Premier business consultant Simon West can turn around any struggling billion dollar corporation in New York City, but he can’t get what he wants most: revenge against Mark DuFord. The slick investment banker's shady dealing led to Simon’s best friend’s suicide. Wealthy, and well-protected by the political influence he’s been able to purchase, DuFord has become untouchable—or so he thinks. But when DuFord’s former girlfriend asks Simon for help, he knows that Grace Bell is the weapon he needs to finally destroy his enemy completely. All Simon has to do is pretend to love her.

Grace Bell knows that approaching hot-shot Simon West to save her business is a long shot, but she’s desperate. After growing up with a family that expected her to be a happy housewife, she’d proved them all wrong when she became the go-to event-coordinator in New York City. But after the tabloids took a completely innocent picture of her with a married senator and misinterpreted the situation, she’s losing clients left and right. When she approaches Simon and begs for his help to resuscitate the business she put her heart and soul into, she never expects him to agree. Or that the payment would be posing as his lover as an excuse to get close to her ex.

Simon knows if he goes forward with his plan, it's only a matter of time before Mark realizes what they're up to and Mark’s enemies have a way ending up broke, in jail or six feet under. As Simon and Grace grow closer, Simon must decide if putting her in the line of fire is worth avenging the past.

˃˃˃ Interview with the Author
Q – What makes Simon and Grace different from the other couples in the Billionaires In The City series?

A – As I’ve said in the past, my I adore the power struggles between April and Sam from Teaching the Boss. She starts out below him and through the story, their roles shift. With Simon and Grace, they both start out on pretty equal footing. She doesn’t have his kind of money, but they’re both successful entrepreneurs who aren’t used to asking for help. So when they both have to depend on one another, the results are electric!

Q - Why should readers give these books a try?

A – All I can say is that I LOVED writing them and I think readers will really be drawn into the characters. I adore putting two strong leads into tough situations and seeing them work together to grow.
For this second book in the series, I took an obsessed billionaire and a savy business owner and made sure they both needed each other to reach their goals. To make it even more fun, I added in a major revenge plot and a trip to the Hamptons!

Q – Why did you choose to set the Billionaires In The City books New York City?

A – Because it’s the city of endless possibilities! There are so many fantastic different settings to play with, between the Upper East Side, Soho, Brooklyn and Queens. They’re all so close together and each have distinct personalities that can fit the characters perfectly. But, as much as I love NYC, I’d love to branch out in the future, so I made sure I didn’t name the city in the subtitle.

BOOK CHICK REVIEW

I received a copy from the publisher, via Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.

I read the second in the series almost immediately after finishing the first and I enjoyed it significantly more. Although I liked Simon more then Sam, Grace got on my nerves a couple times. Also, the writing was hard to understand at times because the author would switch from one character to the other's point of view. It wasn't in the first person but it still was difficult to understand and I found myself having to read over a page more then once to understand whom the author was referring.

Grace was the heroine and she had her company going into the ground because of some sleaze senator. I was slightly annoyed at Grace's reaction to it all when it went down, but was happy to see her go after Simon for help. I enjoyed seeing Grace and Simon's relationship grow and become something more. Although I feel their relationship could use a little more build to it, I liked how they cared for one another.

Simon's character I really liked in the beginning, however near the end, he got on my nerves a little because he cared so much for Grace that it felt a little fake.

Like I said, I enjoyed the second much better then the first and if your debating whether or not to read the second, give it a shot.

REVIEW: 3.5 stars--TEASING THE BOSS is the second installment in Mallory Crowe’s contemporary adult Billionaires in the City romance series of novellas. This is business consultant Simon West (first introduced to the reader in book one-Teaching the Boss), and event organizer Grace Bell. TEASING THE BOSS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.

Told from dual third person perspectives TEASING THE BOSS follows Grace as she attempts to clear her name in a scandal involving a married US senator. Caught by the paparazzi in the arms of said US senator hit Grace in more ways than one-her business as an events coordinator starting dropping off as she became persona non-grata in the social circles, and the reputation as the woman who broke up a senator’s marriage. What no one knew was that Grace has been set up as the fall girl for another one of the senator’s wrong doings. Enter Simon West-a business consultant whose clients required a no nonsense approach to getting the job done.

When Simon discovers that Grace knows the man that Simon has been trying to take down, he offers Grace a deal she cannot refuse. Simon’s best friend committed suicide following an investment scandal that went horribly wrong, and Simon has spent months researching and investigating investment banker Mark DuFord and his connections to a billion dollar financial scheme. Simon and Grace will pretend to be lovers, with no strings attached, but the plan hopelessly fails when Grace begins to fall for the man in charge.

