I had the chance to read an advance copy of Friend Zone Strikeout, and it pulled me in faster than I expected. The chemistry between the leads hits right away — the kind of spark that makes you grin because you know things are about to get complicated in the best way. Their early interactions were easily some of my favorite moments, full of charm and that soft, slow-burn tension that keeps you turning pages.
The story does move quickly at the beginning, and there were times I wished certain relationships or side characters had been explored a bit more deeply. With so many people woven into the plot, I occasionally found myself wanting a little more grounding in who everyone was and how they connected. And with baseball being such a big part of the title and the characters’ lives, I expected the sports angle to play a slightly bigger role.
Even so, the emotional push-and-pull, the messy feelings, and the “are we really doing this?” energy made this such a fun read. It’s heartfelt, chaotic in a relatable way, and sets up the next book beautifully. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing where the story goes from here.
If you enjoy friends-to-lovers with a dash of drama, stubborn hearts, and a whole lot of tension, this one deserves a spot on your TBR.

Friend Zone Strikeout was such an entertaining and heartwarming romance that completely pulled me in from the start. The opening is pure craziness in the best way. The wedding has gone completely off the rails, leaving Nate and Nora unexpectedly thrown together. What follows is an adorable and unlikely bond that begins during a shared honeymoon stay and slowly turns into something much deeper.
Even though there’s an undeniable spark between them right away, Nora tries to keep things safely in the friend zone. Nate with his sweet self is patient and persistent, showing up for her again and again without ever making it feel overwhelming. Watching their connection grow felt authentic, especially as Nora faces some heavier real life responsibilities that add emotional depth to the story.
Nate is seriously swoon-worthy, kind, dependable, and hard not to love. His son Owen completely steals the spotlight at times. He is such a cute addition that brings even more love to the story.
With just the right mix of humor and emotion, this book was an awesome read.

“Friend Zone Strikeout” is the first book in “Off Base Series.” This heartwarming and entertaining sports romance story that grabs your attention from the start. Nate is a professional baseball player with the Harlow Falcons. He is left standing at the alter when his bride to be, Celeste, sprints from the wedding with one of the guests. Nora, Heath’s girlfriend is standing there totally bewildered. Nate and Nora are both in shock as the wedding guests are applauding….

Friend Zone Strikeout by Kate Arden was such a fun and addictive romance read! It had everything I love in a rom-com great chemistry, witty banter, emotional moments, and characters that were impossible not to root for. From the very beginning, Nate and Nora pulled me into their story, and I was completely invested in watching their relationship unfold.
Nate was such a lovable character. He has that charming, confident energy, but underneath it there’s a genuinely caring and loyal side that made him even more appealing. I loved how his feelings for Nora slowly started showing through the teasing and friendship moments. His emotional growth throughout the story made the romance feel even more meaningful, and he definitely had plenty of swoon-worthy moments.
Nora was equally easy to love because she felt relatable and grounded. She’s independent, funny, and emotionally guarded in a way that made her journey feel realistic. Watching her navigate her feelings for Nate while trying to protect her heart added so much tension to the story. I especially loved how strong their friendship foundation was before the romance fully took off it made every emotional moment hit even harder.
Together, Nate and Nora had amazing chemistry, and their banter was one of my favorite parts of the book. The balance between humor and heartfelt emotion kept the story engaging from start to finish. Every interaction between them felt natural, making it impossible not to cheer for them.

