With a do-now-and-ask-questions-later approach, Alec attempts to unravel the mystery of a radio signal that should not exist in a world thrown into the Dark Ages after the Great Loss.

In a period of self-discovery, Lauren attempts to understand personal capabilities born of an experiment started 200 years earlier by a philanthropist whose goal was to solve the ultimate puzzle.

Alec and Lauren and their ideologically opposite cultures emerge in a post-apocalyptic world and attempt to co-exist while racing to rediscover lost technologies, all on a planet still recovering from events pre-dating the Great Loss. The challenges within this story are not limited to the world of fiction and dare the reader to answer the real-life question: “Are we there yet?”

2222 is the second book in the Percipience series and builds on the foundation that has been started by the first novel, 2022.

This review has been crossposted from my blog at The Cosy Dragon . Please head there for more in-depth reviews by me, which appear on a timely schedule.

Here we return to the world 200 years after ‘The Great Loss’ where most of the world’s population was wiped out by a deadly virus. 4 villages remain, and a lone outside village has finally come into contact with them. The only problem is that the new town is built for an old consumerist population.

I want to feel sorry for Epoch, and yet at the same time I don’t. If Clyde can understand this different way of living, others can too. Or is it that in Percipience people who were like that have been wiped out? Nature vs nurture things here.

The characters are well realised and relatable. I recognised the ‘kind’ of each of them, and thought about how the Elders were just as manipulative as Jake. This novel reminds me again that I don’t understand most people. I’d love to just work in the morning, and enjoy the afternoon reading.

Wow. Deadly. Twisted! Amazing! I didn’t see things coming. Science! Chemistry! Awesomeness! Insert a very long stretch of adjectives here…

I can’t wait to read the third book, and the only reason I’m not doing it right now is so that I could write this review and not get them confused in my mind. I’m going to be pretty devastated by the end of it probably, so wait for my sobbing review soon.

This book is an incredible improvement over the first. The writing is tighter, and the editing cleaner the further you read along. I’m giving this one 5 stars. Go and buy it. It will make you think about the world in a different way.

First, read the first book in this series 2022 before starting this one. It'll make a lot more sense and you'll enjoy it more. Secondly, although there are some grammatical and formating issues, with a bit more of tell than show, this is a good book. I like the plot idea and how it is handled throughout the series. I like the characters enough to want to read about them. I feel there is considerable potential in Kroes and this series; enough to want to read all three books. Overall this is an intriguing story with the right literary elements that make it an enjoyable read. I received an ARC through the author in exchange for an honest review. This in no way influenced my opinion.

Yet another thrilling story my Kroes. 2222 is almost as good as 2022. This story has complex characters, I truly love this book, Kroes challenges the reader to think outside of the box, this book truly made me think outside of the literal box. This book is wonderful and I cannot wait to see what happens next! I would recommend this book to anyone who loved 2022, or anyone who is looking for a great read!