The relationship between Grace and Simon begins as a business arrangement: Grace needs help repairing the damage brought about by the lies and tabloid innuendo, and Simon needs Grace to help him retrieve inside information about Mark Duford. What begins as a tentative friendship soon becomes something more but Simon knows that his relationship with Grace is only a temporary job, and in this Simon will begin to push Grace away when Mark shifts gears and aims his financial and political clout against Simon and Grace. The $ex scenes are intimate, provocative and hot without the over the top erotic feature but the sexual attraction between our couple felt off-everything seemed to be part of a business arrangement. I didn’t feel the need; the want; or the desire. Once again, there is little to no graphic or sexually explicit language.

I want to add that I had a few issues with the lack of condom usage throughout the series, thus far. It is not enough for the female heroine to be on the BC pill, as our hero’s like to believe, because as we know, the only thing the BC pill prevents is a pregnancy –and even that isn’t 100% effective. In this day and age, I think the authors should be proactive with their storyline characters as it pertains to safe sex and the potential for sexually transmitted disease.

The secondary characters include several of Grace’s clients, her co-workers and assistants, as well as a few new friends we will meet along the way. We will be introduced to Grace’s all-around go to guy Dean Carey, and billionaire businesswoman, and a friend of Simon’s, Victoria Green whose life will begin to fall apart as her father lies dying, and her ‘brat’ of a brother tries to regain control of the family business she saved from ruin. Dean and Victoria’s story will be told next in TEMPTING THE BOSS.

Mallory Crowe’s world of self made billionaires looks at the not so pretty side of big business and the corporate world of high finance and power. Money makes for some strange bedfellows; greed forces men to choose; and betrayal is but a phone call away. The characters are colorful; the premise fast paced and revealing. A enjoyable read for a lazy afternoon.

A Five-Star Read ~~ My Favorite of the Series!

This book is a real pleaser and even a bit better than book one, in my opinion. I highly recommend this read but for the full affect and back story it's best to start with book one and read the series in order.

I was not so sure I was going to be a fan of Simon's after the first book but boy was I wrong. I fell almost as much in love with him as Grace did. Simon, who can turn around any struggling business, appears arrogant and entirely too sure of himself. I can understand, to an extent, because of his track record in resurrecting businesses that are soon to go under for whatever reason. When he is tracked down by Grace he has met his match. Grace is a strong, beautiful, confident, and endearing entrepreneur who started her own very successful company specializing in planning galas. Unfortunately she was set up to appear as though she was having an affair with a prominent politician which sent her biz plummeting. Enter...Simon to the rescue.

Did I mention that Simon is a gorgeous, auburn-haired, hot-blooded, chiseled god? Well, he most definitely is. A great read with interesting, well-developed characters. Do Not Miss This!!

When Grace finds herself in a pickle she turns to Simon West, a man famed for his ability to turn crap into gold. He’s her only hope to restore her reputation and her business. But Simon isn’t taking on any new clients, but something about Grace has him looking a little deeper – and it turns out she might just be the answer to all his problems. Simon does what any business man would do, strike a deal. He’ll help her if she helps him, easy peasy.

This was a fun quick read. It was one of those books that although I enjoyed, I didn’t love. The story was solid, characters likable enough – but it is hard to get fully invested in a set of characters in the shorter reads without some major epic things occurring. But this author did provide an entertaining story that swayed me to give her other titles a chance. In the end that really matters the most.

"Where's the meat?". Plot was interesting, but thin. The story needed to be fleshed out. Couldn't get attached the the characters, the action, or the romance.

I received a gifted copy in exchange for a honest review.

Every time I read a Billionaire in the City novel, I keep thinking that each new novel Mallory Crowe outdid herself on writing such a superb novel. I feel like there is a tennis match in my head trying to figure out what my favorite novel is. My conclusion. They are all my favorite novels. That is what makes Mallory's writing so fantastic. Each new book in the series expands from the others before it.

In Teasing the Boss we see a closer look at Simon West. He was an enigma in Trusting the Boss. We got to meet an angry Simon. Now we get to meet an avenging Simon. What a complex character he is.

Meet event planner Grace Bell. She is in desperate need of a business consultant to pull her event planning business out of the tank. A local senator has pulled her into the limelight of the media, and it wasn't a good form of press event. Now Grace needs help to save her company, and Simon is the man just do that. That is if she can convince him.

Simon has revenge in his eyes. Grace is his key to a local con-artist. But when feelings start to enter the picture Simon has to decide how to balance the scale between justice and love. Simon was a character that as I reader I wanted to figure out. I wanted to know his secrets to why revenge was so important. I won't say the secret, but I will tell you that I didn't know what hit me. Grace is Simon's way to pay back.

