Superbugs, Prions and Plagues

Rate this book
Antibiotics were once considered to be a miracle cure. In their time they saved many millions of lives and prevented epidemics which would normally have decimated humanity. But these miracle cures have brought a new plague upon superbugs such as drug-resistant C difficile and MRSA. We now face a return to the dark ages in a post-antibiotic era. Fungi are also becoming drug resistant. This short book takes a look at these problems as well as addressing other issues such a prions and the current Ebola crisis. There is a list of pertinent references.

slim

Although interesting the book is slim and alarmist at best. As a healthcare professional this was an opportunity to provide more education to the public and the opportunity was lost.
