I've been reading this trope, enslaved prince falls in love with his captor, a lot lately. I can't say that I enjoyed this version. Too many things are just so easy but the biggest being the way Adrian's brothers (and parents) step aside from their rightful claim to the throne.
Adrian feels at times like a chick-with-a-dick. He spends a lot of time being carried around by Magnus or having panic attacks and shaking in fear.

The "bdsm" feels odd at best. Or maybe I have just read too many books by people who know what they are talking about. This was "50 Shades of Gray"-level bdsm.

There were a couple of HUGE grammatical errors that I just couldn't move on from. Just what I can expect from a high schooler to write not a graduate student wishing to pursue a career as an editor.

Yeah, this was one of those books, that could have been freaking awesome, BUT the way Adrian was treated totally ruined it for me.
One thing is the master/slave-relationship that develops, this could have been hot, if not for the fact that Magnus was a fucking manipulative douche, that uses Adrian and keep using him throughout the story.
Another thing is that Adrian was freaking awesome, until he became another ridiculous excuse for a MC. It started out so well; Adrian had a mind of his own, he was independent, clever, agile and funny, but then... Yeah.

A reviewer (N. C. Wightman) on Amazon said it way better, than what I could come up with:
"Another proud prince becomes a slave story, and this time the captor enjoys using the Stockholm Syndrome method of rape. For the usual unknown reasons, the brave prince becomes a slutty, slobbery submissive in no time at all."

I got this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review.

As a fantasy die hard fan this had quite a few of my pleasure points in it. Both of the Main Characters are elven princes at the beginning of the book. Adrian awakes to his family's castle being invaded. Adrian is the youngest of the four princes of Merish, and is a more scholarly and strategic thinker as opposed to a fighter. He is agile and feisty. He is the last brother captured and leads the Kitarian army on quite a chase running through the palace and then escaping by climbing down the palace walls and fleeing to the woods where he takes to the trees for a hopeful escape. He is captured and taken to the General's prince to become a slave and sexual pet.

Magnus is an Elven prince of better moral standard than the Kingdom he was born into, Kitar. The society is based on abuse and humiliation of slaves. while Magnus doesn't mind owning slaves, he is turned off by the public abuse and humiliation they are forced to endure. He is considered a failure by his father no matter how successful his raids and wars are. Magnus is often overlooked amd slighted because he is not favored by his Father, the King.

Marcus tries to gently get Adrian a virgin comfortable with his new status as a slave. Marcus and his general, Arais are the two beacons of sanity and taste in Kitar. Interestingly enough the only two people in the Kingdom that Adrian feel comfortable with.

Merish and Kitar are two vastly different societies, best exemplified by how they treat their animals. Kitar, houses horses in stables and break them and feel a horse with spirit is dangerous. the Merish people let the horse go back to the wilderness when they do not need them and have to go looking for steeds (which are not limited to horses) when they are needed. Adrian is probably the best person with the animals. He can even jump from the back of one animal to another when they are running.

Magnus wants to escape Kitar and sees the conquering of Merish as his chance to strike out on his own. After Magnus's youngest brother comes back from a raid on the plains, where he is hailed by his father as a conquering hero. Magnus decides it is time to get out of Kitar and makes escape to Merish where by using Adrian as a hostage get Adrian's brothers and the general of the Merish army to work with him and train his army for what Magnus expect to be an invasion by his former country.
When the invasion comes the two armies in Merish have started becoming cohesive and handly rout the enemy forces led my Magnus's youngest brother.

THe most angst in the book is caused by Adrian Love for Magnus and his thinking there must be something wrong with him for liking the sexual activities Magnus compels him to do.

BDSM, elves, captive princes...this was quite an engaging story. The only thing I was bummed about was Adrian..we're told so many times he's a strategist, he is so clever and cunning...bullsh*t! He did nothing especially smart or strategical, and I don't see how he would be an asset to Magnus, despite all the author's assurances.

Anyway, still a nice read.

I started this book yestarday and I thought it would be way better than it is. I don't care what the author says, if a sexual scene happens without the consense of one of the people doing it,also if is a bj, it is rape. And at this point, I I'm pretty sure that one of the MC has the stockholm syndrome...

Leaving this book for the moment...to be continued one day.

This was so my kind of book! I loved Adrian and Magnus and all of the secondary characters, I'd love to read a sequel.

Для эротики вполне недурно.
Это же эротика, да? Потому что если нет и планировалось просто фэнтези, то у меня уйма претензий и двойка наготове.

I like my slave fics, but when the author tries to justify the slavery, or say the slave's master has good intentions, or that "this is the only way" type beat. I'm not on board. When the MC's siblings start to defend his master, I had to be done because that is just beyond unrealistic.

I know I'm reading a slave fic, I know this dude's gonna be a tool. I'm not here to like the man. So please dont try to justify his actions. He sucks.

Oh man, where to begin?
I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS AUTHOR WANTS TO BE AN EDITOR?!
The writing is seriously bad! If the author at least stuck to one style - but no, she keeps switching between a typical fantasy style and a really contemporary one, with weird, unfitting words like "shiteating grin" completely killing immersion.
"Your precious throne would be mine and then my inferior ass would be so comfy in it." - What?
Just no.
The keyword here is consistency. If people in this world talked in a more contemporary way or used certain phrases, totally okay, but it seems the author simply sometimes got too lazy to stick to her style and so those moments when the style suddenly changes really stick out!
The writing, in general, was simply boring, too!
"Getting someone to do something so seemingly simple..." - Now this is just terrible writing! Come on!

The characters were utterly boring and unrelatable. Changes in their feelings and relationship happen randomly, without a good reason, and also extremely sudden.
I'd love a good enemies-to-lovers story, or the trope of the bed slave who falls for his master is something I enjoy, but there's no emotion here! I want to be able to see and feel when a character's feelings change, that moment when fear or hatred changes to friendship or love... and this needs to happen gradually, not from one moment to the next.

The world was equally boring, the worldbuilding was insufficient for me - I had no idea what it was like or where everything was. There were odd details that I did not like, for example that people of one kingdom kept their animals in stables and the others would let them roam free.

The story, in general, feels like a bad rip-off of CS Pacat's Captive Prince. The author has taken some details and changed others, but it's just so obvious. A prince given to another prince as a slave. Powerplay between them, including displaying the slaves, calling them pets, having them fight each other for dominance and public sex. The evil, scheming uncle here is the father who hates his bastard son. Even a character called Daymen!
I wouldn't mind a similar story to Captive Prince since that trilogy was very entertaining and well written, but this book here just has nothing going for it... despite being raped, humiliated, abused and yelled at through-out the story, Adrian quickly falls in love and agrees to basically whatever Magnus wants from him, even including taking over his homeland, saying that he, the enemy prince, for unfathomable reasons, would be the best possible King for Adrian's kingdom.

I wanted to like this, had it on my to-read list for a long time, but it just was a huge disappointment...

Weak prince. Inconsistent M/s. Juvenile chick-with-dick characters. No relationship development between MCs. Illogical court politics. Fuzzy world building. Don't recommend.

There is nothing I can say about this book that I didn't like. I was taken away into a world of elves, the plot is very interesting and the characters just meshed. Their chemistry was perfect and beautiful. A must read if you're looking for something different.
