In Chains of Crimson
They can steal our blood.
We can take their power.
For centuries, witches and vampires have maintained a fragile peace, upheld by Alligare Academy—the prestigious school where both species are forced to coexist. But after the war tipped the scales of balance, every witch must now steal power from a vampire to earn their place within its walls.
For Anastasia, that requirement is the whole problem. She wants nothing to do with vampires. Haunted by demons from her past and fueled by hatred, her only goal is to complete the ritual and secure her future.
Her plan falls perfectly into place when she spots a dangerously beautiful vampire trespassing in witch territory. To steal power, she must forge the emotional bond required for the ritual. Lust is easy. Disposable.
But the vampire she chooses is anything but ordinary. He’s intoxicating, dangerous, and far too willing to play her game.
The moment she steals his power, a bond snaps into place, binding them deeper than she ever intended.
She escapes him, barely, and turns up at Alligare Academy, ready to claim her place and forget about him.
Then he appears.
The ruthless Prince of Darkthorne.
The vampire she stole from.
The man bound to her by blood, desire, and something far more dangerous.
She’s about to discover that the bond she forged in lust didn’t just tie him to her. It’s blurring the lines she thought were unshakable, and he’s far too interested in seeing how she bends next.
For fans of Zodiac Academy, On Wings of Blood, and The Vampire Diaries.

This book was soooo good. I've been into the paranormal vampire genre of books as a main genre this year and this read didnt disappoint. The tension between the fmc and mmc in this read was absolutely everything and that's not even mentioning the world building which was phenomenal and such an immersive read it becomes a page turner in no time. Highly Recommend! I got this via the author and this is my voluntary review.

A huge thank you to Scarlett for providing me with this ARC! Vampires are back and I am utterly obsessed! I was so excited to dive in, it’s been a while since I last read a book with a vampire MMC, and this one hit all the right spots. Eryx did NOT disappoint😮💨
Tropes: vampire & witches, blood bond (accidental), lust bond (also accidental) academic settings, fragile coexistence, she hates him, he falls first (he’s obsessed)
The story centers on Anastasia, a young witch navigating a world where witches and vampires are in a very fragile, tense balance. Due to her past, she deeply loathes vampires. But things get infinitely more complicated when her path crosses with Eryx, an extremely powerful, dangerous and magnetic vampire, and her world is completely upended.
Right from the start, the intense pull and undeniable (literally!) connection between Anastasia and Eryx were next level. The banter, the tension, the chemistry, every scene with them together was purely electric! I couldn’t get enough of them, I was completely glued to the pages and never wanted this book to end!
Another thing I absolutely adored was the friendship between Anastasia, Tessa, and Maven. Their bond added so much heart, warmth and fun to the story, balancing out the darker moments perfectly!
And that ending?! What a finale! It left me completely breathless. I am so so curious and impatient to see where the story goes next, I need the next book immediately!
If you love enemies to lovers, addictive chemistry and found family, you’ll eat this up! Especially if you’re a fan of Zodiac Academy, this needs to be on your tbr immediately❤️

This was SO addictive. 🖤
I flew through this in a day! It was perfectly paced, easy to read, and the tension between Anastasia and Eryx kept me hooked.
I really liked that this was more character-focused. The whole witch vs vampire feud is there, but the story really revolves around Anastasia, Eryx, the blood bond, and everything that comes with being stuck with someone you absolutely shouldn't be stuck with.
Anastasia was probably my favourite part. She's stubborn, determined, and and absolutely refuses to let the blood bond decide her fate. I loved watching her try to find a way out of the bond while still getting increasingly tangled up in everything surrounding Eryx.
And Eryx... 🤭 He's SO annoyingly charming. He loves messing with her, knows exactly how to get under her skin, and somehow every new chapter had me discovering another secret about this vampire prince.
The tension between them was definitely a highlight, but I especially loved the little moments where the care started slipping through.
I do wish we got to know Eryx more because this man has approximately 500 secrets and apparently a new ability every five minutes. 😭 I need to know what is going on in his head, especially in the last chapters.
And THAT ENDING??? 👀
I'm not saying anything because of spoilers, but I finished the book and immediately needed the next one. Let's just say I have questions. MANY questions.
If you like vampires, witches, blood bonds, tension, slow burn and an annoyingly charming vampire prince, definitely give this one a try. 🖤

