Overall, I liked this story but there were a few tiny things that kept me from loving it. None of my issues were deal breakers and they aren't going to keep me from checking out the second book.
For me, when I read a Mafia dark romance...I prefer it to be spicy hot and this was warm. Another main issue I had, was some of the verbiage was cringe.... Example being the term corn dog to reference male genitalia. And it happened one too many times for me. Lastly, I just felt that the plot needed to be tightened up a bit, especially in the second half of the story.
I know it seems like I am complaining about a lot of things but there were still things I loved about this story. I adored Tara/Daisy/Bubbles. She was so quirky and fun. And honestly Kennon wasn't half bad himself. This story has great banter and I love a romantic comedy. While this story wasn't as spicy as I would have liked, it was dripping with profanity, I'm cool with it, others might not be. I also loved the contrast between the Mafia family and the tattoo parlor found family. Lastly, this book has some really sweet and lovely moments too that added a little extra depth to the story and characters, I really appreciated that

When your best friend gets dumped by her jerk of a boyfriend, what’s a girl to do? If you’re Tara (aka Daisy), you plan a little revenge to teach the asshole a lesson. Sounds perfectly reasonable, right? Well, it would have been, if she hadn’t accidentally kidnapped the wrong brother. And not just any brother, but a member of the Irish mob. Oops! 😏 Tara is foul-mouthed, sassy, gloriously chaotic, and takes absolutely zero shit from anyone. Despite their rather unconventional meet-cute (because nothing says “Hi, nice to meet you” quite like a taser), Kennon Reid isn’t furious, he’s in love! And honestly, who can blame him? This woman is a walking disaster in the most entertaining way possible! Once Tara realizes she’s kidnapped the wrong guy, she does what any sensible person would do: she runs for the hills. But Kennon isn’t the kind of man who lets a woman who’s caught his attention simply disappear. He’s a man who knows what he wants and goes after it with the determination you’d expect from a mafia prince. He’s patient, persistent, and absolutely determined to win Tara over. Unfortunately for him, winning Tara’s heart is considerably harder than he thought. This girl is not going down without a fight! And that’s part of what makes these two so much fun. Kennon might be a mafia prince, but Tara is a law unto herself, and watching him try to keep up with her is pure entertainment. Their banter is fantastic, the chemistry is undeniable, and Tara’s comebacks? Chef’s kiss! This woman could probably start an argument with a brick wall and somehow still have the last word. 😂 However, beneath Tara’s chaotic, badass exterior, lies a woman who struggles to believe she’s worthy of love. And that adds a layer of vulnerability to her otherwise larger-than-life personality. So, while the chemistry is there, things take a little time to heat up, with Tara making Kennon work for every inch of progress. And boy, does she make him earn it! Of course, this isn’t just a romance. We also have enemies, family, revenge, and enough drama to keep everyone on their toes. There’s never a dull moment, and just when you think things might settle down, something else comes along to stir the pot again. My absolute favorite parts were undoubtedly the humor and the banter, along with Tara’s wonderfully unhinged personality. Kennon might be a man accustomed to getting his own way, but Tara is clearly going to keep him hopping. The book has an open ending—not exactly a cliffhanger, but enough to make it clear that we haven’t seen the last of these characters. And honestly? I couldn’t be happier! There’s more to come, and I’m already looking forward to it. Although, I do have one tiny concern: if Tara managed to get herself into THIS much trouble by kidnapping the wrong man, what on earth is she going to do next? At this point, Kennon might want to invest in a taser-proof vest, a very large bottle of aspirin, and possibly a lifetime supply of patience. Because loving Tara is clearly going to be one hell of a ride, and given Tara’s talent for getting herself into trouble, I can only imagine what kind of spectacular disaster she’ll unleash next. Someone might want to warn Kennon that keeping this woman out of trouble could turn out to be the most dangerous job he’s ever had! 😂

