Korean Title : 작전명 순정 English Title : True Love
■ Plot
It’s hard dating someone who won’t give you the time of day. Su-ae Shim knows that better than anyone, having dated her indifferent boyfriend, Minu Kang, for years. She sometimes wishes she could be more like her charismatic stepsister, Ra-im, who seems to have it all. But life takes a turn for the weird when Su-ae discovers Jellypop, a sentient flip phone, in her locker. Jellypop has a lot to say about her love life, especially as Su-ae drifts further away from Minu and finds herself running into Minu’s friend, Eunhyeok. Add to the mix a growing suspicion that Minu and Ra-im might be more than friends, and Su-ae might need a miracle to navigate the ups and downs of high school romance!
This picks up right where Vol. 1 left off, and the artwork is still amazing! However, I wanted to send the love points system straight into the abyss along with Raim. Like, how could you do that to someone who... (go read the manhwa, please 😭). And then there's that ONE particular part that made me scream, “WHAT NOOOOO!” I'm still debating whether Eunhyuk is genuinely falling for Suae or if we're heading towards a love triangle. 🤔 And ANOTHER cliffhanger? Andwaeeeeee! I need Vol. 3 NOW! 😭
If you enjoy YA coming-of-age comic with a touch of the supernatural, you need to add this series to your TBR!
Quick Summary: A dun-dun-DUN! Game-on T/YA romantic drama in graphic novel form
My Review: Operation: True Love, Vol. 2 written by kkokkalee and illustrated by Dledumb is a WEBTOON graphic novel. This volume contains episodes 13-26 of the popular comic series. It is categorized as “Children's Nonfiction, Comics, Graphic Novels, Manga, Teens & YA.” The digital edition will be released in English on 1/25/27.
About the Book: “…Su-ae…discovers a sentient flip phone in her locker.
Jellypop [her flip phone] has a lot to say about Su-ae’s love life.”
About the Hook: “High school romances are never easy…”
In My Own Words: A secret that is not a secret hits the next level of misunderstanding by way of a love triangle in the making, a new stranger, and a plan for a love point haul.
About the Characters: The entire cast of characters continue to reveal themselves in this book.
😍 - Su-ae -> Sweet, insecure, learning as she goes, has magnetic charm that she is not even aware of just yet, opening eyes to Jellypop. (Think zero to hero star power online and you’ll feel the love. Tehehe)
🤨 - Minu (The Ex) -> Gives off player energy…and not in a good way, wants his cake plus the pie and whipped cream alongside it
😝 - Ra-im -> Antagonistic vibe, masked intentions, gives off a manipulative charge then tries to cover it with counterfeit concern, she knows what she’s doing
🤩 - Dohwa -> The verdict is still out on what’s going on with this idol trainee. He has his own brand of charm and I am all about finding out. Wahoo!
😌 - Eunhyeok -> Good guy, trying to read the room, beginning to feel the feels, not clear on what’s what just yet concerning Su-ae
About the Conflict: Talk about teen angst, tension, failed communication, infatuation, and drama, drama, drama! There’s that in play and then some in volume 2. Su-ae cannot catch a break…or can she?
About the Illustrations: The artwork in this edition was deliciously bomb. It was fun and frantic, depicting the ups and downs of what Su-ae and her peers were experiencing. I loved the foreground and background stories. The artist did an incredible job of capturing the essence and movement of the characters.
My Final Say: I loved this story, and I adore this series!
Volume 2 picked up right where volume 1 left off. In this installment, Su-ae is finding her way beyond the kiss that shall not be named. She makes moves to navigate her feelings, regarding her ex. She tries to manage her thoughts about the betrayal, as well as address her attitude towards the betrayers. She also tries to awkwardly tiptoe around her friend-boy, even as she desires to strategize on accruing love points. But that’s not all! There is something or rather someone else. A stranger in close proximity. Hmm… (Me likey!)
Other: Readers who are all about WEBTOON works will fall for this one with a quickness. It brings unexpected turns, high school gossip grenades, heart hurts & hiccups, and Jellypop antics.
