In the decade following the brutal murder of his wife and daughter, Ian has existed in a world built on grief and hatred. Just when Ian has finally begun to claw his way through the shadows of his past, a knife to the heart ends it all . . . or is it the beginning? After waking up in a strange home, Ian’s only companion is the woman who saved him. Undeniably drawn to her, Ian finds himself wondering if it really is possible to love again.
Trapped in a world where she is little more than a pawn for the Fae, Kyleigh long ago accepted the reality of her existence. She is no one’s savior and no one’s guardian angel; she is death. That is until she breaks all the rules to save a vampire many believe beyond salvation. Ian sparks a passion she never believed possible and reawakens emotions she thought long buried.
While secluded in a realm between life and death, Ian and Kyleigh are free to explore their feelings for each other. When enemies, past and present, join forces to destroy those Ian loves, they are forced to leave the safety of Kyleigh’s realm. Can their fragile bond survive when they are faced with the demons of Ian’s past?
Cassandra Lawson lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and her two youngest children. When she is not writing, she enjoys spending time with her family, listening to music, or curling up with a good book.
The Series: The Moon Virus Series is one of my all time favorite series. Each book can be read as a standalone. However, they should be read in order so that the reader can fully grasp the conditions of the earth and the back stories that lead to each book. I love that in each book there is a conclusion to each couples story and a conclusion to the settlements current dilemma in each book. This way I am not left frustrated over the current fate of each couple or the settlement. So I guess what I am saying is there are NO MAJOR CLIFFHANGERS. Each book leaves just enough to let you know that the series will continue and it will contain the all the characters that we love. As it should be. Using this technique, shows me that the author respects her fans and wants to satisfy us with a full beginning, middle and end experience, while reading each one of her books. This in turn keeps us coming back for more, even without cliffhangers. I have been a fan of this series since book one and Mrs. Lawson was actually nice enough to give me an early copy of this book for review. Although, I had already planned to buy it no matter what and I will continue to follow all of the Moon Virus books for as long as she will write them.
Seducing Death: I absolutely loved the third addition to this series. In Seducing Death, we follow Ian and a new character, Kyleigh. I do not believe in giving spoilers. I will say that there were some good surprises and that their story was very sweet, witty, and sexy. There were moments where I laughed out loud. (Which, of course caused a few odd looks my way from my co-workers during break.) I was actually surprised about how much I loved Ian. Especially having read Ravens Blood, but somehow Mrs. Lawson made it all work out and now Ian is one of my favorite characters. I really wanted to slap Arawn and especially Roger. I cannot wait for November 2015 which is when we get to read Danny's story. I'm Super excited!!!!
I was thrilled when I saw that Ian would get his own story. Let's be frank: he's pretty much a huge asshole in the first novel, though he's redeemed slightly by his affection for Mitchell in the second book. But still, overall? Not entirely likeable. And yet. Part of me knew that there had to be more to Ian, and I wanted to read his story.
Lawson does not disappoint in this third installment. We finally get behind Ian's sarcastic douche-baggery and see a bit of what makes him tick. Let's be clear: he still has his asshole moments. There were still plenty of times I wanted to reach right through the pages and punch him in the face for the way he treated Kyleigh. But he comes around, and he grows on you. Kind of like a very handsome and likeable fungus: annoying, but not without its own merits. ;-)
And the chemistry behind Ian and Kyleigh? It's there from page one. They just mesh well together. In fact, I loved that Ian, who admits to usually liking "lithe" figures, just can't resist Kyleigh's curves. It's nice to see a curvy girl getting some love every now and then, not that I have anything against willowy nymphs and kick-ass shifter girls.
And that brings us to Kyleigh. I loved the layers to her character. She's at once reserved and spunky, innocent and jaded. Watching her character emerge from the walls she'd built around herself was fascinating, and the way she put up with Ian's shit was pretty damn impressive. Kyleigh is one of those truly selfless characters that you can't help but like and pull for, and I loved the relationship she build with Mitchell too. Because, let's be honest: as a significant factor in Ian's redemption, Mitchell and Kyleigh had to work for Kyleigh and Ian to work.
You're going to love this installment in the Moon Virus series!
*I was proved an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.*
This is the third book in the moon virus series. I really enjoyed the first two and was really looking forward to this. I wasn't disappointed.
This is Ian's story. We've met him before in the series. He's bitter and unable to move on from a tragedy. He wasn't the most endearing of people but I could understand where he was coming from. But just when he seemed to be turning his life around and have something to live for it seems that his time has run out. Or has it?
