What a book. She brings so many legends into this book that you sit in awe of it all. But before that she has created a book worth reading from the moment it said Chapter One. This is Kathryn Le Veque, a story worth writing and for us readers a book worth reading.
Courtly and Max are a great pair, It is love at first site and the fact that daddy has issue's with it does not slow Max down. He will get what he wants no matter what. There was laughter, sorrow, action. She does it so well it astounds me how she is able to bring you into the book and have you feel like you are right there.
The action is just awesome. The Laughter throughout the book. I couldn't stop reading even if I wanted too.
Kathryn Le Veque never ceases to amaze me. How does she keep coming up with such fabulous story lines?
Max and Courtly are delightful together. From the hysterical beginning, to the many obstacles that stand in their way, to their uncertain future at Max's departure for the battle, the frightening huge battle itself and the bittersweet conclusion which strengthens their love, this book has it all. Laughter, suspense, action, tears and sorrow. We also get to see more of Gallus and Jeniver (from "The Thunder Lord: The de Shera Brotherhood Book One - Lords of Thunder). Add all of that together with warrior legends meeting on a battlefield, all knowing and respecting each other, not wanting to engage the other in a battle not of their choosing but for their honor and beliefs and you have another blockbuster book!
I can't wait for the third installment of The de Shera Brotherhood, Tiberius de Shera's story! BRING ON THE THUNDER!
Book Two was definitely a hit for me. Maximus' and Courtly Love story was great. When love hits you...even the mighty fall to it and embrace it. I look forward to reading Tiberius' story. Honey raised three magnificent men who have found their soulmates so far. I truly enjoyed and loved this story. Congratulations to Kathryn Le Veque for another successful story.
the purpose of historical romance:1) make the characters real and human..alive with purpose and faults. 2) tell a good story 3) arouse curiosity so people will research the truth. this book does it quite well. the characters feel as real as the people you know.
Semua diusir.
Maximus de Shera is known as the Thunder Warrior. One of three brothers that are part of Steven de Montfort's fearsome war machine. They are on their way to a showdown with King Henry. These are difficult times in England when some of the mightiest warriors in the land could be fighting on opposite sides from friends they usually fight alongside. While the forces are gathering Maximus finds an unexpected diversion. Lady Courtly Love de Lara's father is also part of the gathering, so she and her little sister are waiting in town. A dramatic and hilarious meeting with the handsome warrior will alter a lot of lives. Her over protective father could upset the best laid plans. An action packed tale that I couldn't put down. The characters are fun, strong and loving. I did need the tissues at the end. That's quite normal for this author to send us through all the emotions. Another marvellous story from one of my favourite authors. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
Maximus is the second brother in the Lords of Thunder and he is the muscle. He meets Courtly when she and her sister have to jump from a burning building and he saves her. It wasn’t long before the attraction between them is evident. Unfortunately her father does not approve of any suitor for his daughter including Max and he will go to great lengths to keep her under his care. In order to have her Max must take her. That sets things in motion that can only be trouble. I enjoyed their story, but like the first book in the series, I felt like the ending was incomplete. There was no epilogue, Too many unanswered questions. What happened to her sister? Who will inherit her fathers title, castles, and lands? What will happen to the aunt? It just seems unfinished. I was hopeful that my unanswered questions from book one would be answered in book two but I was wrong. Now I will hope that questions from book one and two will be answered in book three. We’ll see.
This is a wonderful story about the love of Maximus de Shera and Lady Courtly Love who met totally by accident and fell heR over heels in love very quickly. They were hindered in their desire to marry, however, by her father, who was totally against any man paying attention to either of his daughters. They struggled to be together and were surprised and happy when help came from an unexpected source. The
I love this author i have not read a book of hers i have not enjoyed yet. I am pretty sure i have read them all and reread several. I have read the Wolfe series twice. I have read the DeLorh series twice and some of them 3 times. This is the first time i have read the Thunder Lords as a series. I am on to the next one. I highly recomend for history buffs male and female alike.
A brilliant second instalment in this series. Maximus, the middle brother, has his turn at love and romance. He meets Courtly and her sister when their accommodation burns down. He is instantly smitten with her even though he strikes everyone as the least likely to fall in love and marry. Once they meet, Max is determined to have Courtly as his wife. Her father has other ideas and this is the story of how Max sets about getting the woman of his dreams. Loved it!
4 1/2 STARS The middle de Shera brother, Maximus, finds love when he rescues a young woman and her sister from a burning building. Max assumes asking for her hand in marriage won't be a problem, but Max finds himself at war with the man who refuses to let him. As always, Le VEQUE knows how to write great historical romance that keeps you on the edge of your seat. GREAT READ!!
A chance meeting between Maximus and Courtly sets off a chain of events that even affects Courtly's father and her father's sister. This story is full of emotion and suspense. Read it plus the first story in this series.
So much happened in this book about the Thunder Lords. Three brothers that were the best of the best. Maximum finding love and fought for her with all his might. What a warm and capturing storing. A must read !!!
I love all of Kathryn's books. This one is no different. Lots of twists and turns to keep your interest. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. .
Book two in this trilogy and just as good as book 1. Maximus and Courtly fall in love quickly but her father does not want her involved with anyone. It is quite the story!!