🧛🏻♂️ So many good vampire books are coming out, and I am SO excited about it! I came across this book on Threads, and the blurb hooked me immediately. A witch and a vampire stuck in a lust bond? What could possibly go wrong?! 👀
Our FMC Anastasia has a deeply rooted resentment towards vampires, and for very understandable reasons. Witches and vampires live in a fragile truce, with the two societies largely kept separate unless they happen to cross paths at Alligare Academy.
Witches are required to steal power by binding a vampire in a blood bond, but when Ana mistakenly binds the wrong vampire, she barely manages to escape. So imagine her surprise when she comes face-to-face with him at the academy, only to discover that he’s far more than just an ordinary vampire 👀
I really enjoyed the worldbuilding. It was easy to follow without ever feeling overly complicated, while still being immersive enough to completely fall into.
Anastasia has been through a lot. She’s stubborn, determined, and unafraid to do whatever needs to be done to get what she wants. In other words, she’s messy, and I love her. 😂 And then there’s Eryx, the emotionally unavailable, morally grey vampire. He’s cocky, charming, and always has the right thing to say, whether it’s to annoy you or get you hot and bothered 🥵
This is a true enemies-to-enemies-with-benefits relationship, with both of them constantly fighting to get the upper hand. The tension between these two was electrifying from the very beginning, and I simply couldn’t get enough!
I also loved the friend trio (and Leo!). Their dynamic was so sweet, and they are true girl’s girls 🥹
Overall, this book was addictive. Prepare to sit down and finish it in one sitting! The pacing was fantastic, the plot kept me interested throughout, and the romance was sizzling from page one.
If you, like me, feel like vampires are BACK, or you’re craving a good vampire romance as we head into fall and Halloween, don’t walk, RUN to grab this book! 🧛🏻♂️
Also, that ending was criminal, so don’t say I didn’t warn you. I need book two like, yesterday 😭

It's almost hoa hoa hoa season, and I might have started a little early on my vampire reads this year 🤭 No regrets 🫸🏻 If you're looking for an easy little witchy/vampire read to get you started, that's perfect timing since this releases september 8th. I was lucky enough to get my hands on it early - or unlucky since I now have to wait longer to find out what happens after that ending 😳
The book folllows Anastasia, a bloodbinder witch who has to steal power from a vampire to keep her place at the academy for witches and vampires. She accidentally steals power from one of the most powerful vampires, tieing her fate to his. Eryx follows her to the academy, refusing to let her out of his sight now that Anastasia just put a huge target on both of their backs.
Now being a vampire clearly doesn't pay the bills, otherwise there would be no 🫳🏻 one bed trope.

It was a great book to ease into some fall reads this coming season, nothing says fall like some blood thirsty vampires and power hungry witches ❤️🔥I definitely wouldn't mind some more vampire books right about now, and I will absolutely be waiting for the next book in this series.

In Chains In Crimson was a fun, short and spicy read full of vampires vs witches I think this book has a lot of potential, but unfortunately it fell slightly short for me in a few areas.
You could argue that it falls under dark academia, but I never really got a full sense of what they were actually learning at school/university, which made that aspect of the story feel a little underdeveloped.
The FMC and MMC also seemed to develop feelings for each other quite quickly, without much relationship development or them really spending enough time together for it to feel fully believable. I was also a little confused by the magic system and, more specifically, why the witches needed to take their power back from the vampires. I think this could have been explained a lot more clearly.
I also would have liked to see some of the side characters developed a little more, as I think they had potential to add more depth to the story.
That being said, I did enjoy the cliffhanger ending! It was quite unexpected and definitely left me wanting to know what happens next, so I’ll be reaching for book 2.
Overall, a fun, quick and spicy read with plenty of potential, but I just wanted a little more depth and development in some areas.

In Chains of Crimson was a fun and spicy read. Once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down. For me, it was the desire, lust, and forced proximity that really carried this story through. The spicy scenes were insanely hot, the vampire, Eryx was equal parts infuriating, despicable and absolutely delectable. I was slightly unsure about Ana, the witch FMC, at first, however as the story progressed she became increasingly more badass and I enjoyed her sassy attitude and no bullshit personality. Ana's friends, Maven and Tessa, are to dream for. Seriously, I am so jealous because those girls had her back in every way, especially knowing when to call Ana out on her BS. My one gripe is that I wish there was a bit more focus around building their characters specifically. I felt like I didn't know them as well as I should which created a distance between me the reader and the characters and being able to fully immerse myself in the story.
Otherwise this was such a fun, quick read and after that ending I can't wait to find out what happens in book 2!

This book was rec'ed to me by my indie author book club and let me just tell you, I am thoroughly OBSESSED, GAGGED, HOOKED, need I go on?
The Author, Scarlett Larsson, did a phenomenal job in her writing of "In Chains of Crimson" and I am sad that the book is over but so very excited at the prospects of reading the second book when it releases!
I loved every minute of this book, from the very detailed and well-laid plot, the ever-developing characters, to the lethal slow-burn. I devoured every word with zero regrets and this is easily filed in the "Re-read" category for me, which is only occupied by 2 other books. That is how spectacular this book was!
Perfect fall/spooky season read! With witches and vampires, blood bonds, an academy, forced alliances, plot twists and more! IF you are looking for your next read, I HIGHLY consider adding this to your list! I have a feeling you'll love it!
Tropes:
x forced proximity
x blood bonds
x complex magical systems
x enemies to lovers to enemies
x lethal slow-burn
x witch/vampire

amazing magicical/romance book
I have to say this is my first book by Scarlett and let me tell you she had me wanting more from the start to finish.
This book is about vampires and witches and how they get their powers before getting into magic academy. The main characters; one is a vampire who is a powerful royal one then you have the witch whose parents were killed by the cold ones. This tells how they come together and how they navigate through all the twists and turns, also following the rest of the main heroines friends and everyone at the school.
It truly is an amazing story and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

