This is “Savannah’s Choice” by Lily Mae Winslow. A Remington Ridge Novel.
Please know there will be references to “Caroline’s Promise” in this review. And to get the entire fulfilling story of Remington Ridge, I would recommend you read the first book.
We’re again visiting the beautiful and unforgettable Remington Ridge. Where life slows and an appreciation for the land, heritage and love of family abound. Where healing is made possible.. if wanted.
Savannah’s sister, Caroline is gone. Leaving behind a husband, Garrett and son, lil Luke. One learning of her love each day. The other never forgetting the special love he had with her. With the land and family alike remembering both Luke and Caroline under the Old Oak tree.
Savannah and Wyatt had built a life after Carolines death. A home on the ranch and had been blessed with sweet little Willa.
But life on the ranch after Caroline is different. Death touched them all. All but one was able to stand against it, together. But Wyatt, had learned early in life that to love, hurt when you lost it. He had handled the death of his favorite dog, even when Luke, his young brother and Caroline died. Yes it gutted him like all who loved them. But he coped, even when his pattern was to run. Which he did but always came back. But when he was faced with having to possibly choose on who was to live between the loves of his life, Savannah his wife and his child, it crushed him. Scarring him with the realization that he would be lost without them. So.. he did what he was comfortable with, he ran. A man so hurt and damaged that he runs from the one that could help most. Distancing himself from Savannah and Willa. Re-insisting back into the military. A decision that he may not be able to come back from. A marriage in trouble.
Leaving Savannah hurt and confused. Mistaking fear for conviction. He felt like it was survival, others called it cowardly.
Tearing a fracture between them that might never be mended back together again.
When the unthinkable happens and Wyatt comes home he’s not only damaged emotionally but physically. Now both Wyatt and Savannah both have to choose to stay, to be there, or run.
Lily Mae Winslow writes emotions in words. Her words are like poetry. Delivering feeling and intention.
Savannah is a strong woman of faith. That faith guides her in their journey of loss, love, fear and longing.
Of Moving forward with purpose.
It wasn’t that Wyatt didn’t care, rather he cared too much.
So through faith they choose to…stay, fight and trust. Faith and purpose leading them.
So going on in this book. I pretty much finished it in one day.
Highly suggested for a gripping, heart felt, soul stirring, emotional read with a happy ending.

Savannah’s Choice is the story of Savannah the wife of Wyatt that has one baby named Willa.  They live on a family farm with his brother Garrett and son Luke and his parents.  Garrett lost his wife Caroline which was Savannah’s sister and he had Elizabeth as his nanny.  The story is wrapped around Wyatt and his struggles to try to accept the deaths of his dog, then later his younger brother, and finally his sister in law Caroline’s death.  And when Savannah was giving birth to Willa something happened and they asked Wyatt if it came to it who did he want for them to save?  Every since that day he feels that you can’t protect your loved ones.  So his answer to this situation is not to stay and protect his family, but to reenlist in the military.   He keeps saying he doesn’t belong on the farm and he really don’t know where he belongs.  Before Wyatt leaves he and Garrett get into a fight and Savannah tries to stop them but their Dad said it was time to let them finish it.   That was Savannah’s breaking point.  That is when Savannah takes Willa to live with her parent’ on a nearby farm to provide a steady life for Willa. They do come to tell Wyatt goodbye and to come back home to them.

A couple of weeks after Savannah and Willa are gone, Savannah wants to come back to her home with all of Willa’s things.  His family all welcome Savannah and Willa home where they belong.  Savannah does finally get a letter from Wyatt and it sounds like the old Wyatt.  Not to long into Wyatt’s training he is involved in an exercise that was not suppose to cause no harm but the soldier in front of him stepped on a bomb and it took out Wyatt also.  A military car and two soldiers show up to the farm to speak with Savannah.  They tell her that Wyatt has been hurt bad and they are transferring him to a trauma unit stateside where he will go immediately into surgery and they will know more when they arrive there.  Savannah asks Garrett to go with her.  They find that Wyatt had a lot of internal trauma and bleeding and they got that handled.  Said his leg was the tough one but as of then it had been stabilized.  Not long he goes to running a fever and infection has started in his lower leg.  They said they might not be able to save it and Savannah had to make the decision to let them amputate his lower leg if they cannot repair it or he will die.  She says ok.  When he comes out of surgery his leg below his knee is gone.  When Wyatt finds out what has happened, Savannah tells him that it was amputate or let him die.  She tells Wyatt he has no idea what that decision was like for her.  His recovery will change the entire family.  It will be Savannah’s choice if she stays with him or leaves him for good.

