Bianca Pinheiro's _Bear-Volume 2_ receives 5 stars from me. I don't think I can say enough good things about this series.
I'm learning Portuguese, and I should write this in Portuguese. However, most of my friends are English speakers, and I'd like them to read my review.
Comic books are great for learning a language and improving reading skills. The pictures help understanding. I think Bear is a great tool for anyone wanting to improve Portuguese reading skills. While reading this book, I didn't look up words as much as I was trying to understand as best I could. However, there were times I did, and I learned so much. I found the book engaging, witty, and I have grown to love spending time with Raven and Dimas (I'll be wanting the stuff animal version of these two soon.)
What is good about the book? The themes of friendship, helping others, and persaverince are clearly understandable to a young reader. I really enjoy Raven. She's witty, smart, brave. In many ways an excellent role model for kids. Dimas is also great. He wants to help Raven, and stands by her even though he'd really like to go home.
The artwork is lovely. I love the colors, the individual characters all have charm. It is visually excellent.
Recommended: yes, absolutely.
