Lara Brooks is finally taking control of her life. After years of manipulation, betrayal, and emotional warfare, she made the choice to walk away from Trevor. The man she once called her husband. What started as a “messy arrangement” meant to save their marriage only exposed the truth. Trevor was never the man she thought he was. Now, Lara is rebuilding. New space. New mindset. New boundaries. But walking away isn’t as simple as signing papers.
Trevor isn’t ready to let go, and he’s willing to lose everything before he loses Lara. As his life spirals deeper into lies, secrets, and dangerous decisions, Lara finds herself caught in the aftermath of a world she never asked to be part of. From hidden betrayals and unexpected enemies to a past that refuses to stay buried, every move she makes is about survival for herself and her daughter.
And then there’s Jaxon. The kind of man that Lara isn’t sure she even wants. What starts as an unexpected connection turns into deception and lies. But in Lara’s world, nothing comes without consequences. Because the deeper she steps into her new life, the more her past fights to pull her back. Yet and still, she can’t resist Jaxon’s grip on her. In the explosive finale… this time… It’s not just messy. It’s dangerous.
TREVOR REALLY TOLD JAZZ IF YOU DON'T TAKE YOUR LOUD BUST DOWN ASS IN THE HOUSE. TREVOR REALLY THOUGHT HE WAS THAT NIGGA YOU THE ONE WHO CAME UP TO LARA WITH OPEN RELATIONSHIP AGREEMENT TO GET SOME OUTSIDE PUSSY OTHER THAN HIS WIFE. THE CRAZY PART IS TREVOR IS DEALING LIKE THREE DIFFERENT NOW THAT LARA IS DONE WITH HIM. WHAT GOT ME DERRICK IS THE REAL MVP FOR WHAT HE SAID TO TREVOR TOLD HIM YOU ARE RAISING YOUR VOICE AIN'T GONNA CHANGE MY ANSWER. ALL BECAUSE HE KNOW THAT LARA IS DEALING WITH JAXON KNOWN AS MALIK. WHAT GOT ME IS TREVOR DON'T EVEN KNOW THAT HE HAS A OLDER DAUGHTER THAT IS 9 YRS OLD OTHER THAN THE ONE HE GOT WITH LARA AND THAT IS NOT JAXON/MALIK.
It's not bad I just didn't like what Lara did to Trevor in the end. That colored the whole book for me in way I couldn't get past. Children shouldn't be used as collateral, pawns or means to control. She did all three. That's whack.