The story is extremely fast paced. It is easy to feel captivated until the very end. A word of warning is to start the book early enough as you won't want to put it down. Than for me I wanted to jump right into the next book. I was so excited the next book was out.

If you love adrenaline seeking books with a mix of romance than you will definitely enjoy

**I was provided an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review. I did not receive any compensation for providing my opinion.**

Teasing the Boss by Mallory Crowe is a great contemporary romance. It is full of lust and suspense. It is a very short book and can be read rather quickly. I almost wished that it was just a little bit longer so I could a little more. This is the first in this series that I have read and I will definitely be reading more.

Teasing the Boss is about Grace, an event planner whose life is turned upside down after a false scandal rocks the tabloids and needs help to fix her reputation and save her business, and Simon, the area’s top business consultant who agrees to help out Grace but without her agreeing to help him. The characters have instant chemistry. While Grace fights that chemistry, Simon wants to give in and have a no strings affair. As a team, they work great together because they are so similar it’s almost like a male and female version of the same person at times.

The plot has just enough suspense to keep you hooked without overwhelming the reader and making the story unbelievable. The storyline moves along at a nice pace and there weren’t any flat spots for me in the plot. The dynamics between the characters were also very believable and added to the story. This was overall a great read and I can’t wait to read more.

4.5 Stars!

I enjoyed this book. Let's be honest . . . we all love the classic billionaire romance where you can start reading and get swept off of your feet into a world of high class and fine dining. This book was definitely that stereotype but had a few twists to keep you on your toes.

This book was really good. It was sweet, sexy, suspenseful, funny, and had a few twists and turns along the way. I devoured this book in one sitting and instantly started book three. This is a new author to me but has been added to my future TBR lists for sure.

This is Grace and Simon's story. In book one, we met Simon and like most, he left me unimpressed but I just knew that this author would give us a beautiful love story full of steam and angst. And she did! Simon is a fixer. Grace desperately needs his help. This ensues the start of them.

I loved Simon. He was so hard and alpha but had a much softer side. And Grace, she was absolutely amazing. They had tons of chemistry and that spark. I was rooting for these two through all of the ups and downs. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.

I recommend this book.

I loved this book, and Simon. He's quite the alpha male in his own way, "he leaned in close. “For the duration we’re in public, at least pretend you like me.” Even he couldn’t deny the jealousy that dripped off the words." He knows what he's doing, he always has a plan, "he debated pulling on a T-shirt, but decided against it. He worked his ass off to get a chest he could show off. Might as well make sure the woman he wanted to sleep with got a good view." When he gets an idea in his head he doesn't mind sharing it, "I was thinking something involving you being naked. And maybe on your knees,” he said, wicked glint in eyes." I loved this book.

Simon knows no bound to catch the uber rich, sneaky, conniving, and untouchable thief he is after. But he may have found a glitch in his prey's armor, Grace. Grace finds that she needs help of an expert. She just had no idea that there would be so much more attached to this help. Simon finds that Grace is so much more than the pawn he wants her to be. He also finds that he is sinking deeper under her savvy smart skills and sexy sinful sensuality.

Reid Kerr narrates this one just perfectly. He has calming quality to his narration. The audio was smooth, clear, and flowing.

Cute short suspenseful read

This was an interesting unique story. Grâce Bell is a successful event coordinator caught in a media nightmare. So as the strong, fierce woman she is, she tracks down Simon West, the best consultant in the city to help her with her mess. Simon doesn't want another client, but Grace Bell could help him get a bad man off the streets so they agree to a partnership where he helps get her out of her pr nightmare and she fake dates him to get him close to his enemy. I kicked the added suspenseful element to this one. It was steamy, short but a fun read with a few surprises.

Grace’s business is in trouble due to a scandal that she didn’t cause. So, she tracks down Simon West, hoping he can help. In exchange, he wants her assistance in taking down his enemy. Neither expected their fake relationship to become real.

This was okay. It was well written, but I did feel it dragged a little in places. It was a pleasant read, but it didn’t really get me excited about it. I didn’t really feel much of a connection between Simon and Grace, and both characters could have used a little more depth.

I thought that this was a great book!

I thought that the storyline was well developed and it was thoroughly enjoyable but there was a couple of areas where it was a little slow and it could easily have been a 5 star read for me if the past had continued. I do love books of this genre but at times they get bogged down with the details.

The writing style really suited the plot and the author did a great job bringing the characters to life.

It is 4 stars from me for this one – highly recommended!

A nice sequel to "Teaching The Boss". Simon continues this quest to bring down the man who drove his best friend to commit suicide. Along the way he gets tangled up with an event planner down on her luck, and the two become 'partners'. That's when it gets interesting. Good story, some humor, some suspense and some romance.