Tara, aka Daisy, is a bubblegum-blowing tattoo artist with a penchant for sweets, chaos and tasers.
When Tara’s best friend Jordan gets jilted by her ex-boyfriend, what’s a BFF supposed to do? Kidnap him, of course! Unfortunately, with no name and only a quick glance at a photo, it was pretty much inevitable that Tara was going to kidnap the wrong man.
Enter Kennon Reid, a member of an Irish mob family. He thinks he’s about to get lucky, only to wake up hog-tied in a shed, being held captive by a feisty girl who promptly tases him.
And somehow… Kennon is instantly smitten.
Determined to find his mystery girl, Kennon goes all in when it comes to wooing Tara. Unfortunately for him, she does not make it easy. Tara is fiercely independent after aging out of the foster care system, and she lives her life as though she could pack up and disappear at any moment. Beneath her chaotic and badass exterior, you can see that she struggles with feeling worthy of love.
I really enjoyed the slow-burn romance between Tara and Kennon. It takes a while for things to really heat up, and Tara definitely makes Kennon work for it. The romance is mixed with a turf war, arranged marriages, revenge and plenty of chaos, so there was never a dull moment.
My favourite parts was the banter, quirky side characters and Tara’s completely chaotic personality. She is such a fun FMC to read, and I loved watching Kennon try to keep up with her.
I will say, the ending felt quite abrupt for me and left me wanting MORE. There are so many unanswered questions heading into book two, and I am absolutely intrigued.
Will Tara finally realise that she deserves to be loved? How is she such a badass? And, most importantly, what is her backstory?! I need answers!
If you love slow burn, mistaken identity, revenge plots, Irish mafia, emotional damage, arranged marriages and a bubblegum-blowing, tattooed FMC who carries a taser, then you definitely need to add Bubblegum Alibis to your TBR!

Kennon is immediately smitten with Tara, but Tara is like a wounded animal who has never really felt love. Could he show her what he feels for her, and could Tara learn to reciprocate those feelings?
This was a dark romantic comedy with a mafia MMC and a quirky, feisty FMC. The story is told in dual POV and is mostly entertaining, with a bit of suspense mixed in. There is quite a lot of profanity and a few sentimental moments that add some emotion to the story.
The characters are amazing and so different from each other. Kennon is a man who goes after what he wants in true mafia style, but he also has a romantic side. Tara is a woman who would fight for the people she loves, but she is also easily scared and tends to run away.
I loved how everyone seemed to like Tara immediately and genuinely cared about her. My favorite part was when she fought the bad guys. It showed another side of her and was one of the most entertaining moments for me.

Loved this.
Tara, aka Daisy, is absolutely unhinged. Especially when it comes to protecting her people! When her best friend gets her heart broken, she kidnaps the man who broke it. Except the man she kidnapped ISN’T her best friend’s ex boyfriend.
Tara is foul mouthed, full of sass, and she doesn’t take anybody’s shit. Not even the son of the Irish Mafia boss who runs the town. But what she really doesn’t do is let herself get close to anyone, because everyone leaves her in the end. At least that’s what growing up as a foster child has taught her.
Kennen is the mistaken kidnap victim. And instead of
being furious about being kidnapped, he’s enamored by Tara. The fact that she doesn’t even know who he is, or who she was trying to kidnap makes it even better for him.
This book was full of laughs. Every single character has quirks that make them stand out, lovable and memorable. There are no side characters as every single character has something that they somehow contribute in importance to the story that is Bubbles and Kennen.
The cliffhanger at the end has me begging for book 2 because I need to know what happens with Tara and Kennen and Liam and Jordan.

I received this book as an ARC and these are my personal opinions.
This was entertaining and funny but it just wasn’t for me. The FMC was unhinged and crazy but super immature and whiney which I found very annoying. The main characters never really got together either it just ended. They had an explosive sexual moment that would have been a break in their tension but it completely skips the events. She seems like she would be a brat in bed, and all their conflict and angst would have led to some heated spice!
The pacing and flow of this book was all over the place and the ending was abrupt with so much not addressed. There was no resolution with the bestie and no depth with the relationship with K, no falling for each other- if anything she was still very resistant to being with him for some unknown reason. We never get the full backstory of really anyone. This was funny, I was giggling in some places and finished it all, but the first half was way better.
This is my personal opinion, I just didn’t enjoy this type of humor but maybe you will! Thank you for letting me read this early!

