Excellent debut cozy mystery! Lots of Southern humor, friendly characters (except the killer), cozy pets, and great mystery!

It was such a blast returning to a world I already love! Getting to experience Normal, KY and its residents from a totally new perspective was incredibly fun and refreshing. As always, Tonya’s descriptions are completely impeccable—you can truly feel her deep love for the Daniel Boone National Forest shining through every page. Another absolute winner that I couldn't put down!

I loved getting to see Normal, Kentucky through the eyes of Sadie. I loved that she meets Mae and all the Laundry Club ladies. I enjoyed that Sadie comes to Normal to buy a rare book only to stumble on a murder. I loved this new perspective of a great town and the people that live here. I received a copy of the book and gave an honest opinion.

This is the first of a new series in a very familiar setting. Sadie Whitfield has lost her job as editor and is traveling through Normal on her way to her parents. She is stopping in Normal to pick up an old book which she will resell for some funds. When she arrives at Buck’s store the book has already been sold to someone else. In spite of the fact that Sadie purchased it online. It’s exciting to see some very familiar ladies through different eyes. I loved this book! I’m looking forward to how this new series will be able to differentiate from the campground series.

Now she joining the Laundry Ladies to solve the mystery. And in the process, may just end up staying in Normal and opening a book store. A fun beginning to a new series.

What an amazing first in Tonya Kappes’s new “Boone’s Book Nook Bookstore Mysteries”! It is fast-paced and fun, set in Normal, Kentucky, with many people we know and love, including the Laundry Club Ladies and Happy Trails Campground! It is delightful to see Normal through the fresh eyes of Sadie Whitfield! Mae had lived in New York City before coming to Normal, just like Sadie had. Mae’s first major effort in Normal was clearing herself of murder. Sadie is doing the same, with the help of Mae and her friends.
Sadie worked in the publishing business until her company had to downsize, eliminating Sadie’s and her best friend, Cassie’s, jobs. Sadie was going to see her parents, and noticed a rare, valuable edition of Huckleberry Finn on eBay. She purchased it, knowing she could sell it for almost $37,000 to start over in NYC, and emailed the store that she would pick it up.
Sadie took the short side trip to Normal to get the book from the Tough Nickel, the seller of the book. When she arrived, the thrift shop was closed, so she stopped for gas. Bobby Ray, the foster brother of Mae West Sharp, worked there and sent her to the B & B co-owned by their foster mother, Mary Elizabeth, and her friend Dawn. She also rescued an adorable stray kitten, Watson. They bonded almost instantly.
The next morning, she met Buck at the Tough Nickel. Forgetting the book was on eBay, he had already sold it for ten dollars.
Sadie met Mae and the laundry club ladies, and Waldo, the newspaper editor. Jackie, a lady who made and sold page/ book angels, purchased the book, and Waldo went there with Sadie. That lady was quite a pistol – even had one in her apron that she threatened to shoot Sadie with if she didn’t leave! A call between Mary Elizabeth and Jackie resolved it, and Jackie would exchange the book for Sadie’s sincere apology for her ‘tude when they first met.
Sadie returned to Jackie’s. Her front door was open but Jackie wasn’t inside. Someone had ripped pages and pages from books and scattered them inside. Sadie finally found Jackie in her garden, dead. She had been murdered. After the sheriff questioned her, Sadie became the prime suspect. Mae’s mother kept Sadie out of jail by taking Sadie as her charge. Cassie even drove from NYC to help her.
Confident the real killer would be found, Mary Elizabeth suggested when everything was resolved, Sadie could open her dream bookstore in Normal, but she had no money and no rare book to sell. Mae’s mother was determined – she would help her achieve her dream.
Mary Elizabeth is a genuine Southern mama. She knew Sadie planned to leave Normal and get on with her life, but also recognized when Sadie considered the people who made up Normal. Would she stay, if she didn’t get arrested, especially if Cassie returned to NYC? We learned a lot about Sadie in a short time, and I like her. Her reaction to meeting Carly was priceless!
The Laundry Club Ladies identified only three possible suspects, and questioned them. Two of the potential suspects, and some of the clues really surprised me! Yet, I couldn’t point to even one suspect that felt right. Can you guess whodunit? This author is so talented at hiding killers in plain sight! I highly recommend Bound by Secrets, especially if you love books and bookstores like I do! This is a fabulous start of a new series!