Sincere appreciation is extended to the author, to the illustrator, to the publisher (Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group), and to NetGalley. Thank you so very much for granting access to a digital ARC of this volume in exchange for an honest critique. It was a pleasure to review. I look forward to reading more books in the series.
I think this story is so fun, but this ARC volume wasn't fully translated, so I couldn't understand what was going on or being said in some of the scenes. Additionally, since the previous volume ended in the middle of a scene and this one started in the middle of that same scene, the fact that there was no recap made it difficult to remember where we were in the story.
Probably will be purchasing the whole series when it's complete, though, so I can do a full, uninterrupted binge.

Again I am not sure which chapters are included in this so my review is up to chapter 85. I am still loving this series. While I get the love for Eunhyeoks character I think I am shipping Su-ae with Dohwa.
I do love Eunhyeoks character but whenever I see the interactions with Ra-im just make me weary about him. I do get that they were friends of some sort prior to him being even friends with Su-ae but for someone who insists they are so against cheating you would think once he learned she was having an affair with her sisters boyfriend hed start treating her a little different but no. He doesnt ever really change his attitude toward her until he admits him feelings for Su-ae. At least when Dohwa found out about it from Ra-im without even knowing the other girl was her sister was able to speak up and tell her something was wrong with her. And that was all without even being interested in her sister.
Everyone I know that has read this also loves the scene where Eunhyeok gets an extra umbrella for Su-ae but to me that would have been a cute moment between them if he hadnt of just did something similar for her sister. it really ruined the scene for me. Whenever Ra-im is not in the story I understand the love for him but even after he admits his feelings to himself for Su-ae and starts to become more standoffish to ra-im it still feels weird because after you have told someone who clearly likes you and you know the reason they are trying to get close is becuase you are close with their sister that you dont like them I would just start walking past that person. Hes not nice to her anymore but I feel like just him talking with her when she wants is leading her on in some way because at least hes still talking to her. i wonder if he had just stopped altogether if she would have continued.
I just really enjoy Dohwas character honestly. I like seeing the interactions he has with Su-ae. it makes me kinda sad that hes just a third wheel. I know most likely she isnt going to end up with him since hes just the second lead but I hope he also gets a happy ending.
I'm so addicted to Operation: True Love! I first stumbled upon the beginnings of the novel on Webtoon and was instantly hooked. However, I tend to go through phases of checking that app so once I was all caught up in the first 12 episodes, I forgot about it. BUT THEN, I saw the first volume in my Barnes and Noble and SNATCHED it off the shelves. I was so excited to see that Net Galley was offering an ARC of volume 2 and have never clicked so fast in my life.
Kkokkalee just does an absolutely amazing job with every panel of illustration and making us have so much internal beef with a simple flip phone. I started and finished this within one sitting and will be foaming at the mouth for volume three. I am and forever will be Team Eunhyeok. You cannot remove me off this hill, I shall die on it. ESPECIALLY BC FAKE DATING?!?! The edge of that cliff at the end was so steep and I need to see my two babies fake date ASAP. It's one of my favorite tropes and I know kkokkalee will nail it through and through. Though kkokkalee does such an incredible job making you pine for little baby Dohwa because dear god is he serving face in every panel he's in. It's giving me flashbacks of Han Seojun of True Beauty where my allegiance wanted to waver so badly.
Realistically, as long as we're all fighting Minu, I'm satisfied with whatever comes next.
Overall just know I'm going to need kkokkalee to spend 24/7 illustrating and writing because I'm thoroughly addicted to everything they produce.

Cute slow build rom-com.
This is definitely heading in an interestingly chaotic direction and I'm not sure if I'm on any ship right now. Lots of opportunity for character growth and more sabotage.
We only have the barest hints of where this is going and what is happening. Which gives it a lot of room to grow into something big, but right now it's mostly potential. Lots of groundwork being put into place. It's got all the makings of a messy soap opera with the messy bits being the most intriguing.
Our FMC is starting to get a taste of revenge and I'm excited to see what growth she has coming and what she decides to do about her predicament.
That ending??!! Such a cliff hanger... 100% going to need vol. 3. 🩷🩷
Thank you NetGalley and Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group | WEBTOON Unscrolled for this ARC!