This was such a fun dark rom-com. It's a light-hearted, easy read with top tier banter between all the characters and just enough emotional trauma.
I love a man obsessed, and Kennon is a total simp for our main lady, Tara, aka Daisy, aka Bubbles. Yes, he totally falls first and so hard. I love Tara so much she is such a BA and loyal to a fault but also a hot mess express. Her inner monologue had me laughing out loud.
Their most unconventional meet-cute was fun and entertaining, to say the least. Kennon is relentless in his pursuit of his bubbles, and she is not easy to catch. Their slow-burn build-up had me giggling like a school girl. There's a lot of sexy talk, but not much action in this book bc Tara is a lady like that, and she is not going to make it easy for Ken.

A supposedly harmless revenge plot, a kidnapping plan, and somehow it all ends with the WRONG MAN. And not just any man , but the son of an Irish crime boss. Because apparently, a little harmless revenge was too much to ask without accidentally ruining your whole life. 😂
Tara/Daisy was a highlight for me. I loved her sass, foul mouth, and chaotic personality, but also the vulnerability beneath it all.
I genuinely enjoyed the characters and their banter. BUT… the relationship dragged on for me, only for things to feel a little rushed once Tara and Kennon finally got together. After all the build-up I wanted MORE. More chemistry, more steam, more payoff. Give me the tension AND the reward, please. 🥵
Overall. This was an okay read for me. The characters brought plenty of personality, and the banter gave me some genuinely funny moments. I just wish the romance had delivered that extra spark to seal the deal.

This was such a fun mix of dark humor, mafia romance, suspense and a whole lot of chaos!
I really enjoyed the premise of this story and the author’s writing. Tara’s personality and her questionable decisions definitely made things entertaining. And the banter between her and Kennon was one of my favorite parts. I loved how the author mixed the humor with the darker side of the story without taking away from the suspense. Between the secrets, tension, chemistry and wondering what these two were going to get themselves into next, there was plenty to keep me turning the pages.

Tara is a protective FMC who takes no bullsh!t from anybody. Think the most B@DAS$ type of character, and there she is.
The MMC Kennon is funny, bold & part of a VERY powerful family, and he too does not take sh!t from anyone.
Put the two main characters together, with all the side characters & you're guaranteed to laugh out loud while reading this book. 🤣

There is nothing like a kidnapping to get revenge on the man who broke her best friend's heart but end up with the wrong man. Tara takes Kennon by mistake and ties him up in a shed and promptly taze him. Kennon had no idea this was going to happen and thought he was about to get something started. After the mix up was corrected, Kennon found Tara and he decided to pursue her. She didn't make it easy for him, and he had to work to break down the walls Tara erected. His ties to a mafia family definitely added a little danger and excitement to the story. This was definitely a slow burn romance that was entertaining, fun, and lots of wit and banter. The side characters were something else I enjoyed reading about them to. Because this book ended on a cliffhanger, I can't wait to see what comes next. It was definitely worth reading.

This is the first book I've read by this author. I picked it up through an ARC; the blurb looked good and seemed funny, so I decided to give it a read. It definitely is funny in parts. But I found that the storyline dragged out Tara and Kennon's relationship. Then, when they finally get together, it's glossed over quickly. I expected a bit more oomph, a bit more steam, something to justify the build-up. The thing is, I liked Tara/Daisy. I like her sass and her mouth, but also her vulnerability because of her past. That sass caught Kennon's eye, and if she was ever going to become his queen, he needed someone strong, someone who would stand by him.
Overall, it was an okay read; it worked in some areas but fell short in others.