Buck, owner of Tough Nickel Thrift Shop, didn't realize the book had been sold on their ebay page and sold it to a local, Jackie.
Sadie and Waldo went to Jackie's to see if she would sell it but Sadie's New York attitude only got her shot at, actually Jackie shot ip in the air up Sadie didn't know that at the time.
Sadie was staying at Mary Elizabeth's and the Milkery. In Normal, word spread faster than melted butter.
Mary Elizabeth knew about the visit and how it went. She called Jackie and Jackie agreed to meet with Sadie the next day at noon.
Sadie arrived a little before noon, found the front door open and Jackie nowhere around. She went through the house looking for her.
A noise outside drew her attention and as she was about to leave she noticed a figure running from Jackie's garden. She went yelling for them and come upon Jackie's body and a bracelet.
The sheriff automatically said she had killed Jackie over a book.
Everyone has a police scanner so that's what most of the town thought.
The Laundry Club Ladies knew she hadn't killed anyone and they planned on proving it.
Several suspects whittled down and the owner of the bracelet revealed.
Looking forward to reading about the opening of the Boone's Book Nook Bookstore and the adventures that go along with it.

The cozy queen has done it again. I am so excited after reading the first installment in this new series that I am almost foaming at the mouth waiting on the next book. It probably helps that this one also takes place in my favorite fictional town of Normal, Kentucky with all of my favorite fictional characters.
Sadie Whitfield has lost her job as an acquisitions editor. She has been distraught, but her sadness has turned to hopeful joy as she has recently found a valuable book in Normal, Kentucky. This could give her a financial cushion while she finds another job. What she does not expect is the wonderful town of Normal. I laughed so much in the beginning as she met some of the townspeople with their quirky personalities and southern ways. She was not quite sure what to make of it. I sniggered quite frequently.
When a woman ends up dead, everyone's favorite amateur sleuthing crew, The Laundry Club Ladies, come to the rescue. They bring Sadie right into the fold, while also protecting her.
This book was pure joy and so easy to fly through the pages. With the author's smooth writing style, a solid mystery and wonderful characters, it was an afternoon delight. There were plenty of red herrings to work through. I was completely caught off guard by the final reveal.
I highly recommend that cozy mystery lovers do not miss this one, so you can be ready when the next book comes out. I see a long future ahead for Boone's Book Nook.

A spin-off from the Campers and Criminals series introduces us to a new character to Normal, Kentucky. Sadie and her best friend Cassie worked for a city publishing company until their jobs were downsized. But Sadie finds a rare edition of Huckleberry Finn and buys it on ebay. Mary Elizabeth, owner of the Milkery with Dawn her partner had taken Sadie under her wing and convinced her to go back and negotiate with Jackie in a calm manner. But when she got there, she found Jackie, dead. Her best friend Cassie comes to Normal to give Sadie support. Especially, now she becomes the main suspect in her murder and the new friends she made, Mae West, Dottie and the Laundry Club Ladies, decided they have to get involved and prove Sadie's innocence. I love the Campers and Criminals series set in Normal, Kentucky and knew I needed to check this latest series out since it includes them. I think this spinoff series is off to a great start with some new characters mixing with the old favorites. Bound By Secrets is a great start to a new bookish series in a familiar setting. The book is set in Normal, Kentucky, the same world inhabited by Tonya Kappes' other hit series, Camper and Criminals.

Bound by Secrets is an entertaining start for a new series by Tonya Kappes. Set in the town of Normal, Kappes' new series brings to town a new character and narrator while also keeping around favorite characters and the beloved setting of Normal. Sadie has just lost her job and has come to Normal to find a rare book. She quickly meets the unique and memorable characters that readers have come to love from Kappes' campers and criminals mystery series. Things don't go as planned though when Sadie becomes a suspect in a murder investigation. With the help of the Laundry Club ladies, Sadie finds herself trying to solve this case.
Kappes does a good job at setting up a new series in a very familiar setting. It was interesting seeing the town and characters of Normal through fresh eyes. Sadie has quickly become a likeable character and an enjoyable new narrator for this new series. I look forward to learning more about her as well as hoping for more adventures with her. The book's mystery is well done full of enough twists and turns to keep the reader's interest. Overall, Bound by Secrets proved to be a great read that I would most definitely recommend. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Krazy for Tonya Kappes and her fabulous writing (read all the series) and delighted for a new series!
Sadie lost her job as an editor in a publishing house in NYC and comes to Normal, Ky for a rare book. Sadie plans to sell and establish herself in the city, but her plans fallllll apart and so does she, when the local Sheriff declares her the primary suspect in a local murder. Good thing she is staying with Mary Elizabeth at the Milkery, where Mary Elizabeth takes Sadie in hand and guides her into understanding the Southern way of life.
Sadie is still in shock and is stunned, since of course she did not kill the local gal, but she must stay and prove her innocence, hunt for her missing first edition and figure out where her life is going from there.
Happily she meets the Laundry Club ladies, more locals and makes a boatload of sweet Ky friends that help her, and through their efforts, including the delightful Mae from Criminals and Campgrounds and multiple crossover characters from that same series (such fun!) Bound by Secrets is a hoot and a half to enjoy for an afternoon, (the killer was SHOCKING!) and an absolutely worthwhile read

