Well, I wanted a horror mystery, and I got one. The mystery part is pretty straightforward - the detective character is somewhat unique and reminded me of the detective in "Down Cemetary Road." The horror part is...kind of horrifying. The serial killer's interior life takes up a good chunk of the book, and it's unsettling. Stay away if you aren't a fan of stories depicting sexual violence. Thankfully, the lurid details are mostly spared. I can't say that I "liked" this book, but it did keep me reading until the end, and I learned some more Japanese "cop drama lingo," so three stars.
