Ever fallen in love with someone you shouldn't have fallen in love with?
Connor feels like a failure. After taking a break from his Ivy League college to work a sales job in California, he is home to fulfil a promise to his old junior hockey coach. Like he doesn't have enough problems, a guy he's known all his life as his sister's adorkable best friend has become hot overnight and he's about to be stuck with him for the entire summer break.
Elliot has had a crush on his best friend's older brother for as long as he can remember. He had his gay awakening to the sight of Connor Ryan standing in the laundry room in his underwear for god's sake! Good job he's used to ignoring his straight guy crush. Plus, if Scout discovered that his childish crush still stood, the friendship would be ruined.
This is book four in the Ivy League Players series; a series of books set at a different college with a new set of characters in each story. Each book can be read in any order and as a standalone.
Best friend's brother, nerd/jock, hockey coaching, forbidden love, forced proximity and childhood crushes come to life.
When I'm not trying to invent the perfect book boyfriend, I'm studying towards a graduate degree in Modern History, trying to little avail to get better at drawing and watching You've Got Mail for the millionth time!
I write spicy MM romance with special emphasis on sports, small towns and childhood sweethearts.
I love romance books with spicy scenes that don't feel detached from the couple's relationship dynamics, and when our protagonists respect and root for each other.
This is a good 3 stars. It wasn’t revolutionary enough to get 4 stars, but it was a good simple read. The whole sibling’s best friend trope is kind of silly in my opinion. The relationship and spice was pretty good though. Cute!
such a solid book in a very solid standalone series! i loved the growing connection between elliot and connor and seeing them fight their true feelings in an effort to keep it “casual”. while i was right there with elliot being anxious about scout not knowing and feeling betrayed, i always feel like it’s so much better to just let them know, but that being said i think the revelation about their feelings was done super well and i just loved how scout and connor’s family always embraced elliot. i also think the storyline with elliot’s father and grief/depression was beautiful and added to the depth of the story, especially with it being such a short book.
This book made me ache, long to comfort, laugh, groan, grin, and fall in love with a wonderful set of characters like I've been waiting for them the whole time.
Each book she writes easily slides into my comfort read pile upon completion. And I'll treasure each re-read as much as i do revisiting old friends.
*Ebook enjoyed in ARC format, but paperback purchased with my own money. Cuz, book trophies.
This trope is dumb and i couldn't get over how the fact that he was his sister friend was the biggest problem of the world and i get that they're young or whatever but still
This would've been better if it focused on the grief of Elliot's dad and Connor's self esteem, but we got a whole lot of problems that were treated superficially and basically no chemistry development
So it's a cliché nothing burguer that i didn't mind reading
I’m really disappointed because I have really enjoyed every book in this series so far but this one fell flat for me didn’t really care for any characters main or otherwise and even the storyline… it took me forever but I finished it.
Absolutely loved this! The characters were well developed and easy to connect with, love how the relationships evolved throughout the book. Would definitely recommend!
I freaking love this book!! It was so good. it’s definitely tied with unlovable player as my favorite from whole series.
This was the perfect story to end an amazing series. It was sweet but while the story does deal with some heavy elements still has that lightness that perfectly balances the story. The characters were amazing Connor was such great character I identify with him a lot, sometimes we have our future mapped out that is hard to comprehend that while we may faced some bumps in our journey it doesn’t mean we have to give up,I’m happy he learned to let go of that mindset in the end. And Elliot was equally as amazing , they way he was also dealing with his grief, his father’s grief and also finally having the attention of your crush but being scared to loose one of the most important person because of it, oh my poor Eli he deserved all the happiness and I’m glad he had it. Overall this was such a good story I was hooked from the beginning and couldn’t put it down, it was also bittersweet because it’s the last one of the series so it definitely makes it an unforgettable one.
I would like to add another trope that should have been added is he fell first but he fell harder because my dear Connor was down bad for Eli. And also the spice was delicious In this one, 100% recommend. Can’t wait for what else Emmery has in store next!!