When I read the authors note at the start I was quite excited but unfortunately it just didn’t do it for me.
It started well with the kidnapping, which was quite amusing , but then just fizzled out.
The majority of the book is the characters swearing at each other and everyone in the parlour having two names just confused me.The banter between characters was funny in parts.
When the fmc and mmc finally get together it is just skipped over, considering it was the main focus of the book I couldn’t understand it, more could have been made of that.
The way it abruptly ended I’m assuming there is another book coming.

Ok this book is fast paced and chaotic...like a squirrel on caffeine..or in this case maybe a raccoon 🤔 this is closed door and a slow burn but HIGH sexual tension the entire time. The MCs and side characters are hilarious and Daisy/Tara 95% of the time says the inside thoughts out loud. The book ends on a cliffhanger that isn't smack in your face and will leave you questioning yourself and the book but that's what Daisy does....she charges in and makes her chaotic presence known then disappears. I'm going to need book 2 asap!

It is a slow burn, high sexual tension, and has closed door scenes. All of the main characters as well as the side ones are super funny. They make the book interesting and have you not wanting to put it down. It does end with a cliffhanger and will leave you questioning Every. Single. Thing. Like, the way I NEED book 2, NOW!!

Daisy was hilarious !! Kennon needs to grow a pair and Liam and Jordan just might be a lost cause ! I detest cliffhangers! So if you expect a nice tidy wrap up, we don’t get one, so I guess we are waiting for book 2, to see what happens to “Bubbles” after Kennon grabs her. This book was snarky and filled with multiple taser attacks, so beware ! But so worth reading, I can’t wait for the next book ! 5✨’s !

Bubblegum Alibis by Martha Sweeney had me hooked from the wrong-kidnapping setup alone. Tara is chaotic, fiercely protective, and impossible to forget, while Kennon has the patience to keep chasing her despite every wall she puts up. Their banter is the standout, with mafia danger, slow-burn tension, and genuinely funny moments keeping things moving. That ending caught me off guard and left me wanting more.

I quite enjoyed this story. I loved most of the characters especially Tara-who was just hilarious!
This was my first book by this author but once I started, I couldn't stop.
The only problems I had with the story was in the beginning I did have a lil trouble keeping everyone straight with the nicknames and everything and the ending. In no way was the ending bad or not HEA, but it also almost ended so abruptly, I couldn't believe it; almost like hitting a brick wall.

The pre release copy is amazing I can’t wait to read the finished product. The cliffhanger left me with my mouth open and jonesing to read the rest. Will definitely be buying it when it’s released. The story line is great and keeps you reading. Can’t wait to see what happens with Kennon and Bubbles. She is such a bad a$$ chic. I love the fact that she is herself and says to hell with anyone who doesn’t like her. She is definitely a bad Bitch.

Loved the book, i loved the banter which had me laughing a lot. I liked the main characters too although Tara gave me whiplash as her personality seemed to shift from one extreme to another. The book sucked me in immediately and kept me engrossed in the story right till the end. I would have liked more spice but im still really looking forward to the next book.

Can I give more than 5 stars? Seriously. I need more. I need more of every character. I hope this turns into a bigger series. I was hooked from the intro. Literally did not put this down from the second I picked it up. Not a single dull moment or point where I lost interest. I was a little disappointed in the end as I said I want more! lol.

This book was a wild ride. Tara and Kennon’s relationship had all the makings for a great one. Unfortunately it felt rushed and so much was left out. The pacing was a bit rushed at times and slow in other. The book ended abruptly, maybe leaving the door open for more in this world?

This was so much fun. I had a great time with Tara and her kidnapping the wrong man. Her antics were hilarious. I loved this one. I loved the back and forth and all of the chaos that ensued. This was a really great read and I can’t wait for the next one.

This was fun and wild ride but could also be very cringe. I love unhinged but sometimes it felt a bit forced and a little OTT. beyond that loved the plot itself the mmc sure met his match with Tara. If you love goofy fmcs with a kinda cringe yet strong personality you’d love this story truly.