Ian's character grew a lot through this book and I enjoyed reading it and getting to know the real Ian. He is a great multi faceted character who's strong when needed but also protective and honourable as well.
I loved kyleigh. She's strong but compassionate and fair. She can stand up for herself but doesn't expect great things for herself. She's resigned to her existence. She didn't expect to develop feelings for Ian. I'm glad she did as she deserved to find some happiness as much as Ian did.
They were both good characters that I could connect with and cared what happened to them. It was good to catch up with previous characters from the series and meet some new ones as well.
The story is written well and the plot flows along with lots of romance, suspense and even some comedy. I really like this series. It's a completely different twist on the vampire legend that is really clever. It's a well thought out and executed story world with different and unusual paranormal species, good plots and genuinely unpleasant bad guys.
I enjoyed this from start to finish and can't wait for the next in the series.
I would definitely recommend this and if you're a fan of paranormal romance and you haven't read this great series yet then you are definitely missing out.
The Moon Virus, that's were this all started and this series was good from the start but now I know the characthers it's even better.
This is Ian's story, being honest he wasn't one of my favourites in the first book, but Cassandra has weaved her magic, took us into Ian's past, heart and possible future and I will say his not perfect and occasionally you will want to give him a slap, but he will warm your heart and you'll want him to have a happy ever after.
Kyleigh, she's a fabulous characther her job is not pleasant and she has to deal with all that goes with that, until it's Ian's turn, she then makes a life changing decision that will affect more than her!
I found these two were perfect for each other, but of course wanna be couples in books never talk enough about the things they should, that would be too easy lol. They do talk lots and the dialogue between Ian and Kyleigh is entertaining. Ian is well known for being a little grumpy, Mitchell his adopted son has bought some fun back to his life, if he lets Kyleigh in he could have some sparkle too......
I really like how all the other characthers take a small background part in the story, and because they know Ian well, the banter they share is amusing. Talking characthers I'm loving Cam and Zane the shifters, and the interesting unanswered as of yet story development.
All in all a great read you'll really enjoy, full of paranormal of all species, a romance with drama and a little suspense mixed in for good measure. When's the next book out...
I LOVED SEDUCING DEATH! This is got to be my favorite in the A Moon Virus Series. I really liked Kyleigh. She is one tough as nails heroine. The fact she is dangerous yet remarkably sweet and kind. She thinks she is nothing more then a nightmare, until she rescues sexy vampire, Ian.
I thought the set of characters for Seducing Death were very hypnotic. I loved the idea of a strong female who saved a sexy vampire. The fact that Ian isn't weak was a relief as well as sexy too. Ian is sweet, devastatingly hot, and is a real charmer. At first I thought that Ian and Kyleigh were almost a mix-matched pair. But I was pleasantly surprised to find as I was reading along, that these two were not only perfect together, but were truly made for each other.
When glancing at the cover, one would almost think it is a depressing story. Even though there is some suspense, danger, and a bit of drama, Seducing Death is in no way depressing. Its actually a pretty breathtaking story with enchanting characters and a strong storyline. I give this book, a MIGHT FINE FOUR SHOOTING STARS! Its well put together and is just another example of how talented Cassandra Lawson is.
The third book of the Moon Virus Series by Cassandra Lawson does not disappoint. I was excited to see book three was about Ian, who I thought, was in need of his own story, almost to redeem himself in the readers eyes. There is so much more to Ian than what I originally thought, even though he seems to be unable to move on from his horrific past, I love how he and Kyleigh seem drawn to each other first chapter. Oh, Kyleigh! I loved her character! She is a strong character in this story, she has many layers to her that make her interesting, and I felt connected to her right away. The twists, turns, danger, suspense, and drama will keep you on toes, waiting to find out what will happen with these two.
Any way. I hate to give spoilers, so I am going to tell you all, even if you are not into paranormal books, Cassandra Lawson will pull you into her stories and in to this world of passion and suspense. When I read these stories, I sometimes forget that I am even reading about paranormal characters. Her writing has a way to connect you to the world of the paranormal! I highly recommend the Moon Virus Series to everyone. Seducing Death is one of my favorite in the series for sure.
