Memory's Lament exceeded my expectations! I thought the original was a good but rather by the numbers romantasy, but its sequel blew me away! I had no idea where the series was going to go after the shocking ending of the first but I was more than pleasantly surprised!
Just to talk about what happens in this book is a massive spoiler so I have to force myself to keep it contained. No seriously, I can't talk about the plot, its impossible without ruining the first book.
However, as a big fan of Elizabeth I was pretty excited to see her in the main character roll of the second book and her interactions with Eric are very endearing. She's like the mom he's always needed but either never had or forgot.
I have to say, every new reveal with Eric was crushing! What can I say other than, my poor sweet baby! He might be 200 years older than me but I want to mom him so hard. I'm with Elizabeth, he needs some serious hand holding for all the torture he willingly puts himself through.
Another non spoilery thing I did enjoy was how healing magic was portrayed. Love it. I like it when the author goes super in depth when it comes to how magic works exactly.
Anyway, I'm ready, I NEED to know who was who in their past life and all that jazz. I'm a sucker for reincarnation drama.

If I haaave to nitpick, we need another word besides gray to describe a dark and dreary atmosphere. Everything is gray and I promise we don't have to be reminded that something is still gray when we return to the same scene without any notable changes. Most of the descriptions of places and people are great! Just that ooooone area can get pretty repetitive with how gray and misty it is.

Had to give it a five regardless because it's better than the first!

Jennifer delivers again with an increasingly complex yet easy to follow story line told from multiple povs. The stakes are higher the connections deeper and I love this modern fantasy full of unique vampires and godly powers! I already cannot wait for book 3 ❤️