I enjoyed reading this first installment in a new spinoff of the Campers and Criminals series. What I really liked about this story is that we see the characters from the Campers and Criminals series, the town of Normal and Daniel Boone National Park from the point of view of a new character. I really enjoyed the reminder of these descriptions.
I’m enjoying getting to know this new character who plans to open a bookstore in Normal with a lot of encouragement from the Laundry Club Ladies and other characters. She seems to fit in well in the new to her community.
When this new character is a suspect in a murder and is in the custody of Mary Elizabeth, the Laundry Club Ladies are trying to prove her innocence. Although there seemed to be some possible suspects, I never figured out the killer until that person was revealed.
Dottie and several other characters provided some comic release. There were passages where I was laughing out loud.
I’m looking forward to seeing how this new series progresses.

New book as a spin off Campers and Criminals series by the talented author, Tonya Kappes. This series main character is Sadie Whitfield, former acquisitions editor from New York. She recently lost her job during a downsizing event within her company and is traveling to visit her parents. Sadie notices a valued book at a very reasonable price on eBay. She purchases "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" by Mark Twain. Sadie drives to pick up the book from the owner of the Tough Nickel in Normal, Kentucky. Buck, the owner, accidently sold the book to a fellow resident, Jackie. Jackie is later found dead in her garden by Sadie. Missing are the murder weapon and the valuable book.
Sadie is falsely accused of murdering Jackie. Mary Elizabeth and the Laundry Club ladies Camper series join forces with Sadie to prove her innocence. What a wonderful new spin off series! Can't wait to read the next book in this series.

What a charming start to a new series! Boone's Book Nook Bookstore Mysteries promises to be every bit as special as the beloved Campers and Criminals series. With the same folksy Normal, Kentucky setting and crossovers from our favorites, the Laundry Club Ladies, et al, how can Secrets not be a success? Our new sleuth, out-of-work book editor Sadie, is a delight. When her simple stop in Normal to pick up a rare book leads to murder and mystery, I love how the townfolk take her under their wing. Of course, we're kept guessing until the last second who the culprit is this time around! With Sadie convinced in the aftermath to open Boone's Book Nook, I foresee many a mystery, not only on the shelves but for Sadie to solve! Bound by Secrets is the perfect cozy kickoff to a brand new series that blends small town charm, lovable characters, and a mystery that kept me hooked from beginning to end. When Sadie arrives in Normal, Kentucky to retrieve a rare book she purchased, she finds herself at the center of a murder investigation after the buyer is found dead. I loved watching this city girl settle into Normal’s quirky, close knit community, where everyone knows everyone and the Laundry Ladies are always ready to help solve a mystery. The cozy atmosphere, humor, heart, and strong sense of found family made this feel like coming home. If you’ve loved Tonya Kappes’ Normal universe before, this new series expands it beautifully while introducing a fresh heroine I’m already excited to follow. I can’t wait to see where Sadie’s story and Boone’s Book Nook Bookstore Mysteries goes next.

How hard can it be to find a bookstore in Normal, Kentucky? Sadie Whitfield soon will soon discover that the town of Normal closes at 6 pm and there is no bookstore. Apparently, Sadie purchased a valuable and rare book online through a thrift store. I love that there is another spinoff of the Camper and Criminals Cozy Mysteries. This one, as with the others, does not disappoint. This new series takes a different direction, with the main character, a book editor from New York, Sadie Whitfield, showing up in Nomal to acquire a rare first edition. The book ends up missing; Sadie is the suspect in a murder, and well, just pick up the book to find out how this goes. As this new character joins the quirky and spunky crew we have become so lovingly familiar with, there is a murder to be solved, friendships to cultivate, and also a new place to possibly call home? Twists and turns will keep you guessing till the end in this very entertaining first in series, and I look forward to the ones to follow. Without a doubt, this series will quickly become a fan favorite. I highly recommend it to any cozy mystery lover!

As if all the other series weren't amazing, we have a new series now!!!!!!!!! Squeal!!!!! This is the first book in the Boone's Book Nook Bookstore Mysteries. Sadie Whitfield, former New York acquisitions editor is so excited she found a rare first edition of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn in Normal, Kentucky of all places. She travels to the quaint town to the bookstore that has the volume she wants, but before she can buy the book the bookstore owner is found dead and as an outsider she is the prime suspect. Sadie is terrified and enlists the amazing Laundry Club Ladies to help prove her innocence. With so many suspects and many clues, Sadie realizes this could be more dangerous than she ever imagined. Sadie realizes she loves Normal Kentucky and would love to make it her home if she can live long enough to clear her name.

If you love the A Camper and Criminals Series, you are gonna love this new spin-off. Bound by Secrets is the first book in a new series that takes place in Normal, Ky, and although you might see some of your beloved characters from Normal and Happy Trails Campground (such as Mae and Dottie), there is a new amateur sleuth in town, Sadie.
