She always has. With the help of her family, and the firm conviction that the dead are mostly just people who need a little patience, she has managed her gift in secret her whole life.
Marrying Fitzwilliam Darcy is the greatest joy of her life, and her greatest risk. Pemberley is ancient, grand, and very, very haunted. Elizabeth knows she will have to face whatever is waiting for her there, and she knows she cannot hide her secret from her husband forever. She just needs to find the right moment to tell him.
She does not get one. Pemberley is teeming with centuries of opinionated spectral residents, headed by a formidable great-grandmother who has very specific requirements for the new Mrs Darcy. And before Elizabeth can even begin to navigate her new household, living and dead, she meets the one ghost she never expected.
Her father-in-law. And he has something terrible to tell her.
George Darcy was murdered. Poisoned by his own godson, George Wickham. The same Wickham who is now married to Elizabeth's youngest sister. And George cannot rest until his killer is brought to justice.
Elizabeth cannot reveal what she knows without risking everything. In 1812, a woman who claims to see ghosts could lose her marriage, her freedom, and even her life. She cannot prove George was murdered without evidence no court would accept. And Lady Catherine de Bourgh has just arrived at Pemberley, sharp-eyed and hostile, watching Elizabeth's every move.
A poignant, darkly funny Pride and Prejudice continuation about love, justice, family secrets, and ghosts who absolutely refuse to be managed.
I've been writing since I was 5 years old. I've always had to set it aside and try to concentrate on so-called 'real life' though. I've had a number of interesting careers - engineer, real estate sales agent, owner of an electrical goods store, silversmith - but finally the time has come for me to return to my first love. Writing.
I've always loved the works of Jane Austen, so perhaps it's fitting that my first published work should be a variation on the much beloved Pride And Prejudice.

Love lingers like a beautiful ghost. — Jane Austen
Elizabeth Bennet sees dead people. She is acquainted with the ghosts of her home: the grandparents, aunts, and uncles who inhabited Longbourn in years past.
Now she will be married and move to a new home; a home even older than Longbourn; a home that is sure to have residents who no longer live.
The past is never dead. It’s not even past. — William Faulkner
As a rule, ghost stories don’t appeal to me, but I was totally immersed in the “Ghosts of Pemberley.” Maids who continue cleaning. A governess who continues reading. Butlers who patrol the entry. Children who play games and race through the house. A long-ago master who is said to have been bad-tempered. And, of course, Nana, who knows everything about Pemberley. Even murder!
But how to prove murder with no living witnesses?
Loved it!
All houses wherein men have lived and died are haunted houses. — Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Elizabeth sees dead people. An amazing look into the thin veil between mortality and the next life. I loved this storyline of family relationships and the loving care that continues beyond the grave, and firmly believe that our deceased loved ones are closer than we realize. Books that explore this premise are always favorites, but I rarely shed tears while reading. This book had me wiping away many bittersweet tears. Extraordinary story!
Extraordinary. So well written. Elizabeth can see and speak to ghosts. It's been a closely guarded secret all of her life. But now she's Elizabeth Darcy, newly married mistress of Pemberly, walking into a 400 year old house filled with ghosts and challenges and murder. I laughed and cried and was enthralled. I've read over 2000 variations. This is the BEST!
Pride and Prejudice meets The Ghost Whisperer in all of the very best of ways. I loved the humor, pathos, and various twists that filled the story. I loved seeing Kitty with a true personality of her own, filled with perception and quick thinking. The character of Nana is without a doubt the best non-canon being in the book!
Wow, just wow! Elizabeth sees and communicates with ghosts and has since a small child. No one else in her present family can but they are protective of her. Kitty is especially helpful! But can they keep the secret? Great story. Bad Wickham, and fascinating way he is taken care of.
Had to read the same day! This was very original and excellent. Great writing. Loved all the characters - especially the ghosts! Such individual personalities!
I very much enjoyed this. ODC are great and there is little angst. Surprising Anne and Kitty. Loved there character development. Lady Catherine awful as usual, and a truly repugnant Wickham of course. I highly recommend. I really appreciate the ghosts, especially Nana!
I don’t usually read any kind of fantasy book but this one was fascinating - a really good and imaginative story. It was so well written, it almost had me believing in the existence of ghosts! I particularly liked Ms Bilson’s Darcy - he never puts a foot wrong. Most characters stay close to canon - Wickham and Lady Catherine very/quite nasty, Caroline too. All the Bennets are sympathetically drawn - even poor Lydia. Elizabeth is obviously the main character and she struggles with a very inconvenient handicap but she has the endless understanding and support of her husband as well as many other characters - altogether a very well deserved HEA for most.

I enjoyed this story but it felt AI in areas. The “not this, but this) every paragraph. The listing 3 things, etc. Editors will know what I’m talking about. I could be wrong, as there is no way to prove it. On a whim, I compared the writing to a 2016 release and the writing did not read as AI like this novel. The author is talented and should trust her natural voice. The writing and creativity is good without the possible AI polish.
