Piper mengejar mimpinya untuk menjadi koki dengan berusaha mendapatkan beasiswa ke Paris. Ketika dia berhasil, dia tahu bukan hanya dirinya yang bahagia. Dia mempersembahkan keberhasilannya terlebih untuk Patience, kakaknya yang sudah berusaha keras mengangkat mereka dari kehidupan di dunia gelap. Sambil berkuliah, dia menjadi pelayan rumah tangga di rumah seorang Professor seni, Frederic mengalami kondisi dimana matanya perlahan-lahan kehilangan kemampuan untuk melihat. Sejak berusia 15 tahun, dia menyadari bahwa hal yang sama diderita oleh ayahnya akan menurun padanya. Suatu saat nanti dia akan sepenuhnya buta. Keadaan ini membuat Frederic menutup diri. Dia tidak mau tergantung pada siapapun. Dia cukup merasakan bagaimana dirinya terabaikan ketika masih kecil saat ibunya hanya mengurus ayahnya yang buta.
Ketuka Piper diminta oleh Patience dan Stuart untuk mencari lukisan Ana, Frederic menawarkan diri untuk membantu. Di situlah dia mulai mengenal dengan baik pelayan rumahnya. Piper yang selalu memuja Patience, hampir membuat Frederic cemburu. Perjalanan mereka ke Inggris membuat hubungan keduanya semakin dekat. Tapi tentu saja Frederic tidak ingin berkomitmen.
Saya sedikit terkecoh dengan judulnya. Saya sempat berpikir kisahnya tentang alpha male yang kaya dan sombong. Tapi Frederic jauh dari itu. Nyaris tidak ada soal kekayaannya disinggung dalam novel ini. Justru intelektualitasnya yang ditonjolkan. Meski demikian, dia juga digambarkan angkuh dengan keterbatasan yang dimilikinya, tidak mau dibantu oleh orang lain.
Saya suka bagaimana penulis menggiring pembacanya dengan menyodorkan fakta keegoisan Frederic yang mengabaikan cinta Piper. Tapi kemudian Frederic balik menyerang Piper dengan mengatakan dirinya tidak kalah egoisnya mematikan impiannya demi kebahagiaan kakaknya. Pesan dari novel ini, yakinkan dirimu bahagia sebelum berusaha membahagiakan orang lain.

If you like reading Barbara Wallace romance books then you will simply adore reading Harlequin Romance ,Beauty & Her Billionaire Boss.
This one had my heart and complete attention from the moment I opened the pages and started reading it.. I hurt for Piper Rush from the moment I read about her struggles with bullies and saw her trying hard to be good enough for her boss Frederic.
Then I was heartbroken reading about his struggles not only trying to overcome the loss of his wife but even worse trying to beat the hands of fate that were slowly causing him to lose his sight and go blind, knowing he inherited the same disease that took his fathers eyesight.
Even worse was watching him try to keep people at bay so they wouldn't witness his plight or be hurt by it. I loved how fiesty Piper got and how she fought back at him to try and get him to see what was right in front of his nose, love, something you don't have to see but feel in order for it to become a reality.
Once he succumbs to his feelings for Piper will he be able to open his heart to her love or send her packing before she is forced to endure the pain and heartache of loving a blind man like his mother did with his father? Or will he realize in time that they are not his parents and that love shines through no matter what darkness is around him? Will he keep her or send her away?
I have to be honest and tell you that this romance broke my heart and I cried for a while reading it hoping that they would find a way to get past all that fate had dumped on their doorstep and live happily ever after unfortunately fate can't always be changed so then I just had to hope and pray that their love would be enough to help heal them and find their way back to each other.
If you want to read a romance that really makes you feel deep down and shed more than a couple of tears I'd recommend running out and grabbing a copy of Beauty & Her Billionaire Boss now because you won't want to miss this one, I know I'm glad I didn't!

As soon as I read the back of the book says it sets its location in Paris, how can I not refuse?
Somehow, Piper's story reminds me of my misadventure while in Paris for a vacation last year, my wallet with an iPhone, cash, credit card and a piece of ID got stolen while at a Metro Stop.
But after a good cry, heart to heart talk with my parents thru FaceTime, clean myself up and some solid food, my friend and I managed to stay on track with our trip plan. And I was lucky to keep most of my money, a spare credit card and passport was intact in the hotel's safe deposit box in our hotel room.
And just like that, the magic of Paris comes back to me, I was enjoying myself with the food, exploring Louvre for one whole entire day and some shopping, but not too much because everything was so expensive, but I did brought some great French food home, especially a local lavender honey which was perfect for my breakfast ritual.
Back to the book, was so touched to the idea one of the characters have a difficult challenge ahead in life, which was Frederic's gradual lost of sight. And how stubborn he was to accept that he needs help to get thru this challenge and finally accept the fact that Piper's love and support no matter what, will allow him to be able to get thru anything.
And Piper's own story of misadventures and finally at the end, she knows what to do to make her happy, has been also one of my challenge for the last few years, to finally able making my own choices and not let anyone else tell me what to do and choose for my own happiness.

Ceritanya simple sih, tentang gadis amerika yang pergi ke prancis untuk sekolah kuliner yang dipikir adalah mimpinya. Selain sekolah kuliner, Piper bekerja sebagai pelayan Frederic, lelaki yang memiliki masalah dengan matanya.
Berawal dari orang asing dan menjadi dekat saat Piper berusaha mencari lukisan Nigel, seorang seniman yang dicintai oleh tante kekasih kakaknya. Piper dan Frederic mencari jejak lukisan itu sampai ke Inggris. Saat-saat kebersamaan mereka terancam berakhir ketika kesehatan mata Frederic menurun dan Frederic tidak mau menggantungkan hidupnya pada Piper yang mencintainya.
Walau kisahnya sederhana, aku lumayan suka dan agak sebel dengan sikap Frederic yang sok kuat dan merasa bisa hidup sendirian. Leaki seperti ini memang harus diberi pelajaran agar lebih menghargai orang-orang yang tulus mencintainya dan syukurlah Frederic tidak terlambat menyadarinya.
