Tissues...lots and lots of tissues were filled during the reading of The Final 4th of Sergeant Drummond. This story must be read by every person who claims to be an human! We have lost our way, our connection to one another, but we can find it again.
Favorite Words:
"'All Charlie wanted was to see us try again. Come together. One more time.' He looked back at Annie. 'Not fix everything. Not agree on everything. Just show up for each other. That's what the 250th meant to him. Proof that we still could.'"

This was incredible. This story is deep. It is full of hope. It's full of purpose. It is about unity, hope, faith, resilience, and everything America is about. It's an emotional roller coaster worthy of going on.
I enjoyed every minute of it. Everyone should read this. It's even worth re-reading. This is a book you savor, not one you speed read through. Take your time reading this masterpiece.

A wonderful story to celebrate our nations 250th. And perhaps a book we should reread at least once a year to remind us of what's important. This is a story of a community that sets aside differences to celebrate and fulfill a promise made. It was wonderful to read how antagonists set aside their differences to work together. It was wonderful to read about people who may not agree with what was going on, still support an effort to be kind.
This story is as much a commentary on today's climate in the US as any I've read. But it is filled with hope. Hope that we can work together to make our communities a better place. Loved it. Will recommend to others.

A great book to celebrate America's 250th birthday! This was a touching story about a town that puts together an early celebration to honor a promise that an elderly veteran made to his late brother.
I have enjoyed all of the books I have read from this author.

Such a sweet story about a town pulling together to help a veteran keep his promise to his brother even if it means celebrating Independence day in May.