How can a 5 star series keep getting better? It happens when the author produces a beauty that excels way past the normal rating system. I wish I could SCREAM the wonders of this 5 plus plus plus work of art. From the beginning I have been a huge fan. It was so easy to fall in love with the Moon Virus stories. The connection and attraction to the characters was undeniable. This one just continued on with the highest quality of excellence. A storyline that was detailed, entertaining, and attentive. A great continuation of established roles and relationships while new ones were introduced and developed. I have never been so engrossed. It was impossible to read fast enough. My emotions were all over the place. I needed to find the answers. I needed that resolution. There had to be a safe HAPPY ending. Closure for the drama and tranquility for the lives involved. My heart was to invested for anything else. There is no way to express my recommendation for this book or series. I never pick a favorite because each story holds a different place. But WOW! I sure loved this one. Start from the beginning and enjoy this magical journey. AndreaGAH
This was an excellent book! I was really looking forward to Ian's story, but was surprisingly pleased that I was really drawn into Kyleigh's world! I really liked the fae addition to the world that Cassandra has created. I liked the friendship of the girls in the group as the book progressed. It made her a more complex character, which I enjoyed. I loved this latest edition in the series. They can be stand alone books, but go read the other ones... you will NOT be disappointed!
I received a copy from the author for an honest review. OMG! This series just keeps getting better. I loved Ian and Kyleigh's story. I am so loving this series. If you've read the first two then your gonna love this one. If you haven't please check out book one, Raven's Blood and fall in love with the Cassandra Lawson's Moon Virus series.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Once I started I could not put it down until the very last page was read. It moved along at an amazing pace, has incredible characters and a story that will grab you and not let you go until you finish the very last page. This has got to be read.
I enjoyed this third book in the series... Ian was a bit annoying with his grumpiness, but I though kyleigh was a good contrast and match for him! Can't believe I have to wait til November for the next book!
This is Ian and Kyleigh's story. Ian is a born vampire and one of the leaders of the settlement. Having lost his wife and child to murder by humans, Ian promoted rebellion in the settlements and even tried to keep humans as blood slaves. A lot of his friends saw him as grieving and just let him be, at least until Raven walked into Connor's life, and changed quite a few vampires thinking about humans, and other worldly creatures. While out on a mission to check on a human settlement Simon and Ian are ambushed and Ian believing that he was dying sent a final message to Connor telling him about Simon’s abduction and that he was on the verge of death. When a woman who he mistakes for his dead wife suddenly appears and he passes out only to wake up and find himself in a cottage and badly injured, with a woman he doesn't know, that saved him. "So your like the grim reaper?" "Some might call me that." Kyleigh made a promise years ago and she intends to keep it if she can figure out how, and she does even though she breaks all the rules to do it. She knows she has a punishment coming because she snatched a soul from the shadows coming to collect it for the Shadow Lord Arawn. Kyleigh knows she has no excuse to do what she did for Ian and did it anyway. She believes that he was on the verge of redeeming himself and could not let him pass on, without the opportunity to do so. But her decision to help him changes both of their lives in ways neither of them expect. In an effort to save Ian and herself she claims him as mate, when given the hint to do so she does it without thinking about the consequences to Ian or herself. Ian finds himself to be very mellow in Kyleigh's home and he also finds that he is attracted to her, and not so burdened with guilt about not being faithful to Kate's memory. Before Kyleigh even has the chance to explain to Ian what has happened Arawn shows up demanding to witness the mating. So, in a fit of protectiveness towards Kyleigh, Ian’s blood bonds himself to her without a second thought. This is just the beginning of the turmoil fueled relationship. Unsure if he will ever love her and also not sure how she will get him back to Mitchell. (His adopted son.) This story is gripping from start to finish and I couldn't put it down. A fantastic read.
If you have read any of the other Moon Virus books then you will have already met Ian and you will know that even on a good day, he's a bit of a... erm... 'grump'. It's hard to think of a word to describe him that isn't swearing! Although this book could indeed be read as a standalone, I personally wouldn't recommend it. To start with, you're missing out on two brilliant books that introduce a whole new world and amazing characters. Also, you get the see the changes that occur in the characters when they meet someone they care about. This change is obvious to everyone apart from Ian when he meets Kyleigh.
Kyleigh is a wonderful character who knows exactly how to deal with Ian. However, I did feel that although she is sassy and strong in other circumstances, with Ian she was a bit too passive at times. Now, I can understand why (which I won't go into detail about as I don't want to give out any spoilers) but at the same time, I would have liked to have seen a bit more fire from her.
Saying that though, this book once again is a fantastic read. It has humour, sadness, twists and quirks that set you up for a book that will keep you turning the pages. A brilliant addition to the series and one I can highly recommend.

Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books! Apr 29, 2015
I have enjoyed the three books that I have read so far and I will download the next one straight away. Ian's story is complicated, but it makes compelling reading. There is a point in the book when I like him, then I don't, then I like him again. Kyleigh seems just too good for Ian and it takes him time to fully commit, which is a bit heart breaking. Good read with some social commentary included in the book. Part of Kindle Unlimited.
