I'm not looking for love. I'm looking for a statistically optimal outcome.
I'm the woman who rates everything—like the abstract art that's either a sunset or a medical diagram—because if I can assign a number, I can keep it at arm's length.
So I walk into an alien matchmaking facility with a forty-six-question interview and a color-coded evaluation matrix. I'm not expecting a seven-foot, wild-haired, green hurricane of an orc to wedge through the doorframe mid-sentence and then go completely still the moment he catches my scent.
Brokk speaks in battle epics and motivational posters, delivered with equal sincerity. He can't answer a single question without a tangent or a boar story, and he plates food like a natural disaster. Underneath all that noise is a warrior who's spent his whole life being told he's too much.
I came here because the math made sense. I stayed because the math stopped mattering—and the man underneath the chaos looked at me like he could see the woman keeping score.
For readers who love: short and spicy fated mates, orc romance, scent bonds that fog your glasses, "she can rate everything except him," snarky accountants who think they can evaluate their way through a mating bond, golden retriever energy with a warrior underneath, chaos meets control, he-falls-first-and-harder, claiming bites, and the kind of heat that breaks the rating scale.
She came for the numbers. He broke the whole scale.
Sloane doesn’t trust feelings she can’t measure. As a guarded forensic accountant with a rating system for everything, she walks into an interworld matchmaking program expecting logic, paperwork, and one controlled interview. What she gets is Brokk, a massive orc warrior with wild hair, too much energy, and a scent bond that makes every careful defense in her body start to fail.
Brokk is chaos with a warrior’s hands but a softness hidden under the noise. He’s loud, funny, physically overwhelming, and painfully earnest in the way he wants to be chosen. Sloane tries to evaluate him, but he keeps offering food, protection, devotion, and the kind of attention that sees straight through her composure.
Their connection is fast, heated, and impossible to categorize. The attraction is intense, but the real risk is emotional: Brokk wants all of her, including the parts she keeps locked behind competence and control. Sloane has to decide whether this bond means losing herself, or finally choosing something without needing proof first.
Sloane grows from a guarded woman who uses analysis and distance to stay safe into someone willing to trust her own desire and accept being seen. Brokk grows from a chaotic, approval-seeking warrior who fears being too much into an openly vulnerable mate who learns his devotion doesn’t need to be toned down. Together, they move from overwhelming fated attraction into playful honesty, protective care, mutual choosing, and surrender that feels active instead of forced.
An ultra-steamy orc romance where fated mates, scent bonding, sharp banter, and claiming bites push chaos and control into something deeper. It’s about a guarded woman learning control can protect her, but it can also keep love out, and a warrior proving being too much doesn’t mean being hard to love.
The Elevator Pitch: A guarded accountant enters an alien mate program expecting data, consent forms, and one controlled decision, not a wild-hearted orc whose scent turns her body against every rule she lives by. He’s chaos wrapped around a warrior’s devotion, and the more he offers her food, protection, humor, and heat, the harder it becomes for her to pretend this bond is only biology. Between fated attraction and the terrifying intimacy of being truly seen, she has to decide whether surrender is a loss of control or the first honest choice she’s ever made.
This orc alien romance follows a human woman who signs up for an alien mating program and quickly finds herself matched with someone completely different from her. She is highly structured and methodical, even rating and organizing everything, while he is much more chaotic and instinct-driven. This contrast creates a classic opposites-attract dynamic that works surprisingly well. What makes the story stand out is how the relationship develops—he genuinely tries to meet her where she is, adapting to her structured approach, which makes their connection feel thoughtful and balanced despite their differences. The romance leans toward love at first sight, but within the tone of the story, it fits and remains enjoyable. Overall, a sweet and engaging read that highlights how two very different personalities can come together in a meaningful way.

This author is great. I’m so sad I have now read her whole portfolio and have to wait for the next one.
I loved that the author has very distinct MCs who adapt and grow in such a short book. She also makes the love feel developed and chemistry feel real; which is hard to do with short insta-love/fated mates books. Very impressive.
Monster/alien. Orc. 32 year old accountant analytical FMC. No virgins. Huge green orc. Golden retriever “I’m too much” big personality goofy MMC. Instant attraction. Scent match. He falls first and harder. He is afraid he comes on too strong or will scare her away. Fated mates. Consent. Respect. Caring and loving. Healing. Huge massive cock. Ridged cock. It fits but barely. Breeding/wanting children. Claiming bite/mark. Epilogue with her not yet pregnant but open to it and living in his settlement. Next book teased in epilogue. No cheating. No OMD/OWD. No 3rd act breakup. No miscommunication.
Single POV (FMC).

This short story is female lead POV, well written and edited, and a sweet and steamy, fast-paced, fated mates, opposites attract, size difference, contemporary fantasy romance between Sloane, the female human auditor lead, and Brokk, the extroverted male orc warrior lead. I enjoyed the contrast between Sloane and Brokk’s personalities. I enjoyed Sloane’s openness to new experiences, especially given her normal preferences. I enjoyed Brokk’s patience and devotion, and his determination to not be too much for his mate. I enjoyed the steamy intimate scenes that were overlaid by the sweetness of the characters’ emotions. I enjoyed the happy ending and the set up for the next story.

I actually really enjoy this world the author has created. These characters were so opposite that it worked. I love the type A woman Sloane was. I would not hate to see these characters make an appearance elsewhere in the series.
This was a short but fun read. The main characters were total opposite - Sloane was extremely analytical and methodical while Brokk was more adorable, chaotic himbo, but they worked so well together.
