Are We Ready for the Ring? Help for Couples Considering Engagement

Rate this book
You’ve been dating for a while now, and it feels like there should be a next step. You care deeply for the other person, and you enjoy the time you spend together, but is he or she the person you want to spend the rest of your life with? Drawing from decades of counseling experience, Rob Green offers a compassionate yet candid roadmap for evaluating personal maturity, relational health, spiritual unity, and life direction.

Are We Ready for the Ring? helps couples evaluate whether they should move toward engagement, wait to make a decision, or step away from the relationship. With real‑life stories, relevant Scripture, and heart‑probing questions, this book encourages couples to look beyond emotions and consider the foundations essential for a Christ‑honoring marriage.

Addressing contemporary challenges such as social media, financial pressures, past relationships, and differing life goals, the book provides clarity, confidence, and peace as couples seek God’s direction. Through guided questions and reflective exercises, it encourages meaningful individual reflection, honest conversations as a couple, and deeper engagement with trusted mentors.

Excellent! As a pastor who has these conversations often, I found this resource to be thorough—dealing with all the various and relevant aspects of life, deep—exploring the heart level of motives and desires, realistic—stripping away expectations of perfection, and practical—actually guiding couples to move toward the goals of clarity, unity, and affirmation. I will be using this for my next pre-engagement counseling case.
