The third book in this series, Book 3 is a good continuation of the story, building upon the themes already expressed and carrying the story forward.  This is a good thing to experience in a sequel.  

Alexy goes deeper into his commitment to the goddess of healers.  With this come more stringent restrictions and guidewires but these appear to be something that is worth it to Alexy.  We also learn what the basis of the curse on his house is based upon, and it’s something worth applauding.  Alexy also can’t hold to the detente with the new local gangleader and things there come to a head. 

In all it’s a good continuation from the last book.  Nothing new or monumental but enjoyable.  It digs deeper into some new medical problems so that newness is there.  We learn a bit more about magic and how it works.  If you enjoyed the first two, you’ll likely enjoy this one. .

would’ve been five stars again, but cliffhanger

Once again, the books in the series are well written, absorbing, and I want to keep reading. However, they all end in a rather abrupt cliffhanger.

Holy smokes. Great addition to the series. The cliff hanger! I can't believe that jerk stole his inventions and patented them. Wow. That really makes me mad. Who is Ivan Mikhailovich Sechenov? In the first book two auditors came and the only thing they wanted was his inventions. He let them walk off with them. I figured it would eventually come back to bite him.
If I was Alexey I would create everything I could think of and patent it now. Really he is surrounded by vultures waiting to steal his ideas.

While the world building stays almost nonexistent and there is hardly action the plot is entertaining enough for people who are no medicine enthusiasts..