Friend Zone Strikeout was such a fun start to a new series, and that opening hooked me immediately. The drama had me completely invested, and I desperately needed to know what had happened and where these characters were going next.
Nora and Nate first cross paths in the aftermath of a wedding that goes spectacularly wrong, leaving them both unexpectedly picking up the pieces. Forced into sharing the honeymoon suite thanks to a fully booked hotel, the attraction between them is undeniable. But rather than rushing into anything, they decide that what they really need is each other’s friendship first and I loved that choice.
I absolutely loved watching that friendship develop. The yearning simmering beneath the surface made every sweet moment even better, and Nate constantly showing up for Nora had me swooning.
I also really enjoyed meeting Nate’s teammates. There was enough of the found family dynamic to get me invested, although I would have happily taken even more of them.
The story also explores some heavier emotions with Nora’s sister’s grief and Nora being a caretaker, adding depth alongside the romance.
This book packs in so many tropes I love - close proximity, friends to lovers, fake dating, single dad, and only one bed - and they all worked together really well without feeling overdone.
Most of all, I’m glad they found their endgame. Their journey felt well earned, and I’m already intrigued to see where the next book takes the rest of the cast.

Nate and Nora’s story starts with heartbreak. What should have been the happiest day of Nate’s life turns into a wedding disaster that changes everything for bith Nate and wedding guest Nora. But from that heartbreak comes one of the sweetest, most supportive relationships.
When Nora’s brother-in-law passes away, she steps in to help her sister, niece, and nephew through an unimaginable loss. Through it all, Nate is there. He becomes her biggest supporter, her best friend, and the steady presence she didn’t know she needed, even though he’s hoping for something more.
This slow burn completely stole my heart. You can feel Nora’s grief, the weight her family is carrying, and the quiet, unwavering way Nate shows up for them over and over again. He proves that love isn’t always about grand gestures, sometimes it’s just about being there when someone needs you most, and haven’t we all needed that a some point in our lives?

This was such a fun read! I didn’t want it to end! The story starts off with total chaos when Nate is left at the altar, and Nora’s longtime boyfriend dramatically confesses his love and runs off with the bride. What follows is the most unexpected and sweet connection between Nate and Nora when they end up sharing the honeymoon suite. Their chemistry is instant, but Nora puts Nate in the friend zone. Nate is clearly not giving up though he makes time for her even with his busy schedule with baseball. I loved that he plays the long game without it feeling forced. Their relationship develops in a really natural, heartwarming way, especially once real life hits and Nora has to step up for her family. Nate completely stole my heart! He is a top-tier book boyfriend material. Owen, His son, Absolutely adorable. I loved getting more of him in the added chapter it made the story feel even more complete. If you love friends-to-lovers with an instant spark, and a genuinely lovable cast of characters, this one is definitely worth a read. I can’t wait for the next book, I hope we see more of Nate and Nora and excited about the next couple!

This is the first baseball sports romance I have ever read, however it probably won't be the last. Normally I read sports romances about Hockey og Football, but once I started 'Friend Zone Strikeout' by Kate Arden I couldn't put it down!
Personally I loved just about everything in this book, from the writing, the plot and to the Story and character building between Nora and Nate. As a reader I love to feel the emotions and the tension between the main characters, and this book didn't disappoint! I could feel everything from their shared fear of rejection to the undeniable love between them.
In 'Friend Zone Strikeout' you will experience a connection between two complete strangers, how they help each other heal and find love again after both Nora and Nate have been hurt and betrayed by their ex's. I don't want to spoil the book, but if I had to pick a favorite qoute it would be when one of the main characters holds up a sign that says:
"I'M NOT YOUR REBOUND. I'M YOUR ENDGAME!"
This is my honest review of 'Friend Zone Strikeout', but I want to say thank you to Kate Arden for the amazing opportunity to read this novel before publishing.

4.5/5 overall. 5/5 for the storyline!! LOVE Nora and Nate!!! I love all the characters actually. Even the ones I don’t like their personalities and what they did. This story has the perfect amount of spice to show the connections and be comfortable for people who don’t like that too. I truly loved this book. BUT I wanted more details throughout much of it. Having said that, there are enough details for the story. I didn’t feel I was missing the important things that kept me in the loop of what was happening. But I wanted more info throughout, so I had to delete a little cuz I felt like we were flying over important details that would have been beneficial to the character building. I also was hoping for a bit more baseball at the end that was redeemed a bit though. Overall a definite yes for my recommendation and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

This was such a fun read. The wedding drama at the start hooked me straight away, and I really enjoyed how Nate and Nora’s relationship developed from there. Their chemistry was really good, and the banter between them made the book hard to put down.
Nate was definitely my favorite part of the story. He was sweet, patient, and honestly just really easy to love. I liked that even when Nora kept trying to keep him in the friend zone, he still showed up for her without being pushy. Their relationship felt natural, and I liked that they actually built a friendship first.

