The second installment in the Threadneedle Street Mystery series by needlework designer Thea Dueck. Confronted by a shocking revelation about her missing husband, gone over three years now, Grace begins to question her entire marriage.
She decides to make something positive about the situation and opens the door of conversation with both of her adult children. Already committed to teaching a Hardanger class she sees it as a way to regain her self confidence. However, when one of her students wants to confide in her and then the night before suddenly dies, both Grace and her close friend, Daniel, who is an RCMP Inspector, think it may have been foul play. Bit by bit the threads unravel but will finding the killer lead Grace to her missing husband?
I enjoyed Thea’s writing style very much. She has a natural talent for distilling situations down to the basics. Her insights are often very beautiful, almost poetic, and I found myself reaching for the post-it notes several times to mark passages that moved me. In addition, the author shows a humorous side such as when Sergeant Amy Tan describes Daniel’s coffee as a dark brown cup of disappointment. I’m looking forward to the next installment because this one ends in a cliffhanger.
Wow. This continuation of book 2 brings more info on the mysterious disappearance of husband plus more murders to solve plus redemption and hope. excellent read. The series is getting even better!
