Dark, intense, and completely addictive.

This book had me hooked from the very first chapter. It’s packed with tension, secrets, and emotional intensity that keeps you turning pages nonstop. Every chapter pulled me deeper into the story, and I honestly couldn’t put it down.

The characters are complex, flawed, and incredibly compelling. Their dynamics are layered with power struggles, vulnerability, and chemistry that absolutely crackles off the page. I loved how emotionally charged every interaction felt — nothing was simple, and that made the story even more addictive.

The atmosphere of the book is dark and gripping, with just the right balance of suspense, emotion, and romance. K.R. Mist does an amazing job building tension and keeping the stakes high while still giving the characters room to grow and connect.

Pawn is the kind of book that completely consumes your attention and leaves you thinking about it long after you finish. If you love dark romance with emotional depth, intense character dynamics, and nonstop tension, this is definitely a must-read. ♟️🖤

Thank you to K.R. Mist for an ARC!

This one was a wild ride! Desperate to escape her past, Crimson unknowingly runs straight into the arms of Cruxley, the one person dark enough to give her the protection she seeks. Crimson was quirky and stubborn, with a dark side lurking beneath her surface. Cruxley was unhinged and obsessed with Crimson at first glimpse. Together, they were a storm set to unleash destruction. The plot was twisted and left me never knowing what could be believed. The twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat. This one did have the miscommunication trope, which had me wanting to pull my hair out at times, however, the drama it stirred up was necessary for the plot twists to land with their full effect. And the spice? It was well done and balanced out the plot nicely. Overall, I would recommend this one, as it was a fast-paced, darker, fun time!

I'm reeling. To say i didn't see that coming would be the biggest understatement I've ever made.

FMC Crimson is a strong, fiery, brat 😁. Determined to get away from a past she hates, she lands in a familiar town and begins again. While trying to stay under the radar from the past haunting her, she lands in the hands of a monster that has a taste for her particular bratty nature.

MMC Cruxley contains the monster but only for her, this stranger that has come into his city, his life. A man of order, rules and that values loyalty. Once she enters his orbit he will never let her leave it.

The past catches up to Crim, but what leads it to her? The twist, the unbelievable truths revealed I'm blown away. Just enough spice but the story and plot are incredible enough that the spice was just a little icing in the cake.

What a crazy ride!!! I loved every minute of it!! There are so many twists and turns that kept me guessing the whole time!

I really liked Crimson. Some FMC drive you crazy at certain points and Crimson didn’t. She was a fighter and a good friend. I loved her friendship with Jovie.

Crux (as his friends call him and I want to be his friend! 🤣) is kinda crazy. He has a an alter ego that is a monster but like the beast it softens for Crimson.

The town is called Hell which it basically is. It seems like the most of people who live there are horrible human beings. It was great how everything tied together in those last couple chapters. The “game” was INSANE and I absolutely loved it.