Savannah opens up this story with the knowledge that her marriage is in trouble, and her husband Wyatt seems to be pulling away.
He’s betrayed her in a pretty big way. It’s not cheating, but this way is almost worse - it’s a form of abandonment that I’m not sure that I would ever forgive.

His actions… the loss in this hit differently. He chose to leave; it was a form of cowardice, and it led me to really struggle with his character. It led to a horrific situation, leaving Savannah to make a decision that no person should have to make.

I felt so bad for Savannah - she lost her husband twice, and he treated her so poorly in his fear and anger… I had moments where I wanted her to just walk away. I know this is a faith-based story of forgiveness and redemption after many. many chances), but oh… it was so hard to support it at times. Savannah is a far better person than I could be.

After reading Caroline’s story, I knew I was going to get an emotional story, and this one definitely provided… in Wyatt’s case, my anger…
He had his fears, but his ways of dealing with everything just gave me a feeling that he was selfish and ungrateful. What he put Savannah through…
Lily Mae Winslow did an amazing job of displaying the outcomes of his decision - the anger, the grief, the fear… the loss of identity, but I still struggled to sympathise with him.

Another one I couldn’t put down, unless it was to take a moment to cool off. I’m just glad the ending was a bit nicer to me, this time!.

Savannah's Choice: A Remington Ridge Novel by Lily Mae Winslow is book 2 in this series, can be read as a stand alone. Although, I feel you to need to read Caroline's Promise, book 1 first, to get a better understanding of Wyatt's past. An emotionally charged story of love, marriage, faith, ranch life, second chances, small town romance and a clean Western romance. Well written with charming and intriguing characters. Savannah and Wyatt's story will grab you from the beginning and hold you as they and you cry, and laugh as they giggle life and danger. A must read for fans of Western, Historical Fiction, small town romance, second chances within a marriage, and finding healing and love again. A fantastic read that keeps you turning pages. Loved SAVANNAH'S CHOICE. Great job Ms. Winslow!

6/5 So so good!!! I laughed, I cried and ran through almost every emotion! This family keeps growing on me!! Another one added to my 2026 FAVORITES! Lily Mae Winslow is in my TOP 10 TWICE and it’s only May 😂😍👏 Wyatt is scared and distant after fear of losing one or both of “his girls”. His family comes together in prayer and puts their trust in the Lord that they will keep Wyatt safe and restore his family. This emotional, clean, faith filled romance story is a beautiful story. This family faces hard hard things in life and Lily Mae Winslow has a gift of taking us right along side with them. I received an advanced copy of this book from the author and am happily sharing my thoughts and opinions. People really must read this series!!!

'Savannah’s Choice is Book 2 in the Remington Ridge Series, a deeply emotional small-town romance about marriage, healing, and choosing love—even when it’s hard.'

Can be read as a standalone but for maximum enjoyment read the books in series order.

The characters carried the story and they were very appealing and likeable and complicated and absolutely perfect together. Plot was intriguing and intense and well paced. World building continues to excel and impress. All in all a great addition to the series. Enjoyed immensely and highly recommend.

Grab a copy, kick back and enjoy!.

MESMERIZING and deeply engaging from the first sentence to the last! Lily’s gifting as a writer shines through the multi-dimensional characters that come to life in this heartwarming story. Wyatt and Savannah have gone through emotional storms together until Wyatt’s fear takes hold. You’ll become so connected with the characters that you’ll feel every emotion they experience. A traumatic injury opens a door to a second chance at forever and you’ll see what a forever love 💕 looks like! I highly recommend this UNFORGETTABLE romance! I couldn’t put it down!

Savannah's Choice is a sweet small town clean romance. This book touched on difficult topics with grace and much faith. I love that Savannah and Wyatt did not give up when things got hard.

One thing I did struggle with was the repetitive use of words and phrases. Also, the writing felt a bit clinical and much like a therapy session.

I absolutely love this series! I cried several times in this one. Love isn't always the happy times. It's figuring out how to adjust to life in the hard times. How to be you but different at the same time. I love how raw and deep we get with the characters! Can't wait for the next one!!
