Divorce is messy. Blackmail is worse. And remodeling can be murder.
When Bianca Sanders makes Davis Way Cole an offer she can't ignore, Davis finds herself drowning in questions she didn't ask. Seeking answers, she follows a dicey trail and discovers pieces of a larger puzzle that don't quite fit.
Until they do.
Juggling a pesky podcaster who knows too much, several staffers with questionable origins no one wants to explain, and a toddler who swipes everything that isn't nailed down, Davis must roll the dice to uncover the long-lost truth.
With almost red hair, razor-sharp instincts, and zero tolerance for her ex-ex-mother-in-law, Davis is in grave danger of freezing to death before solving the coldest of cases in her efforts to save (her job) (her home) (a marriage) (her sanity) the Bellissimo.
Double Dicey is a fast and funny whodunnit where the house doesn't always win, but Davis usually does.
How the author comes up with these story lines is amazing. The main character, Davis Way-Cole has an unequaled brain for figuring out mysteries. She not only has great instincts about people, but is also brilliant with computers. She knows when to ask the right questions and when to keep quiet so as not to tip off the suspects. While the mystery is intriguing, it’s the foibles that she and her partner of casino security get themselves into that keep me wanting to read more. Think female versions of Abbott and Costello if you’re old enough to catch that reference. Brilliant but looking very inept at times as they get themselves into situations beyond their control. I’m already looking forward to the next book in the series.
Just finished reading this newest book in the Davis Way Crime Caper series. In this one the Sanders are getting a divorce. That is going to create havoc with the ownership of the Bellissimo. Davis is trying to figure out what’s really going on. Can she handle things and save the hotel/casino, a marriage(not hers) and everyone’s jobs? I love to read about Davis, Fantasy, the Bellissimo gang and Davis’ family from Pine Apple, Alabama. They’re always good for a laugh or two. How Davis ends up fixing everything is always amazing. Looking forward to the next problem they get involved in.
Another laugh-out-loud adventure at the Bellimisso Resort & Casino with Davis Way Cole and her family & crew.
Bianca is divorcing Richard and is offering Davis 51% ownership of the Bellimisso for $5.00. What could possibly go wrong?
Meet Natasha, her new nanny, who cooks, cleans and keeps up with 15 month old Hudson, AKA Crash, the cowboy boots wearing Kleptomaniac and their newest offspring.
That is enough spoilers for your imagination to run with.
Anyone other than Davis would need medication to deal with her frenetic life. Intrigue, dome action, humor. Lots of juggling of disparate storylines. This one was a vast improvement over the last one, which was just plain eye-rollingly silly. I hesitated quite a while before getting it, but I'm glad I didn't miss it. It's a good one.
Such fun. So great to see all my old friends again! And I love the complexity of her stories! If you are looking for fun mysteries you can really sink your teeth in, with memorable characters and great endings – these books are for you.
It was a delight to read another Davis Way crime caper. It has been a while since I had read one of her adventures. She is not a character that is easy to forget. I was quickly enveloped her wacky world once again. Entertaining series.
Gretchen Archer's Davis Way series is like a vacation. They really make me laugh out loud. Just when I think Davis's life can't get crazier, she comes up with something else--a kleptomaniac toddler son.
I love every one of the Davis Way Cole mysteries. These stories are unique and interesting with laugh out loud moments. Ms. Arrcher can't write these books fast enough for me. I hope this series goes on for a very long time. I can't get enough of this series!
I loved it! I rushed to purchase it as soon as I saw it was released. I laughed the whole way through as usual. I couldn’t put it down. Excellent author!
