeing Jane grow up and find herself and her courage was well done and the tiny conflict at the end was used well as a catalyst for the Bennets, Bentons and Watsons to bury the hatchet. Pretty satisfying read.

I have read many P&P fan fiction variations, and I usually enjoy the ones featuring all or some of the Bennets learning about their exalted ancestry. This one was one of the best. Well-written, great new characters, and a wonderful story. I hated to see the story end because it was so enjoyable to read.

The Grandfather
Delightful story. A father whose wife has died, and a mother whose husband has died, each with a young daughter. Not for love, but for the convenience and sake of their children, they marry. Both Jane and Elizabeth knew that one or the other was not their biological father or mother, and as they aged wanted to know more about their other family. Mr. Bennet was dead set against them knowing any thing about their other families. Mrs. Bennet had loved her first husband and tried to change his mind. Mr. Bennet seemingly forgot about his daughter, Elizabeth. She’s determined to meet her mother’s family. And she does meet her Grandfather, Admiral Arthur Watson, highly decorated Naval officer. When Jane sees how happy her sister is, she makes the decision to find her father’s family. Getting help from Captain Anthony Miller, a friend of Elizabeth’s grandfather, Jane goes to meet her father’s brother, General John Benton and his wife. Jane finds her happiness with her newly discovered family. Now they need to confront the father who raised them, Mr. Bennet, to relax his stance before they choose with whom they will live. While in London, Elizabeth meets Georgiana Darcy and they become friends. Darcy is his usual pompous self and whenever he meets Elizabeth her still shows his disdain. It takes quite a while before he digs himself out of the hole he’s dug. Has his Hunsford moment and his reflection on his refusal. To save Anne from living under her mother’s harsh commands, Colonel Fitzwilliam marries Anne de Bourgh right under her mother’s nose after Darcy finally tells her he will never marry her. Caroline Bingley finally makes her last nasty comment at the ball held for the Colonel and Anne’s wedding. George Wickham’s finally makes his last mistake at Brighton before trying to run away with Lydia Bennet. Darcy finally redeemed himself, and there’s a HEA for ODC. More than happy, because her grandfather has come to live with them at Pemberley doting on his great-grandchildren. Good read.

Good story
I like the new and different ways this story is able to bring in elements of the original without being a regurgitation of the original. But I still wish the story were better edited. Verb tense jumps around as if this were a play with stage directions. I imagine the author seeing it unfurl in her head as she writes. Her imagination is very good and the run-on sentences of her early work have largely disappeared. I have to say that the Darcy at the beginning of the story was so nasty, I really hoped Elizabeth would find someone else! Caroline's upbraiding was good. The Wickham solution is one of my favourites. I'm torn about the Bingley situation. I really like that Bingley took charge of his own life early on and am still trying to reconcile myself to Jane's choice. Another big issue I have is that Mrs. Bennet comes to that marriage with a house of her own, so she need not fear the entail. I think this is even stated early on and her reason for nervousness is more related to the girls lives, but it never made any sense. Then it seems to be forgot and all is well when relationships make another estate available. I don't remember which child is set to inherit that estate. I hope it was not the eldest Darcy, since that would make no sense.

Great Grandfather!
This vagary is mostly wonderful. The storyline tells of a man who finally returns to the land of his birth after securing a fortune that he wants to leave to his only family, twenty year old Elizabeth Bennet. His daughter, her mother, had died giving her life and he had stayed distant, emotionally as well as physically, to avoid the grief of losing another beloved person. This story is how he changed his goals to make connections and how his desire to protect his granddaughter brought happiness, security, and love to all the Bennets.
I do take away one star for several pages that seemed more like notes than edited writing. It distracted me as I tried to read it as it should have been, but then the editing returned and I went on. Very interesting. You'll lose sleep striving to finish it!

A very good book. Mr. and Mrs. Bennet were both widowed with a small child when they married. When Jane is 22, both she and Elizabeth are reunited with their other parent's family. These new characters play a prominent role and bring profound changes to the girls' lives. How do Mr. and Mrs. Bennet react to these new families? What will it take to unite the Bennets and the new characters into one happy family?

I listened to the version on audible with virtual voice. I can't tell if the terrible narration was due to that or to the frequent issues with grammar. Text switched from 1st to 3rd person in the middle of paragraphs, the wrong pronouns were used, tense switched from past to present and back again mid paragraph.
The plot was interesting, so I struggled through. But what an unpleasant listening experience.

Interesting Premise
This is generally an enjoyable, light read but it loses points for me when the author has their fortune and even lives moved to the West Indies during this period in history. Imagine Lydia, having been influenced by her mother, as a slave owner! That specter greatly reduced my ability to enjoy this read. There's no such thing as a benevolent owner of other human beings.

the Admiral
So very good. Two widowed with young children decide to marry for support of each other. But the families of their lost loved ones begin to take notice of the time passed and missed opportunities. Deciding they want to get to know Elizabeth and Jane… these new paths create more opportunities for Jane and Elizabeth…

Outstanding!!!!!
I cried buckets reading this book! I loved it so much that I read it twice before a gave it up. Admiral Watson, the best grandfather ever, and Mr Bennet isn't worthy to be called father...I just didn't like him at all! Jane and Elizabeth stands out out in this book.
I highly recommend ...

Enjoyed
I really liked this book. The storyline was excellent, but there were some mistakes made in grammar. I do recommend it and have read most of this author's books. Hopefully she will continue writing more.

Delightful read with HEAs for near everyone!
This story is well written with an interesting twist to our beloved story. Happy Ever Afters abound for everyone except our true villain and reformations for others. Truly an entertaining read.

Charming story; needs editing
This could easily be a 4 star read if the author engaged the services of a reliable editor. The premise and character development are well thought out, but the execution falls short and diminishes any enjoyment of the story.

Good story, very poorly edited
This is a great story encompassing all the characters we know. The lack of editing is distracting. I hope there will be a new corrected version one of these days.

I loved this book! I liked how both Jane and lizzy were reunited with older family members that loved them. I also enjoyed that Anne got to be free from her mother and have a loving marriage. I look forward to more by this author.

Great story
Great story, well developed characters. But way too many typos & placement mistakes. Very disconcerting. A little more attention & perhaps human editing would be better.

Pompous Mr. Darcy
This is a great story. It is intriguing and very well written. The characters have a good twist that keeps you entertained. There is nothing that I did not like about this story.

Enjoyable story That needs some editing
I enjoyed reading the story but found places where I needed to report errors. I think I missed a number of them! Some portions Of the Text Seemed like they were written for stage direction versus flowing as a novel, th up the 4* rating.

lovely
A rather angsty and lovely little variation inspired by Jane Austen’s classic novel Pride and Prejudice by Miranda Flan. I liked it.

Incredible journey of character development, interesting characters, authentic love stories. Save only a rushed ending for Elizabeth and Darcy.

This is an interesting take in the Jane Austen fan fiction genre. Sadly it is let down by poor editing.
