This book wasn’t quite what I was expecting. I thought I was getting a cute rom-com, a fish out of water story. I got the fish out of water part, but not so much the rom-com. Am I disappointed? Not in the least.

“Loose Ends & Lost Causes” is about two people who seem to be diametrically opposed, thrown together for reasons unknown. Mia is a young woman secure in her place amongst a loving co-op family. Lucas is a finance bro trying to somehow mitigate the fallout of a massive mistake he made. He thinks he can talk Mia into selling the land for a quick profit. He realizes pretty soon that he doesn’t have a chance.

This book was a slow walk, but the view sure was pretty. We get to know Mia, Lucas and the residents of Seaglass Cove at a gradual pace, learning about them, as they learn about each other. There are funny moments, but the book skews toward a more thoughtful tempo. The pace seems to mirror the tone of life at Seaglass.

This isn’t really a book I would recommend picking up for an amusing few hours, despite the mood the cover gives off (featuring a drawing of the two main characters and two llamas). This book deserves a serious devotion to it, giving it a chance to slowly make its delights known to you the same way Seaglass Cove let Lucas in on its secrets. Along the way you just might fall in love with Mia, Lucas, Captain, Mrs. Dalloway and the rest of the residents. And it just might have you wishing you could find your own Seaglass Cove. I know I do.

This is book 3 in Andria's Off the Grid series and a wonderful addition to the series that can be read as a standalone. While this is a great romance read with a slow burn and steam which is well balanced, I didn't get a lot of humor to go with the rom-com label. While I love humor, I appreciated that Andria didn't skimp on storyline which was wonderfully captivating, well written and smooth flowing. A great addition to the series but great all by itself. Definitely worth checking out!
