Some people turn to whiskey to forget the past, but Sommer is depending on Whiskey to survive the present.
ER nurse Sommer Hayes is completely done with high-stakes chaos. After getting badly burned by love, she is finally building the quiet, stable life she craves in her secluded cottage in the woods. But her hard-won sanctuary is shattered when a grieving Bloodhound K9 named Whiskey takes up residence up the street. Frustrated by the dog's relentless howling, Sommer takes to social media to vent - completely unaware that her single viral post is about to bring the FBI straight to her door.
FBI Special Agent Gabriel Atworth is a master geolocator, tracking global threats by mapping the tiniest clues in digital images. But when he inherits his late brother's K9 partner, Whiskey, Gabriel finds himself stranded on a grid he cannot map.
When his dog's antics go viral, threatening a highly classified operation, Gabriel moves to shut the video down. He tracks the digital breadcrumbs to Sommer's door, only to find an empty house. She and her friends are already deep in the rugged Virginia mountains, trapped in a sudden, life-threatening medical emergency.
Far from help in the dense wilderness, Sommer must rely on her intense ER training to keep everyone alive, completely cut off from civilization. With time rapidly running out, Gabriel has no choice but to trust Whiskey's search-and-rescue instincts. Nose to the ground, the loyal K9 leads the way into the mountain terrain as Gabriel launches a desperate race against time to reach Sommer before the crisis turns fatal.
As they fight to bring Sommer's friends home safely, Gabriel faces a threat he never saw coming: a smart, capable woman who might just breach his own fiercely guarded heart.
Whiskey is an action-packed military and law enforcement romantic suspense novel. If you love female solidarity, pulse-pounding danger, and hyper-competent heroes, you will love this high-stakes, slow-burn, closed-door romance featuring a dedicated protector, a resilient heroine, and a loyal K9 partner.

This is technically the first book in a new series, but one of my favorite things about this author’s books is that they’re all interrelated between series, with appearances by characters we met in other books. I’ve read probably her last 20 books and every one of them is stellar. One of the main characters in this story is an ER nurse, so as a former RN I especially enjoyed that. The other main character is an FBI agent in the digital area—an expert in analyzing a photo and identifying things about the location that no one else seems to be able to place. That was really fascinating. They meet in a unique way and I loved the story; there was a bit of danger, suspense and bonding through that. I definitely recommend this book and author; I was provided an ARC, which I appreciate, but these opinions are my own.
We go back to the world of Iniquus with Whiskey. You gotta love a story that includes a sad eyed, opera singin hound! FBI Special Agent Gabriel Atworth inherited his deceased younger brother, Daniel's, Cerburus train dog. Daniel always said he'd come back to haunt Gabe if he died before him. Is Whiskey his haunting? Sommer Hayes, ER Nurse, sees the worst of human behavior, works long exhausting hours and tries to balance her life whenever possible. She sings opera, hikes and has a close knit set of friends. A hiking trip gone terribly wrong, viral social media posts and being at the wrong place at the wrong time put her in danger and Gabe in her pathway. He becomes her champion and protector as his team works to find missing agents. What a wonderful pair Gabe and Sommer are then add in the his singing hound and your heart will melt. Fabulous book!
Gabriel is recovering from the death of his brother. He's also adjusting to becoming a dog dad. His journey also takes him into the path of his neighbor, Sommer. His life as a FBI Special Agent is intense and draining and lonely. Sommer's life as an emergency department nurse is chaotic, exhausting, and isolating. Both their careers are based on science and facts. But based on the world of Iniquus, the touch of mystical and spirtual precepts cannot be overlooked. Those canon certainly bring Gabriel and Sommer the happiness they crave. This is a fast paced, action driven romance.
*****UPDATED***** I am reading an ARC copy of Whiskey by Fiona Quinn so far I'm in love with this book More to come soon
Whiskey is a phenomenal book!!! It is fantastically written Fiona Quinn has yet again captured my heart in one of her stories from the beginning it starts off with a bang and it seems to be fast pace but if you pay attention closely you'll learn more about the spiritual connections left after loved ones passed and you'll find that a bond between a dog and their owner/handler cannot be broken I love the overall story with the witchy vibes that come through until you are able to put the pieces together at the end this story is a quick read definitely one that will help you escape reality into the Nicholas world and if you're like me it will capture your heart from the beginning I highly recommend this book it is one of my all-time favorites written by Fiona Quinn and I love whiskey she is so full of personality and it just comes through the pages this is definitely a five-star book if I could give it more stars I would and I do not hesitate to recommend reading this and all the other books in the iniquit world written by Fiona Quinn I was honored to be given an arc copy of this book and I read through it at least five times enjoying it and discovering new spots that I missed before in each read it's like every time I turn the page something new popped out at me and made the book and story even that more incredible
a Very fast weekend after a slow no contact alignment
This is another excellent tale from Fiona Quinn. It begins with an ending and continues with strong independent people doing important work without direct contact. It is illuminated; in flashes, by the connections that defy explanation until the day comes that a woman sends the male protagonist in search of her twin with deep fear for her sister.
From the moment they meet their lives entwine and they learn each other’s strengths and weaknesses.
I love the Iniquis world and all its associated groups. I’ve read every single one and have been looking forward to “Wiskey” for weeks. It does not disappoint. I especially liked the little additions of “magic”. It includes a poignant experience of loss and grief as well as the heart pounding suspense followed by a great HEA that Fiona is superb at. I totally recommend this book and the entire series.
A wonderful story about Gabriel, Sommer and Whiskey! I always learn new things from Ms Quinn’s stories. Gabriel and Sommer don’t meet until later in the story, but circumstances happen where they are adjacent to each other. Everything comes together in the end for a happy ending. Wonderful read and looking forward to the next book.
Maybe I should have titled my review Whiskey, the Wonder Dog, because she truly is the glue who keeps this storyline moving. The emotions of grief and loss are mingled with the strange healing magic which surrounds Gabriel, Sommer, and Whiskey. It makes the reader stop and think about the possible haunting theories involving life after death.
Somer and Gabriel were great characters! Lots of action for these two and wonderful secondary characters. Whiskey was the wonderful vocal dog who linked the characters. Lots of action from start to the end. Loved it!!
Fiona is an amazing storyteller! I loved this story! Even tho there was suspense, drama, trauma, there was also a sense of magic weaving through the pages! Totally loved the opera!
Great book!! :) It has depth. The characters are not your typical romance partners. Love Whiskey (the bloodhound). Eager to read the next book in the series when it's released.