~~ARC REVIEW INCOMING~~
3.75 stars for me. I didnt enjoy it enough to give it 4 stars. But thats purely on me I think.
This was a fun little read in the sense that it wasn't heavy and you could fly through it.
However I personally didnt connect with the characters which is why I think it fell a little flat for me.
This would be perfect for someone looking for a darkish vampy/witchy read who likes some spice and good humour.
Thank you for allowing me to read this and I look forward to see what you do next!

***ARC Review*** 4.3 stars
First of all, thank you, Scarlett, for allowing me to ARC read this one! It was sexy, flowed really well, and it captivated me from start to finish. I love the banter, the chemistry, how the MMC and FMC try to torture each other, and the side characters in the book. I would like to know more, especially about Leo. One thing I felt was that the ending felt a bit rushed for my taste. But the cliffhanger?!?! Scarlett, when will book 2 be out? I need it now!!!

I'm soooo mad. Not because this book was bad. Far from it actually. I'm mad because I want more.
There were some aspects that needed polishing, like the rules for the treaty and how the Darkthorne Kingdom operates. We're given glimpses of what powers are but it needs clarity. The romance between the MMC and the FMC also feels conflicting. Just when you think they've finally found their footing, one or both of them does something to destroy their progress.

I have received this book as an ARC, and boy, did I devour it.
It's one of those books that when you put it down (because it's 4 am and you need to go to sleep), you can't wait to go back to it. Or when you finish it, you wish there was more because you miss the characters and world.
10/10 would recommend. That is to say, when it's out, get it or you'll regret it!

A slow start, but around 25% it really picked up. I really enjoyed the story, there were a few unexpected twists and turns to keep your brain thinking. There were a few moments where I felt a little lost, as things weren't explained as clearly as they could have been, however I absolutely will be picking up book 2 to see where Ana and Eric's story goes next!

Currently 2 am because I couldn’t put this book down to allow myself sleep. AHHHHHHHH. This book is everything you could want in a romantasy. You’ve got witches x vampires in an academic setting. September 14, 2026What a fun glimpse into this new series and world! We’ve got vampires and witches, familiars and rivalries. The banter was fun, the cliffhanger ending was great, and I enjoyed the dynamic of the main characters.

I could not put this book down! The ending…. Perfection! Definitely left me wanting more. Loved the academia setting. We definitely need at least one more book! I need to know what happens with Anastasia and Eryx! Loved everything about it!

This was such a good read & hot too! “We will never be over” okayyyyy 🥵 terrified and a little sexy too. There were a few areas where some details could’ve been pushed in to really make the story flourish but otherwise it was perfect. Steadily paced and I’m looking forward to book 2!

'His kiss tasted like sin, lilac, and regret, yet my tongue danced over his without shame.'
This was exactly the sexy vampire book I have been craving. Ana and Eryx are completely drawn to each other, but both denying their feelings/bond. Eryx has a dirty mouth and is not afraid to use it at all times. I loved the dynamic between the trio of friends.
The ending of the book had my jaw on the floor, I need book two ASAP!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
I was looking forward to reading this book and I was not disappointed. From the first page, I was hooked and wanted to follow Anastasia on her journey. I liked her and her friends, Tess and Maven are so likeable, too.
I really liked Eryx from the first scene. He screamed dangerous and more powerful than Anastasia realized and I couldn't wait to see how he turned the tables on her. And finding out who he really is?!
I like second year student Leo. He's such a sweetheart. I hope he gets the girl he's crushing on. Even though I don't think his friendship with Anastasia will ever recover… 💔
I cannot wait for the next book because what do you mean that's the ending?! Seriously, the worst part of being lucky enough to read an early copy is that the wait for the next book is even longer lol
🩸 Witch × Vampire
⛓️ Academy Setting
🩸 She Hates Him
⛓️ Morally Gray Characters
🩸 Slow Burn Romance / High Spice
⛓️ One Little Kidnapping
🩸 Accidental Blood Bond / Lust Bond
I was looking forward to reading this book and I was not disappointed. From the first page, I was hooked and wanted to follow Anastasia on her journey. I liked her and her friends, Tess and Maven are so likeable, too.

Thank you to the author for the ARC of this book, In Chains of Crimson.
2.75 ⭐
Just finished this ARC and I thought it was alright! It had one of my new favorite tropes is accidental binding between the two main characters, so I was eager to start it. I just found after a bit that it was really repetitive. It was the same things and pharases happening over and over.
The writing and the characters felt very "high school" and not magical college. It was a little bit cringey. With that being said, even though it left off with a cliffhanger, I won't be finishing the series.