This story is taking such a weird turn! In the first book, the main character catches her boyfriend cheating on her with the girl she sees as a sister. She breaks up with him and starts hanging out with someone else. However, in this book, she gets back together with her boyfriend and decides she wants the guy she was hanging out with to cheat with her as a way to get back at them.
I don’t condone this kind of behavior, so I’m torn between wanting to see what happens next and worrying about the other guy getting hurt. It seems like there’s a company in the background pulling the strings, which makes me curious to see how everything will unfold. At the same time, the other guy seems to be falling for the main character, and I don’t want to see him get hurt in the process!
operation: True love, vol 1 was SO addictive, i literally didn’t wanna stop reading. The story pulled me in right away and i was instantly invested in the main character and her situation. I loved how emotional and dramatic everything felt. the main characters insecurities and desire to be loved was so relatable and real. and the tension??😛 the relationships are already so messy in the best way, and im alr obsessed with the dynamics. also can we talk about the art style?? its SO gorgeous wow. overall this was such a fun and engaging read and I’ll definitely be recommending it to anyone who loves romance filled with tension!🥹 thank you net galley!
Operation: True Love, Vol. 2 delivers everything you could want from high school romance drama! The Jellypop phone mystery gets even more intriguing, and the plot ramps up in the best way possible.
The highlight of this volume for me was definitely Eunhyeok. He completely stole the show! Watching his soft spot for Su-ae grow while he tries to keep up his cool, nonchalant front is so charming. Their sweet, slightly awkward banter makes their dynamic ridiculously fun to read, and Su-ae remains such a relatable protagonist to root for amidst all the chaos.
Paired with stunning art, this volume is an addictive, fast-paced read. I flew right through it and can't wait for Volume 3!
Thank you to NetGalley for a preview copy of this great story!!! I will be giving my honest review.
This book was too hard to put down. I read it in one go. I love it! The tension and flirtyness between Su ae and Eunhyeok made me smile. I am not a fan of Su ae's (ex)boyfriend Minu, however. What a creep in multiple ways. Su ae's dad is great! He is a character, and a great dresser. The "love score" part of the story wasn't too clear to me. I hope Vol 3 gets more into that. #OperationTrueLovevol2 #NetGalley
Omg this plot is so good I love it Ok so suae and eunhyuk will end up togeher then Oh poor dohwa but anyways Oh yeyyyy- *ten year time skip* No one is talking to one another and poor suae has been ghosted
Sorry what Who told the author this was a good decision Will never forget the day I opened TikTok to this being the first TikTok on my page Don’t even get me started I can rant ALL DAY LIKE IVE GOT TIMEEEEE
This was cute, the art was great. Those boys are handsome, the sister, please, what a horrible gal. Typical high school romance with all the typical plot tropes. Now, what is the deal with this phone? It has me so confused and all the pages wasted on the existence of it, really necessary? So far the MC is giving lots of mixed signals and the ending...oh boy, he means trouble.
Thank you to the publisher via NetGalley for the e-ARC!
I was so excited to get an ARC to continue the story of "Operation True Love." I first read this when it came out on webtoon and I'm happy to see it getting turned into a series. The second volume follows Su-Ae as she continues to figure out this whole love-points system and gives us an introduction to a new possible love interest, Dohwa Baek. I loved reading this volume, and can't wait to get my hands on the next one!
Firstly, thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an early copy.
I wish I enjoyed this one as much as I enjoyed the first one. I think this whole phone point thing is really throwing me because It’s not being explained enough. I love the art style still and the characters, but Suae so much is going on with her that I genuinely don’t even know who to be mad with half the time in this book. Overall, not my favorite one but the cliffhanger got me so I will be needing the next one.
I received an ARC of Operation True Love, Vol. 2 and leave this review voluntarily.
I really enjoyed the first volume of Operation True Love. The concept was unique and executed well. The second volume continues to build up the world and relationships. I really like how this volume ended. It makes me yearn for the next volume!
Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the option to review the e-ARC of this volume early! As the story progresses, I am definitely getting more invested! I am not usually one for a rom-com story, but I am honestly addicted to the concept and humor that laces each page. I am absolutely looking forward to the next volume to see what Su-ae tries to do.