The story takes place in the year 1258. Power struggles between Henry III and Simon de Montfort intensifies. The brothers Gallus, Maximus, and Tiberius de Shera are The Lords of Thunder who ride tto war for de Montfort! This is Maximux's story.
Great second book in The Lords of Thunder trilogy!
While the Lords of Thunder stay in Oxford for a meeting with de Montfort, Maximus saves lady Courtly and her younger sister as they jump out of a burning hostel. This scene was actually quite hilarious, and one of the most memorable in all of the romances I've read. It's love at first sight, despite the embarrassing first introduction between the characters. Maximus and his brother's are invited to sup, by the lady's father, Kellen de Lara, to show his gratitude for saving his beloved children.
Once at de Lara's manor house we're introduced to Coutly's bitter, spinster aunt, Elice. She shows nothing but disdain for her nieces and brother, and takes away her servants so that their honored guests will not be served. At first you will believe that this crazy aunt is the villain in the story, but once it's clear that a romance is developing between the H and h, the revealing of the real villain will be known.
There is plenty of action in this story. Also, a ton of humor, which Kathryn is really good at writing. Both in situations and in character interactions. At least there were no jokes about fat women (which I appreciated because of the 1st book.)
Courtly is an extremely selfless, and honorable individual. She is willing to sacrifice her own happiness for the safety and wellbeing of the one she loves. I really liked her. Maximus is the supreme warrior. I enjoyed his immediate attraction to his lady and the fact that he himself could not believe he had become such a love sick fool. Kathryn Le Veque has managed to, once again, make me laugh and cry while reading her novel. She's a master at provoking emotional responces and I think that is why her books are so well liked. Especially by me. If you love medieval romance, and can handle a necessary love scene, I would strongly recommend this book to you.
The Thunder Warrior by Kathryn Le Veque The de Shera Brotherhood Book 2: Lords of Thunder
This is a very touching story. There are so many aspects of what it is to love and in this story, the author really explores those connections. This is the story of how the second born de Shera son finds love. Yet this story is so much more than that. Loyalties and friendships, fathers and sons, all must choose sides, yet concerns are put to rest as each person realizes, the bond of friendship overrides loyality to Country. With that said, this book has some of the funniest moments I have ever had the privilege of reading. If I met a man the way Courtley met Maximus, I would have a red face for a year and move to a different Country. But I laughed out loud until my eyes overflowed with tears. Every time I thought I was done laughing, it would start all over again.
In this book, you feel the love of family, friendships, the love three sons have for their mother and the most adoring and profound respect for their mother as well. That truly pulled on my heart strings. Then there are trials and battles, emotionally as well as physically. And there is loss written with such reverence and admiration, with words of wisdom to be passed down to each generation. An emotionally charged, fulfilling story, that will also make you laugh and then laugh some more. I loved it. An absolute must read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Another case of good writing and poor plots. I don't mean that the book is bad. I just mean, it is not great, for me.
Kathryn Le Veque is very good at her medievals. I like her way of telling a story. It is just her characters are almost always the same, with plotlines that make me wonder, what is the point to read more at all?
I don't mind formula in romances so much. I think it is inevitable that the romance novels feature some cliche at some point. I do think though, it is a defining quality of the writers to make a formulaic story memorable and alive. Of all the stories I read by Le Veque, none of them would make the mark for me.
Her heros are always very honorable knights. Her heroines always level-headed gentle heroines. This is why I can still read her stories because these are character types that I am most comfortable with, especially the heroines. The problem is that they almost always profess love very early. Was it really like this in those times? People met each other and decided this was their love after a day?
I would still read her books on a good day where I could tolerate a ok story. I have stopped looking for that "oh my god this book is fantastic" feeling in the books from this writer.
I liked this book in part because it is relatively light. The hero is a strong knight, the fair maid is just that. The monsters and dragons, demons and villains, change throughout the book as the story moves from the local to national level, back to family, and around. The characters are strong. They developed rapidly, alternative somewhat predictably. Predictability is an advantage in this story, because other pieces of the story are not predictable. I enjoyed the book. I will be finding additional books starring these characters...one of which is already queued up on my Kindle.
“But if I receive another proposition by a woman who wants to kiss me where I pee, then I will collect all of my possessions and flee the city entirely. But please do not ever tell your mother I stayed here. She would then kick me where I pee and I should be a very sad man.”
That is the funniest bit I have read in ages in an historical romance. Would a grown man really say that?!? Who cares!
This is the middle book in a good series about familial love and loyalty to cause and country. Really more of a family saga than a romance novel although Maximus lives up to his name in bed.
4- The ending was REALLY abrupt and left a lot of loose ends IMO. Bummed me out because the start of this book was hilarious and engaging, I thought it was going to be a fav. Don't get me wrong, it was still a fine story - hers always are - but it had the potential to be really good and it fell short, so that was disappointing. (Update: 20% into book 3 they gave the answers I needed for closure to book 2)
It was written with great detail. What the building's look like to the smells good and bad. How they $hop and took care of many needs of life in general. The battle and battlefield look like was written well as if you were there looking at the moment in time. I like all of her books.
The second book continues this medieval romance. It displays a great many trials & love as this second book seamlessly picks up after book 1. I like that the author doesn't feel the need to play catch up to a reader that may have not read the first book. Of course you could read this a standalone but I think it's greatest strength is in the series.