Nate, a sensitive and respectful man, the perfect friend and perfect lover. Nora, a devoted woman who puts herself last. I loved the chemistry and friendship between the two. Something I also really appreciate is that there was never a moment where their connection was denied. I always find it a bit unrealistic when characters are clearly attracted to each other, sometimes even expressing it verbally, yet they continue to think the other isn’t really into them. Here, it’s clear, and it’s fear that gets in the way, which makes their story even more adorable and real.

I absolutely loved Nora and Nate’s story — wow! 😍 The very first chapter brought the drama and had me instantly hooked. Within the first eight chapters, I was both laughing and crying.
Nora and Nate are both dumped by their partners at Nate’s wedding. I mean… talk about starting with maximum drama right out of the gate! I loved every second of it.
There’s an instant connection between them, but this is very much a friends-to-lovers story filled with slow-burn tension and build-up. Trust me, the wait is absolutely worth it.
I also have a newfound love for stickers and confetti now 🤣🎉 You’ll understand once you read it!
If you’re looking for a shorter read that still feels complete, emotional, and full of heart, this is definitely one to pick up ✨

Nora and Nate are both dumped by their partners at Nate’s wedding. I mean… talk about starting with maximum drama right out of the gate! I loved every second of it.
There’s an instant connection between them, but this is very much a friends-to-lovers story filled with slow-burn tension and build-up. Trust me, the wait is absolutely worth it.
I also have a newfound love for stickers and confetti now 🤣🎉 You’ll understand once you read it!
If you’re looking for a shorter read that still feels complete, emotional, and full of heart, this is definitely one to pick up ✨

Nate and Nora hooked me from the start. Kate Arden wrote quite possibly, the best of the worst days ever kind of meet cute! This story started off like gangbusters and I couldn't stop reading. I loved their chemisty, loved the writing, the banter. The side characters are intriguing and I can't wait for their stories. The middle got a little slow, even though it was Nate being a total golden retriever and really doing the work. I really would have liked to see a little more yearning, maybe some stolen moments there to really draw out the drama and angst. I am a huge sports fan and really would have loved to see a little more sports in the romance as well, but once that third act bomb droppped the story picked right back up and finished with a well hit triple, lol.
This was engaging, easy to read, and leaves you wanting for the next story!

Came to this book ‘cause I’ve received an ARC of the second book, so, couldn’t just start from 2… in my mind, we begin with number 1! 😅
This book is great, deep meanings, hard conversations and a lot of playing nice, if I’m totally honest.
A man and a woman are left at the man’s wedding ceremony and the bride asks for the honeymoon suit to be with her lover?! C’mom… are you even for real?! You leave your fiance, which you convinced to marry you without planning, then a guys protests and you leave the ceremony with him only to go back later and ask the room to be with this guy?! And worst, he was going to give it to her.
Sorry… so infuriating! 🤣
Just thought the characters were too nice and pushovers. The book is great, the main characters not so much!🤣
Still recommend it because the writing is very good and it is the first book and the second has characters that worked better for me!

Oh my gosh, this was so cute, and I loved it! I was laughing out loud at the sprinkles of comedy in this (pun intended), like the sticker revenge and the whip cream sprinkle idea of Owen's. Nora and Nate are so sweet! I usually read things with more spice, but this was the sweetest love story from strangers, to best friends, to finally becoming a couple. Nate is so patient with Nora, even though he knows it's not a rebound the entire time and gives her the time to make that call once she is ready. I had myself saying "noooooo" when the conflict happened at 80% in - IYKYK.
I only wish there was more! More spice, more of the story after they finally make it official, how Owen reacted and how their separate lives become one - maybe we will see more of them in the next installment. This was 4.5⭐ for me!
Overall, I loved this and cannot wait for more of the story with Audrey and Asher. Who knew!? I started to think something might be there when they first met, but he is a little over the top, and it clearly wasn't the right time, but once Declan and Audrey started talking and had that commonality with being widows, I was tricked into thinking they might be next. I'm excited to see how that developed between Asher and Audrey!

I devoured this book! This book has some of my favorite tropes single dad and sports romance and I must say this book did not disappoint. Nate is a single and he’s a baseball player, he’s also very respectful and he’s kind of sensitive. Nora and Nate meet during a horrible time and that leads them into becoming friends. Their connection and chemistry was inevitable. I love how Nate is there for Nora and her sister Audrey during a very difficult time. Nate is perfect best friend and perfect lover. This book is gonna be added to my favorite truth and it’s definitely a must read and I highly recommend it. Thank you, Kate and Booksprout for this arc.

What a great story! Started out with a tragedy, incorporated a little comedy, and ended in a happily ever after. Nate wasn’t supposed to be with Nora. Nora wasn’t supposed to be with Nate. What happened at the first wedding didn’t compare to what happened at the second wedding. Throw in a wacky scene of revenge re-decorating a house and you have this wonderful book that takes friends to lovers to a whole new level. Highly recommend reading it for yourself.

This is a great fast paced read. I was hooked from the beginning with two people being dumped in a situation that NO ONE wants to be found in. They make the most of the situation and something happens during their initial time together. The saying right person, wrong time, is a large factor of this story.
Nate is a man who knows what he wants and is going to continue to show up and be there in all the small ways that matter. Will she ever be able to see that there is so much more he could bring to her life if she just took the chance?
Trust me, this book did not disappoint!

Very quick read!!
Made me laugh out loud on occasions. I wish the author would have went into details on the subjects that they talked about the first night where they opened up. Instead it was just told that they opened up to one another life they never had before with anyone else but hey, I mean, I guess it worked cause I read all of it and could have read it all in one day Had I not picked it up in the middle of the day

I was thrilled to dive into an early copy of Friend Zone Strikeout. From chapter one, I was hooked and rooting for Nora and Nate to find their 'happily ever after.' Their interactions at the wedding were easily my favorite part of the book—sweet, charming, and perfectly written.
While I enjoyed the ride, a few things held me back from a full 5-star rating. The romance felt a little rushed at the start, making their instant connection feel slightly unrealistic. I also found myself wanting more clarity on some of the side characters and a deeper dive into the sports subplot; considering the title, I expected the athletics to take center stage a bit more than they did.
Even with those minor hurdles, it’s a lovely addition to the friends-to-lovers genre. If you’re looking for a cozy, lighthearted romance for your weekend TBR, this is definitely worth the read!

This book pulled me in right from the start. It was a a quick read full of emotions, angst, charm, and great characters.
Nate & Nora are sure put through the ringer in this book. But they come out the other side. I really loved how this book played out. I enjoyed the other characters, and am interested in the next book in the series.

This was such a fun read! I was hooked from the very beginning and couldn’t put the book down. The chemistry was solid and the friends-to-lovers tension kept me invested the whole way through. It had the perfect balance of sweet moments and humor with just a hint of spice. I hope we get a little more of Nate and Nora in the next book and I can't wait to read Asher and Audrey's story!

I thought it was a really good story, and I enjoyed it. There were some spots that could have used more depth to them, and some spots that were unnecessary information in my opinion. So it made it hard for me to really connect with the story. I'd definitely encourage others to read it for themselves.

Friend zone Strike out by Kate Arden. Book one of the Off Base Series. This was a very cute a fun sports romance. Definitely a slow burn and spice is light. The story is heartwarming and definitely pulled a lot of emotions out of me. It’s a quick read but I rather enjoyed it. Definitely looking forward to book two. If you like a good story and with a baseball twist you should check this one out.
